i'm way stronger with a close grip (like almost touching smooth) than max legal, my chest is relatively more developed than my triceps and i have really long arms

so idk about that maybe my technique just sucks for max legal

Whichever one you train primarily will be strongest.

I've been a long term close grip bincher, but admittedly I know my truly strongest grip is about mid-range, double clavicle length and over time my grip has opened up a little just progressively.

Only people who are truly strongest close grip are those who don't train it any other way

see that's the thing, i trained exclusively max legal for a year and a half or so and then my cg was still immediately stronger with no practice

I used to be that way. In my case, the problem was lack of tightness when benching max legal.

Yeah I literally just did ramping sets when I first started lifting. I would have a 4x8, 5x5, and 8x3 day. Once linear progression started slowing down I got into nuckols and juggernaut.

I'm the same. I find it much easier to use max grip for reps(>5) and close grip for singles, doubles, and triples. It's probably due to instability (i.e. weak back and core) in my case though.

Bigger guys tend to go narrower, at least enhanced ones do. Wenning, strickland, hoornstra spring to mind. Even Kirill is narrow for his build, hes so fucking wide that hes on the rings but its not wide wide grip wise.

Found out that my right elbow dropped a bit on the JM Press. This only happens if I try to force the ROM though. Basically fixed with an extra set where I just did what Blakely himself tells you to do.

Depth is borderline/maybe a tad high. Focus on sitting between your legs and breaking with your knees and hips at the same time. You're sitting into your knees a lot because you initiate with your hips.

Also really focus on shoving your knees out to the side, that should get you the last little bit for depth
