What are the best canadian cities to live in, and why?
What are the best canadian cities to live in, and why?
My sister and parents live in the Penticton/Kelowna area. It's possibly the nicest weather in all of Canada but still pricey and jobs are likely not the greatest.
ontario is certainly turning into a shithole, at least the GTA area
i thought about moving out west to BC since the winters are milder, but i don't know anything else, it could be just as bad.
Regina is trash garbage. Thinking of moving to Calgary if I get the chance
Berta is the best fucking province. Calgary is a nice city, Edmonton is kind of a shit hole in the north and some of the south ends.
Alert is best city
Probably not Vancouver, when I went there it was the opposite of comfy
None of them. Any settlement large enough to be called a "city" is overrun by shitskins. I swear, I go to Toronto and 6/10 people are Indian alone.
Your only choice is to move into a small community where there is still Canadian tradition and culture ingrained into it. Immigrants only move to cities because they think it'll give them easy jobs.
Ottawa/Gatineau is alright. Harder to find work (especially government) if you're not bilingual.
The costs of living here aren't anywhere near Toronto/Vancouver and there's outdoorsy shit to do not far from the city proper.
I was in Sudbury for a little bit last month and I wouldn't live there unless I was a tradie and able to make serious money.
t. gov worker
>west coast is full of junkies
>east coast is full of junkies AND pedophiles
Nice country you've got there faggots.
Vancouver is your best bet. It has less fringe crazy political shit then Toronto, doesn't have french Canadians, isn't a rural shithole without basic medical services or things to do, and the weather isn't god awful. The downside is you need to have a lot of cash.
The scenary may be nice but the absolute worst people outside of french Canada live in that area.
they're all shit, avoid cucknada at all costs
anywhere that isn't in BC or Alberta
Vancouver
Lived in Whistler there for a good 6 years, decently rainy which I like, and has decent amount of pot smokers. You can smell it at the highway every time you drive up towards Whistler.
Vancouver has good food as well and a nice ocean with sushi easily available, you can drive up to Whistler and go skiing or mountain biking and stuff.
Those are the only two livable provinces though. North is hell on earth, Manitoba and Saskatchewan are no go zones, Ontario is where all the crazy activist types and nogs live, the east coast has zero work, and quebec is unlivable unless you speak fluent french. People from the united states would like Alberta the most in fact.
Also that area doesn't have the nicest weather, the lower mainland and vancouver island does. Unless you are from some shithole sandland and think 46C in the summer is tolerable.
Manitoba is great!
>Nothing to do but drink
>Freeze all winter
>Get robbed by a drunk native
Doesn't seem ideal, what do you like about it?
Nature bro.
Certain areas of edmonton are nice, neighborhoods by the river valley in the south west, west, and east sides are nice. Downtown is full of thieving chugs though, and anything north of downtown is literally Black Hawk Down tier Somalia
I'll be joining the Canadian infantry soon. Should I join the Royal Canadian Regiment, which is in Ontario or Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, which is in Alberta?
I have a feeling RCR will have more shitskins, but I'm from Ontario so I can't make my mind up.
I live in the lower mainland currently. It's probably your best bet. There is work, hospitals, things to do,and tolerable weather. The downside is homeless drug addicts all over the place and it's expensive as fuck.
That sounds horrible, and most of the country is nature. There are 38 million people in the massive chunk of land so most of it is barren.
>Canadian tradition and culture
Immigrant scum here, can you explain? It was never taught in school as far as I know; Canadian school boards are run by shithead libtards.
>east coast is full of junkies AND pedophiles
I though it was junkies and shitskins, not junkies and pedos.
I am a Canadian and I too would be interested to know what Canadian tradition and culture is. Is it pretending to care about the britbong monarchy?
>I am a Canadian
sure you are
>sure you are
Oy vey
If you get out of the city and into the nature around it can be quite comfy. Compared to all major Canadian cities, and cities around the world, it's quite remarkable how much beautiful nature is all around Vancouver. Though the city and people itself are definitely the opposite of comfy, such a horrible atmosphere and attitude all around. Of course the homeless, immigrant, housing prices, and traffic all ruin the city, but there's just about the people that makes it so isolating. Definitely the least Canadian city after Toronto.
Vancouver Island is much comfier.

How can you talk about Vancouver without mentioning the junkies?
I figured homelessness fell into that. Definitely an odd problem to have in what is widely considered the healthiest and prettiest city in the world.
Just pisses me off knowing that so much of our tax dollars are going to sustaining the lifestyles of these degenerates.
Rural Canada is all junkies and alcoholics. It isn't worth mentioning because this country is coast to coast junkies.
>Rural Canada is all junkies and alcoholics.
God... Is there any good place left in this country?
