Drugs are criminalized because of anti competitive industrialists not wanting other drugs to cut into their profits, so they launched disinformation campaigns and lobbied to make the competing thing illegal
Weed is specficially one. Alcohol used to be illegal. opioids are the only drugs that have a legitimate reason to be illegal. nicotine ought to be illegal

Psychedelics is a big one. Like apparently mushrooms can help people quit smoking and other addictions reliably. It would be a net benefit to society to legalize them.

You do realise it was one guy who said that, right? He was a timber farmer, well I think he's still alive today, who was concerned that hemp paper might make his logging industry worthless. So he and a couple of his friends got together, made some propaganda videos and articles on shoestring budgets, then paid every theatre and newspaper in the country to broadcast them loud and clear.

That's how cannabis became illegal. Cocaine was outlawed to boost incarceration rates of African-Americans, and heroin/opium was outlawed to get more Asian immigrants behind bars as well.

So basically if you support the war on drugs you're a coldblooded racist. Simple as that.

Blame Reagan for private prisons. He was the first pres to allow them. He's also the present that cut funding to mental institutions and mental health research, which is why autism is such an epidemic nowadays. Back in the golden ages, autists and other defective human beings would usually be euthanised and never spoken of again. Either that or they'd be involuntarily donated to "science" and subject to experimentation. See Project MKULTRA.
