What were you doing on the day of Sept. 11th 2001 when you found out?
I was in 4th grade, didn't find out until after school ended despite so many parents taking their kids out early. My mom had told me when she picked me up. When I got home I noticed a lot of TV stations weren't broadcasting. The next day I learned someone in my class lost his dad.
That year I became afraid something would happen to my parents, that I would be waiting outside the school for them never to come. I was quite upset if they were even 10 minutes late. None of us had cell phones yet but that was the norm.
I was in 4th grade too. I came back in from recess and my teacher had the tv turned on to the news story. It didn't really change anything for me desu. I lived in the middle of nowhere in the midwest, not somewhere terrorists would be interested in.
Wyatt Baker
You fucking boomer
Joseph Jones
I mentioned no politics. Stop being a kneejerking zoomer.
Christopher Russell
I was in 6th grade on the UK. I got home and was pissed off that the News was on instead of Pokemon. My Mum cried a lot. I just went and played my PS1.
Carter Murphy
in the grocery store with my mom had no clue what actually happened then though
Gabriel Brown
Fuck off teenage faggot.
Jace Flores
I was in 4th grade as well but my dad was in the Army and we were PCSing so we were staying with family in Arizona at the time. My dad woke me up early saying the Trade Centers were under attack and I just rolled over and said "so?" After being unable to go to sleep, I went into the living room and all the adults, even the ones who were suppose to be at work, were watching TV. I didn't understand what was happening but I remember staying in my cousin's room the entire day.
What startled me was getting to Fort Bragg and having security and soldiers everywhere. One of my teachers said that it was known previously as an open base.
Xavier Stewart
I was in 5th grade and I woke up and it happened(west coast) and my mother and sister were watching the news and I was joking about it and they told me how serious it was then the towers fell. I fake cried and acted scared to not go to school since I was already a social outcast and it was literally more traumatic to me to have to go to school a single day.
Brayden Reed
>second grade >had an 80 year old Guatemalan teacher >we turn the TV on for a bit >second plane hits >nope >tv off.jpg >we don't fully understand what's going on >"something terrible has happened" - teacher An interesting thing is the video of president bush on 9/11 at the elementary show. One of his top aides waited for the right time to walk over and whisper in his ear. He also chose his words carefully too. I believe he said something like...
actually i just decided to google and copy/paste the whole quote
"I opened the door to the classroom and the press pool was gathered at the back of the classroom. I walked up to the president and leaned over and whispered into his right ear: "A second plane" I was very very succinct, very purposeful with my diction "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack." And I stood back from the president so that he couldn't ask me a question and then I inched my way back to the door. I was all business. I was all business."
Oliver Fisher
Another fourth grader, waiting to be brought to school. Adults were watching the news, concerned, on the phone. School had a seminar about it. I didn't pay much attention, half my mind was probably on hating the school I was at, and the other half asleep.
Christopher Bailey
I was in kindergarten, my mom dropped me off at school after it happened because she hadn't heard it happened. And I noticed that there were barely any kids at school. Then my mom picked me up from school, and while driving back she was crying while explaining what happened. I asked her how long will it take to clean up the glass and she told me years, and when we got back home we watched the news the whole day.
Owen Reed
Kindergarten, and I don't remember a thing. Do people really remember anything from when they were 5 other than a couple scattered images?
Juan Stewart
longterm memory usually starts at 4. But I think not many are formed until another year or so and that's normal
Cameron Barnes
SA Forums thread of 9/11 if you haven't seen it yet. Thought it might be interesting to read.
Wow, real time reactions to it happening. That's cool, thanks for sharing.
Jaxson Jenkins
I was in an 8th grade class when the news broke. This was an early class, like first or second period. Teacher told us about it. I remember she had this big long dramatic spiel before actually telling us what happened.
Anyway, afterward we got the second half of the day off. A lot of kids spent time on the street talking about it, and what our teachers had said to us.
By the time the towers actually fell, we were already out of class.
> inb4 30 year old boomer
Funnily enough I actually turn 30 in two days
Charles Phillips
My brother was in hospital with pneumonia. Went to visit him in the morning (ausfag) and it was all over the TVs instead of DBZ.
Owen Anderson
I take that back. You can only view the first page of that thread. I feel bamboozled. Fuck you.
Zachary Barnes
No clue. Probably playing building blocks.
9/11 overrated.
