>Be 5' 8" skinnyfat poorfag
>Find out there's a gym in my neighborhood called Planet Fitness
>10 dollars a month is an absolute steal for me
>Open 24/7 so I can do it before or after classes.
>It's too good to be true
>It is
>Did research after signing up like a retard
>Find out it's essentially a gym for insecure fatties and actively tries to hurt progress through free junk food. All a big scheme to get people to buy up memberships while they rarely come by
Can I break the system and ascend past it through persistence? I'm not looking to get huge so the 60lb limit on weights doesn't bother me. I've only heard the lunk alarm go off twice over the past week and it was due to dropped weights, mine might be chill.
Post your PF stories.
Be 5' 8" skinnyfat poorfag
you're fucked, brah.
enjoy closing your bank account and getting collections notices because they keep charging you after they kick you out for being a """"lunk"""""
people give them shit but as a gym they're fine. they are corrupt and scummy as fuck when it comes to canceling though
I knew a guy who said he lifts at planet fitness needless to say he can't bench 1 plate
I made sure I didn't get locked into a year contract. I was lucky and signed up during a no commitment period.
PF is the only gym within 40 miles of me, and it fits my student budget. i just go at like 1 AM after work when all the fatties are gone and any free junk food they had has been sitting out for hours and looks disgusting. even when going during busy hours i've never seen them break out the lunk alarm though
it's not bad, but everything being a smith machine makes me miss my old gym before i moved
More like Planet Fitn This Dick in Yo Mouf
if you go here you'll have to do body building type workouts. Still very possible to build an ok body and it's better than nothing
It's hilarious when retarded faggots online say shit like "hurrr planet fitness doesn't care about you, they just want your money" like every other gym in the world a doesn't just want your money
Is there really a 60 lbs limit? On what, specifically?
You'll never get anywhere with only 60 lbs, except with shit like dips and pullups
PF is good and cheap.
They have a day of the month you have to cancel before though.
t. lost 10 bucks and am over it
No
It's still much better to do stupid workouts than to do no workouts at all, I would strongly suggest you find a real gym with power racks but until that point just do the best you can with their facilities, I actually know a few people who have gotten reasonably fit at planet fitness.
Do they have racks and olympic barbells? If yes, you can do nearly anything.
Shame about no deadlifts, but you can do without it if you have to.
no barbells if i'm correct. They have dumbells that do go about 75 lbs and they also have curl bars
it's fine for beginners
True but at least they have power racks
Well then you're shit out of luck.
If it has weights and cardio machines then its as good as any other gym unless you need specialized stuff like pools or trainers.
It doesnt.
>DB’s only go to 75 i think
>fixed curling bars go up to 70
>smith machines only
>no weighted pullups or dips even if you bring your own belt
>absolutely no chalk
Its total bullshit bros
Just do calisthenics and run outside. I seriously hope nobody on this board goes there.
The main difference between most gyms and PF is that other gyms don't penalize you for trying to push yourself. The moment you try to going beyond warmup status, a loud ass noise comes on and people complain that you're 'judging'. It's ironic that a judgement free zone has a harsh judgement for those who don't want to participate in the bullshit.
But like, is it a good gym to start out at?
t. never really worked out before, prolly can't lift anything past 60 lbs anyways
No.
Keep going, it will turn into a huge ego boost when you are the only jacked person there while the whales eat free pizza again.
Well I can tell you that a lot of recommended beginner programs (SS, 5x5, etc) use freeweights (especially olympic bars) as a vital part of their training. Without those, you can't really do them. You can try doing the best you can with a smith machine, I guess, but it's not going to be nearly as efficient. Then again, I don't know what you're specifically aiming for.
I am aiming for not being a toothpick.
Eat more
but I don't want to be fat either I wanna make sure that mass becomes muscle
Lift while eating
Took me 2 minutes to cancel. Just had to visit on my way home one day. Got me doing regular workouts and back into some sort of using time to exercise.
so...
I should do that guy's routine. Got it. Thanks user.
