Why don't you play Dwarf Fortress, user? It's the perfect robot game.
Why don't you play Dwarf Fortress, user? It's the perfect robot game
I have it downloaded but it is so intimidating that I haven't opened it yet.
mac nigger here. I've tried getting it in the past but there's no mac download
I do. I have spent countless hours playing it over the last decade
>using a texture pack
I'm waiting for the final update of this cycle to start a new fortress
There is now
Because this image right here.
Iktf. I've played it once but the visual style scared me away. Now that I know you can make it look like this,
I think I'll try it again.
I'm still in 43.05. Hopefully the next update will unfuck the depression/stress mechanics.
I make a base with all the basic stuff but after that I'm not sure what to do with all the loot and caravan items.
Getting used to the graphics is too much of a hurdle for me. Played rimworld at length before df, so unless I use mods the management system is kinda off.
Plus it's a massive time sink...
I started to learn with the quick-start guide but it got to a point where everything seemed to be stable and I didn't know what else to do. My dwarfs were fine, the crops were producing enough... The only thing was building more rooms. So I lost interest.
I do play Dwarf Fortress.
I recently made a tiny map with the goal of total eradication of goblins and elves. Human reluctantly afterwards. Full on non-dwarf genocide.
Experiment. Learn minecarts and power. Move magma. Carve statues from the earth. Raid the world.
Too much of a brainlet to even get the game working let alone play it
You weren't having enough fun, user. Did you set up a militia?
It took me 3 attempts at trying to learn the game before I got the hang of it. It honestly isn't that hard to play you just have to learn how to use the UI. There are plenty of good tutorials on YouTube that can get you started. And remember friend, Losing is Fun.
I guess I should start trying out weird stuff.
Kind of. I had to set it up on the fly because some were-panda attacked the fort. It also killed a dwarf that haunted me until I made him a grave which was pretty funny.
Autism simluator. I play games to release stress and look at pretty graphics, scenery, and be immersed. I just like stories and looking at pretty things. I don't care about deep mechanics, unless they are simple to learn but hard to master like quake. That's why I like total war over paradox games. because I like looking at my dudes on the battlefield. I don't really care about studying and learning about some neckbeard's autism simulator, even if it's the most complex game in existence. Complexity is not what I look for in games.
Fair enough. You're still a brainlet though.
It's funny, Dwarf Fortress is pretty much the opposite of that phrase, it's hard to learn but easy to master. Really there isn't much challenge considering you can just turtle yourself in and avoid invaders and everything. The fun comes from roleplaying and creating interesting architecture & machines. I can see why something like that wouldn't appeal to a weeb consumerist escapist such as yourself.
I sunk over 2000 hours into TF2, guess I will do the same with this game when I learn how to play.
>don't play it often enough to remember what I'm doing and have to constantly read the wiki
>fortresses are always bland rooms and hallways without any cool designs like the pictures I see posted here
If you found the problem you can go ahead and fix it now :)
>>fortresses are always bland rooms and hallways without any cool designs like the pictures I see posted here
Then fix it?
I'm too much of a brainlet to make it look pretty. I can only play like an unimaginative retard.
i used too but i got bored of video games entirely
other good robot games:
>DCSS
>Star Control 2
>Noctis IV
>Gold Box series
>Dark Sun Shattered Lands
>Wasteland 1
>Might and Magic 3-8/HoMM3
>Geneforge series
autismo games got me through some rough times, just remember to do other things
Is magic in the game yet?
Nope, probably not for a while. Pulping is back though.
Because it eventually, always, has memory overflow issues from the game tracking too many assets and their statistics at once.
Toady could do any number of things to mitigate this:
>Allow the player to set a fortress population maximum; turn away migrants without having to murder them.
>Cut down the values for variables and calculations, nothing going beyond two digits of precision.
>Work on optimizing the code rather than introducing new content
But as long as people are giving him donations, they will expect new content, and he will leave optimization to his cult following after he has died and maybe open-sources the game to witness what a fucking mess it must be.
A fucking mess of the highest quality craftsdwarfship
You can change population in the configs friend.
Also he regulary recodes massive parts of the game when he works on related code
Just try it bro. Remember to use ramp/channel designations.
download macnewbie or you can easily run the base game through wine.
Not autistic enough. Rimworld is good enough for me.
Because I like fast action games or survival horror games.
its a survival horror game
Does it play like Resident Evil 2? I don't think so.
pushing the goal posts I see :^)
I take that as a no, checkmate.;^D
>you need to have autism to learn how to play dorf fort haha!
>UI is cleanly presented on the screen at all times
>can read a 30 minute tutorial or watch a 2 hour tutorial and learn everything you need to play it easily
>add-ons that remove most of the micro-managing stuff so you don't have to worry about it
>game is extremely simple, just designate rooms, craft things, and farm things, then trade the things (really, you can spend the entire early game crafting stone dicks, if you mainly focus on one thing you can pretty much clean out the whole trading caravan, which usually makes you invincible)
>if you don't know what to do next, you can pause the game, look at the cleanly presented UI that is on the screen at all times, and look for things you haven't built yet
>if you don't know what a thing does you can look it up on the extensive wiki
Can someone explain this shit? Dwarf Fortress is extremely casual, especially now. You can make it very hard, but to play it normally is simple.
>tfw too dumb to play with Dwarf Therapist
>tfw there hasn't been an update compatible with the current version in ages
>tfw my computer ate shit and can't play old versions on new PC
I wanna dieeeee
>want to make a Great Library fortress
>there's a bug that makes every player created book one page long
My autism won't let me play until it's fixed