Luke Watson
links are broken so change the number at the end if you haven't to switch pages.
Kayden Jenkins
I stayed home sick. First thing I saw when waking up was the tv and the aftermath of the disaster. The next day at school, some kid called me a terrorist cos Im kind of brown.
Noah Fisher
You can only view the first page of that thread.
Every other page got deleted back in 2002.
What gives? What kind of government censorship is cucking me
I was in 5th grade, at home "sick" that day. I was laying on the couch while my mom and dad watched the news. Idk why my mom was home that day but my dad worked 2nd shift so he was still there. Didn't really have an effect on me.
Kayden Reed
I was watching dragon ball, can't remember which episode, when the news flash started. I remember watching the whole thing waiting to see if dragon ball would resume.
Jace Jenkins
This is gold, thanks user
Grayson Brooks
i was eating cereal at the kitchen table the phone rings, my aunt picks it up and tells me to come look at the tv because something terrible happened in new york. my parents were there on vacation. they were safe though.
6th grade, was owning this dodgeball game in gym class. Principal walks in and interrupts, he gave a little speech but I forgot what he said. It was the only day I saw my dad buy or bring home a paper newspaper in my life.
Caleb Sullivan
Home. Played till late the night before so i didnt went to school. Had the house for my self. I found out through my mom since i didnt watched the news at all.
Mason Powell
i was only 1 but my mother was offered a permanent job in the wtc in 99, which she turned down. The day after 911 her asshole boss asked her to come in for work without even asking about if she was ok. My father was stuck in brooklyn several days because of it.
Daniel Ross
did you see the plane on tv? or just the Explosion
Blake Bell
>My roommate works in the WTC, somewhere around the 70th floor. As I was leaving this morning he was just waking up - about 8:30 am. Usually he's in to work by then, but today he overslept. Talk about fucking lucky. Damn
>8th grade, first period American History class. >Can't remember teachers name. >Announcement over loud speakers >TV on a rolling cart with the news on >I was confused I think >Remember one teacher was crying >Student was crying because she had an uncle that worked in TWC. >Silence as the news of it played out
Nicholas Martinez
5th grade. It happened during my bus ride home. Since cell phones weren't really a thing back then, I didn't know anything until I got inside my house. My mom was freaking out. Don't remember exactly what she said but I do recall her mentioning something about war.
Ryder Roberts
Mods fucking BAN anyone who says this, because they are mathematically guaranteed underage.
I was 7 and the first one in the family to find out about it. Parents ignored me when I told them what I saw on the TV and went to school only to be in a lockdown for the whole day. When I came back home my faggot parents still didn't want to tell me anything.
That final scream before the tower collapses is brutal. Ive seen some fucked up stuff but this always gets me, and its just an audio
Colton Turner
>sleeping before school (3rd grade) >mom woke me up saying someone flew a plane into a building in new york >couldn't give a single fuck at all, no grasp that that's a big thing >then she starts talking about people aren't sending their kids to school >"sweet I might not have to go to school" >end up going, because why the fuck wouldn't I being in the southwest Don't remember anything at all besides that
Jeremiah King
I was in first grade, when my mom picked me up and told me I didn't really understand the gravity of the situation and just said "oh". It wasn't until years later that I understood.
John Rodriguez
Anyone have photos of ground zero showing chunks of body parts all over the street?
I was 20 years old and in the army. Was about to take a nap because it was noon here, then some dude came in the barracks to tell us that a plane hit a skyscraper or something. We watched the news for a couple minutes and went back to bed. Then the same guy came back in the barracks to inform us about the second hit and we realized something big is going on and spent the rest of the day watching the news, feeling glad that the imperialist pigs got what they deserved. The world was very anti-american back then because of all the wars and stuff.
David Wilson
6th grade, saw it on the news before going to school. everyone was quiet, not much more i remember about it.
i do remember that everyone in my class seemed more sad or out of it when george harrison died a couple months later, though. i went to a libby private school, though, so it makes sense.
Liam White
This was the same as my grandfathers reaction.
He wasn't surprised at all by it, and he said "oh well, Merica keeps getting involved in shit"
He is red pilled before red pill was a thing
Aiden Anderson
i do remember the following days a little better though because there wasnt a plane in the sky. that seemed more surreal to me.
Austin Torres
You're almost 40 years old and still posting on Jow Forums... think about that and let it sink in.