The saddest part of it all is the drug addict problem robs resources from the mentally ill and disabled.
>drug addict problem robs resources from the mentally ill and disabled
The problem with Canada is that there is too much welfare and not enough productivity/industry.
All the cities here are shit. You either have Toronto or Vancouver which are primarily bank accounts for the Chinese or you have the cities across the center, which are all resource extraction/agriculture based shitholes, or you have Quebec which is such shit that it needn't be spoken of, or you have the maritimes which is basically an experiment where they did the opposite of eugenics.
>Quebec which is such shit that it needn't be spoken of
How?
>primarily bank accounts for the Chinese
A chink infestation is like a cockroach infestation; it's hard to get rid of em' once they're here.
There is barely any welfare compared to most countries, those legitimately unable to work get fuck all but natives and heroin users get tons of freeshit. The way they prioritize welfare is fucked beyond belief. But yes, there is not enough production.
>There is barely any welfare compared to most countries
LMAO
What is free health insurance? What is free education?
>Maritimes
That area is unlivable but they have the friendliest people in the country. It's a shame really.
Good thread, have a bump.
T. Britbong
There isn't free education, most first world countries have free healthcare. The united states is the exception not the norm. The united states has a ton of welfare too, but in the form of welfare for corporations under the misguided notion that saving shitty companies from bankruptcy will help the employees.
No wonder you're a robot. You don't go outside?
That's not what welfare means.
Why do I want to burn or freeze to death?
>There isn't free education, most first world countries have free healthcare. The united states is the exception not the norm. Canada would be better off if it put that money towards population growth and industrial productivity. At the same time, make education reforms. A fully subsidized health care system is not sustainable in the long run. Growth and development will save this country.
>That's not what welfare means.
What dies welfare mean?
Quebec has a lot of long term problems. French is a dying language and Quebecers are extremely defensive and protective of their culture. This is not an attitude conducive of generating an economy filled with intelligent and productive people. There are many positions, even in Montreal, where you have to be a speaker of French, sometimes they even want native speakers. How the fuck could you ever attract top tech, finance, or any highly skilled professional field when you want them to master a dead language?
Canada spends less on health care then the united states, significantly less infact. Deapite not having nationalized healthcare the united states pays some of the most tax towards healthcare. Insurance companies have fucked the pricing system in that country. The problem with production is caused primarily by geopolitical issues.
W-what's wrong with the Maritimes?
Never been to Canada and I don't want to either. St. John's looks okay, being from a fishing town.
>Canada spends less on health care then the united states,
Of course, Canada has a much smaller economy.
>The problem with production is caused primarily by geopolitical issues.
What does geopolitics have to do with a lazy general public?
The Maritimes are filled with nice people but the industries there are horrible and there is an insane amount of brain drain. Pretty much anybody who can leaves. Right now there are crazy doctor and specialist shortages because nobody wants to get shit pay in a shithole.
But based Ghana did it
They've been quarantined to like five fucking blocks along Hasting
You guys are such fucking pussies, the junkies aren't shit compared to 99% of American cities
Halifax. Its 100% comfy
>They've been quarantined to like five fucking blocks along Hasting
As long as they exist, junkies are a sore sight.
I have actually heard good things about Halifax. I've heard it's pretty youthful since a lot of Maritime kids move there, and apparently its economy is actually decent. I'm just assuming the real estate must be cheap or at least reasonable
No kidding. I was in Onions Shitfrisco once and it was like some shit out of Children of Men. To get in and out of the train stations you have to step over needles and shit and emaciated zombies only to arrive at surface level and be greeted with the wretched stench of stale piss and Democrat smugness.
east cost literally has no jobs, very pretty though and i get the feeling they are racist as fuck if you aren't white
Yeah. Its okay for a canadian city (real estate-wise), and the internet speeds are fast. Also there's a lot of university grads who are pretty hot.
I've been living in Toronto since 2009 and it's basically a meme-city. (I grew up in the sub-urbs of Toronto, so this is hardly a stretch to live here anyway)
Since I came here the price of renting and living in general has raised considerably. Also a ton of what makes the city actually interesting is disappearing. Basically the only reason to live here is because you could get a job and that there's a ton of awesome restaurants and food. Not that the job part matters to me that much because I'm on Autismbux.
If I could transfer my autismbux I would move to Montreal in an instant.
I was in downtown Berkeley, it's somehow worse. Their crackheads aren't quiet like ours, they're running around and screaming at you and shit. Obviously I don't want to step over fucking needles or be asked for cash when I walk down Abott to go to a Cannucks game but we don't have shit compared to that hellhole that is Cali.
