Shit, man. I was in the exact same situation. I resolved it by taking massive loans during college for on/near campus housing (dorm for 1 year, it sucked and was overpriced. Then rented room in a house nearby campus for 2 years.)
Price sucks but it's better than taking shit from your parents all day. You need to get out of there or you're gonna end up putting a gun to your head. I had the knife on the floor one day and that's when I decided, fuck the money, some things are worth more than money. Like sanity. Get out of there and cut contact.

Okay OP just read and skimmed a little thru. Fly to Chicago and take a train or bus to a town between 5,000 and 150,000 people. Most places off of i55 or 57 and north of i72/74 are some of the safest places in the midwest. Rent is sometimes only 300 b4 utilities and a 2br apt in a good spot only runs 750 at most. I live 2 blocks from downtown for around 500 a month.

I moved here from Georgia almost a year ago and as long as you can get any minimum wage job full time you'll never worry about having to live with your parents again. It got shitty enough for me that I put a 5 dollar bill down every day for a month or two to save up for a one way ticket. 1,000 dollars is enough startup cost to get yourself situated as you look for a job (you can take mine I'm quitting soon) and the resources in this state are great for youths and young adults.

This same desparation drove me to research and I found that despite the government level corruption the people outside of Chicongo are very nice and despite being 95% white it's very accepting of nonwhites that aren't lowlife coons. The downside of the cheaper prices and cost of living is the higher taxes but if you live close enough to Indiana you could border hop for that.