Xavier Jackson
I was hittin up the waves like no tomorrow. Servin up sliders like a true chopsky. But on my 5th dip, I felt something wrong within the chakras of the ocean. I looked back out onto the shore towards my kemosabes and babes and that's when i saw the first tower fall. All the way here in Cali. I couldn't believe it. The smoke started to fill up the shoreline and that's when I called upon the powers of neptune (totally righteous dude) to create a wave large enough for me to surf all the way to the big apple. I thought somehow I could help. But I was off-course and ended up colliding into the second tower, devastating the city. Bogus. the best i could do was pull some half aerials off some ankle busters like a grommet. I was no help at all. Thats when I told everyone to "hang loose, drop a deuce" and I was on my way back to the golden state. I still remember that fateful day, and I always make sure to do a triple back gainer in honor of those we lost.
37, discovered Jow Forums at 32. Where else would I rather be, the huffington post or something? Fuck a bunch of that, the chon gives me porn and keks.
Zachary Phillips
>discovered Jow Forums at 32
Alright I'll give you a pass. Thanks for your service.
Jason Clark
I wasn't conceived yet I'll enjoy the ban.
Justin Price
I still dont understand how people even outside the US where so emotional about that. Dont get me wrong 3000 dead is still much but not special
No but this is a compilation of videos from the streets by average people filming. It gives a lot of perspective since most people just look at news broadcasts of the event.
I like the part where some guy (a responder) is just ranting about digging out bodies to who I guess is his elderly mom, and pedestrians just stop there and listen. And that type of thing was happening all over the place.
>knew about this site since at least 2011 >couldn't figure out how to post, thought you needed an account or something >find out last year that you can post by clicking the number
I was in 9th grade. Happened during homeroom. They wheeled out the TVs and had the news on, and didn't really bother holding classes that day. One girl was freaking out because her mom worked in the Sears Tower and she was sure it was gonna be hit too. I watched some of it but mostly put my head down and napped quietly, since my life mostly revolved around playing Counterstrike at the time.
I remember a few days later, seeing all the flags out, and the ones that had been out at half mast, and thinking, "We're fucked for at least the next decade". Probably one of the few predictions about the world teenage me was on the right track about.
Jaxson Wilson
We were untouchable on our own land since Pearl Harbor, a distant memory, and then suddenly we were touched again Right in the painus
Isaac Baker
A very famous singer in my country died 3 days later and no one gave a shit kek
Jayden Sanders
dude, shrooms were legal in japan until 2005 and airport security wasn't shit until after 9/11
back in the 1990s you could smuggle shrooms in your coat pockets from Japan to America, these days they'll x-ray irradiate you nine ways to sunday and stick a probe in your ass if you haven't shaved in two days and look funny
>excited because birthday was today and parents were going to eat lunch with me.
>my class goes to the library
>every class went there from time to time to sit down and the librarian would give a lecture about books.
>She gives her lecture, notice that one of the other librarians puts the tv on in the background.
>see whats going on on the tv, nobody says anything about it or explains to us whats going on, they just continue the lecture.
>3rd grade me is thinking that its just a plane crash.
>fast foward to lunch time
>parents show up, but instead of lunch they get me out of school.
>I think hell yeah get to leave early on my birthday.
>My mom and dad are acting real paranoid.
>I don't know whats going on.
>Mom and Dad tell me what happend and that it would start a war.
>go home and watch cnn all day covering everything happening.
Kevin Anderson
>2nd grade >live in upstate NY, not NYC, so it's not directly impacting me but it still is literally close to home >one day of the year I happened to be home sick >mom comes in and changes the channel over to the news and i watch it live on TV Had no idea what was going on, and don't really remember very vividly. I just wanted to watch cartoons
Jeremiah Cruz
I remember exactly how I felt when I stopped to see what people were watching on the big screen in the lobby and saw the second plane hit live. At first I felt light headed, and then I got fucking mad. I was unbelievably angry.
My biggest fear, if you can believe it, was that Bush would be too much of a pussy to go hard. I was concerned there would be a few cruise missiles launched, some very stern letters delivered to our enemies in the Middle East, and that would be that. I cannot tell you how happy I was when Bush started wrecking shit. I really did feel like it was his job as President to embody my need for vengeance, and his decision to fuck up the Middle East in response to 9/11 is why I voted for him in 2004.