>grads who are pretty hot
Don't forget where you are user. I've given up on that a long time ago user
Montreal's pretty comfy for a big city
The best city is Los Angeles
Nice Canadians in that city
how much do you get in autismbux
>I've given up on that a long time ago user
Me too. But that doesnt mean I cant hope for it to happen.
Feels better to let go and put your mind somewhere else user. Acceptance is the final stage of mourning
1040 canadian per month and i have the ability to earn 200$ income per month before it is deducted 50c for every dollar over 200.
if i earn more than 100$ per month they give me a bonus 100$ per month. so the deduction hurts even less.
Regarding healthcare, you missed my point. You get less service and spend more money getting less service. Having employees unable to avoid medical assistance actually is considered one of the biggest detriments to productivity in your country. This is why most major compabies give health insurance to their employees. But people from the insurance lobby win out over data. Therefore your syatem is worse.
Regarding production; laziness isn't the issue. You have assumed that is the reason. No new company will make a production facility in a first world nation due to what they would have to pay in wages, the exception is if the facility already existed. Even if that were not the issue, you run into problems with WIPO and various trade agreements. Outside of that still Canada's biggest trading partners are China and the United States, both countries contain these same production facilities so there would be minimal econmic benefit making something thay would only marginally sell, next to the things these countries actually do wish to buy from us which is our natural resources. Someone not having to go bankrupt to afford a surgical procedure can't unfuck that.
When your parents die you cant afford to live on that, enjoy it while it lasts.
it seems great. cheaper rent, amazing access to delicious varied (and relatively inexpensive) food. the people are more attractive. the one thing it doesn't have compared to toronto is that there's almost 0 attractive asian girls. instead you just have more hot white girls.
plus you can go up the mountain and there's just more interesting parks to visit that you can get to without a car.
sigh... i wish i could move there.
how the hell do you live in toronto on 1k a month?
that's how much my small software business makes and i have to live with my parents. i pay a shit ton of self employment tax too.
i'm going to kill myself.
>parents
Would he be getting that money from the government?
>asian
Shit taste
my rent+internet+phone bill is only 400 per month. basically have no expenses otherwise except saving up for future technology expenditures. things like dentist are covered
I will say it does feel like there's a lot of transients, young folks there for school. Still it's nice to just walk around and look at the uni qt's. Makes me a bit sad though cuz I'm a brainlet and never went to uni so I missed out on all that shit.
you didn't miss anything, aside from tons of debt
don't try to reason with bitter brainlets
He does, but it is impossible to afford rent on that and have enough for anything but rent. If his parents die he would become homeless.
in the summer it seems like there's some kind of weird street festival going on every week in montreal.
in montreal if you hear people shouting in the streets you tend to assume people are having a good time and having fun
in toronto if you hear people shouting in the streets you assume people are being confrontational and something bad is about to happen
toronto is still pretty safe, but still
>french Canadians
What's wrong with french Canadians?
I don't live with my parents. I have been paying rent in Toronto since 2012.
I can walk to the Subway in 8 minutes. I have laundry onsite. The only downsides? It's a basement and there's not much natural light.
Plus, I'm on the autismbux subsidized housing waitlist.
There's no NEED for me to stay in Toronto, either. I've considered moving somewhere else like Hamilton, Windsor or Kingston or something. But Toronto is nice, and I stay.
There's literally no way to evict me from my apartment unless my landlord wants to claim back the unit for their own personal use or family unless I do something illegal. Even if they sell the house the only way for the new owner to kick me out is if they want it for their own use or family, too. Basically... I'm here and they're not getting rid of me.
I wouldn't want to live in the city, I would want to live on a coast or in the mountains ideally.
Cities are too American. What I like about canada is the low population density and the vast swathes of untouched wilderness.
>Subsidized housing waitlist
The fuck? Every other province tosses you $1000 - $1500 for autism then tells you to deal with it yourself.
Also the rent you pay is impossible, no where in the country is rent that cheap. Hence why your story makes no sense.
They are arrogant, extremely racist, and rude as hell to everyone who isn't french.
I put most of my thoughts into my hobbies and job, its never in the forefront in my mind. I think eventually it'll happen, but I don't love myself enough to love another person.
I live with my GF since 2015. Rent is 765. 2012-2015 I rented a place for even cheaper, that miraculously had 2 bedrooms. Shared it with a friend. I was poor so I got the shitty bedroom that was basically more like a den. But he paid the entire internet bill.
Now though? Hell yeah I'm terrified to move. Rent has raised a shit ton as I mentioned here: I'm confident if I left my apartment my landlord would jack up the price by at least 250$ per month and rent it that very same day to a desperate throng of people who NEED a place to live.
Times have changed in Toronto.
They're horrible, degenerate, racist and stupid. Frenchies should stay in their own province.
t. salty Angloshits
Not even the french like french Canadians user.
Couldn't care less about these niggers
