Most things get destroyed once they get popular and "cool". I guess we just have to hope obsidian makes the next fallout somehow but i think the elder scrolls is fine.

There's still a lot of faggy obscure games coming out, just dig in steam or gog I'm sure you can find some. Otherwise make your own with some friends.

But misplaced sperging is a slippery slope. He doesn't even have a real position, he's just mercurially sliding around as if to say "what I REALLY meant all along is ..." and then changing it again in the next post. The DnD is ruined because the tabletop experience is necessarily collaborative, and by being flooded with normie retards it becomes unplayable. If you think about it, why would someone even bother complaining that someone stupid likes their hobby? The complaint is always necessarily about that person either diluting the product's quality with their bad taste, or diluting the communal experience of the hobby with their presence. We're just having different interpretations of OP. I have two close friends where the second normies latch on anything they HATE it no matter what their stance was before so it just annoys the shit out of me to see anyone like that. Criticism is fine, this is just more me wanted to get off my chest my hatred for those who purely hate things because it becomes mainstream.
You know who I play MTG and D&D with? A close group of friends. Maybe you guys are different but it doesn't make sense to me to complain about the community as a whole when video games or boardgames have always been a solo/with friends activity for me.

Baldur's Gate is closer to ARPG than CRPG to be honest. Planescape is probably the champion for both writing and dialogue. An eight hour poopsock session of that game can basically amount to wandering around one area of one hub just talking to people. Baldur's Gate is still good though, if you can still play the old mod that combines BG1/2/ToB into one game, and then add shit like Sword Coast Strategems and Ascension (only if you're into difficulty though). Redemption was an OK mod too.

The NWN2 expansion Mask of the Betrayer is pretty good. NWN2 is mediocre at best, seriously not good, especially in the first half, but if you are desperate for an RPG it's sort of fine.

The Legacy of Kain series are kind of known for their great writing, but I'm not sure how that holds up after all these years.

Morrowind has amazing world-building writing and lore, but you kind of need to mod it up.

Tbh the first Witcher had the best story of the series. I enjoyed it more by enabling Polish voiceacting over English subtitles but not sure if you can still do that.

KOTOR2 with all the proper content restoration mods has pretty good writing. It's clunky but it's basically a in-setting critique of the setting's own metaphysics, probably the best exploration of Star Wars metaphysics out there, presented as a character in the universe itself being the critic (sort of).

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is known for very good writing. Again you need certain mods to get the most of it. Try the /vg/ thread or something.

Gothic 2 is clunky as fuck but known for complex setting I think.

The Thief games are known for great setting and writing but clunky.

Deus Ex has amazing writing.

The first Fallout and still Fallout 2 (but it's more uneven).

Arcanum is a classic.