Brody Smith
I saw it from my school window i remember one girl being really scared because her mom worked in the building
Nicholas Robinson
>in 7th grade social studies (think it was actually geography) >been two months since my first time in a plane (flew to Arizona (from Atlanta) to see the Grand Canyon - very nice) >teacher, who have left the room, came back in, looking a little worried >she turns on the television >reception was poor >I could make out something tall was smoking >remember learning about Three-Mile Island and started to think what I was seeing was cooling towers >nuclear plant accident? >we are then sent to another classroom with a tv with better reception >something flew into the World Trade Center >start to hear about a Pentagon >never heard of The Pentagon, before >was it aliens? >did aliens attack us? >later hear about a terrorist group called Al-Quaida flying into buildings >disappointed >so it wasn't aliens... >the teachers were scared >I was curious and confused about what's going on >why would people attack us? >the first tower collapses >then the second one >thought that was cool >felt like a movie >we were sent back to class >just to hear the best PA ever >we get to go home early >parents later explain to me and my sisters what's going on >kept wondering how are they gonna clean up the mess >the next couple of days ended with me asking my mom if they finally cleaned up the mess >took them a week to clean up the WTC mess >stopped caring after that >why spend all that time worried when there are better things to do like watching Dragon Ball Z?
Jacob Ramirez
stupid thread. a bunch of self-righteous boomer cucks calling for war and killing muslims. how different we see 9/11 20 years later and almost 2 decades of war
Jose Martinez
Get over it already
Carson Adams
you're retarded dude, boomers did not post on the internet back in 2001. Only ~40% of America and barely the rest of the world had internet back then. Although those do seem like boomer posts. Crazy how writing style changes. Anyone remember stickdeath lol
Ryan Thompson
idk probably playing dreamcast or something else
Dylan Roberts
>t. Zoomer too young to have a story

I'm a 2000s fag, turned 18 last month, never witnessed it, older brother said he watched it in his history class live, I got to meet the teacher that taught him and witnessed it with him.
Jack Walker
I was NEET sleeping in as usual.
Camden Collins
come on guys, we can all share his moms tits
Landon Green
I was five when it happened so my memory of it is very blurry >at a rehab center for autistic kids with sensory problems >the adults probably left us in the room while they watched it live >go to restaurant with mother later that day >she tells me that "some airplanes crashed into the twin towers in New York" >didn't understand the seriousness of it because I was an autistic toddler >wondered why they couldn't just make a big ball pit for the jumpers >few days later >family planned a vacation to disneyworld >goes anyway despite recent events >I get the window seat >we happen to fly right over NYC >I get to see all the carnage and destruction below >got a stuffed animal alligator at disneyworld
Im afraid I couldnt fight the urge to push all that over.
>I was in Puerto Rico because of a military father >6 years old >class is still going but parents are pulling kids out >getting excited for that because fuck school even then >they take me home and they sit on the couch while I am beside it leaning my back on it. >too dumb to give a shit. >just wanted to play games but I could feel that would be inappropriate to ask >every once in a while parents say "oh my god" >felt weird because I didnt give a shit >like your at a funeral for someone elses family >sat there bored for hours
Michael Johnson
Jacked off and played vidya becuase im not an american and I was not even aware of the news until a few hours later. I didn't feel anything really

Oldfag here. I was coming home from the uni, overheard some people talking that something's happening in Burgerland. Went to sleep, woke up a few hours later when my mom called me and said there's a war just started.
Andrew Harris
Had just started my first year of college. I remember walking to a literature class and one of the other guys in the class started talking to me on the way over. I thought he was joking at first. We sat in class for a bit, just waiting. I think there were a few people trying to call people that lived there. They ended up cancelling classes.
I don't really remember too much else about that day. I didn't really have any reaction to the event itself, but depression had already started to take hold by then. I stopped going to classes and ended up dropping out after wasting a year there.
David Roberts
You got a problem with killing muslims?
Luke Stewart
>saw it on the news >parents were crying and freaking out >didn't get what the big deal was, to me the explosion looked cool as fuck >went to school the next day and played Blow Up the Towers It was pretty fun.
Jack Harris
I was 5 In school when they told us to have a minute of silence. I went home that day and there was a beautiful blue sky and was very sunny I thought "I hope my home remains safe from the bad people"
And 17 years later. It still is.
