Big fan! I started 2 years ago, I dance mostly bachata some salsa and some basic kizomba.
Overall a great hobby, fun, social and you learn a valuable skill.
Especially for robots it can be nice if they arent full aspie. There's kind of a formulaic approach to social dancing so misstepping isnt as common as just approaching someone at a bar. Hookups are plenty in the community. Also a great way for me to get some momentary intimacy with no strings attached.

In my city a lot of parties have workshops for beginners before the party often for free/cheap, I suggest you try those out before you go into classes.
Personally I never took classes and just made friends at the parties, usually a core group of people is always there. Also, make friends with everyone, not just women, social proof means a lot.

Its a room with music, people come with or without a partner and then you just dance. Everyone can ask everyone to dance. It's called social dancing. Usually there's a shortage of men, at least where I live, so the chance that women will dance with a beginner are pretty good.

I don't really get expressive kinds of dancing. Whenever I've been conned into watching an interpretative dance routine, I can never quite understand how some combination of swivels and gesticulations means much of anything.
Salsa and other Latin dance styles seem fun, though. I'd like to take classes, but I have awful rhythm and struggle with counting and tracking beats.
I've traveled to Mexico several times and want to go back to Colombia in February or March. I feel like at least learning salsa would be a valuable skill, but I know I'm just gonna end of embarrassing myself.

That doesn't look like dancing to me, they are basically standing still.
I took dance lessons some years ago on a whim and it's actually a great time. Kind of like a PG version of getting a hooker but it does a lot more to help you grow socially. Dance groups are nice because you get to interact with a lot of women on a platonic level while still being in body contact. Lots of chicks will straight up ask you to dance since there is an explicit understanding that it's just for fun and not sex/relationship. It helps immensely to develop a healthy attitude towards the opposite sex.
I know I just talked a lot about girls but the actual act of dancing is fun too, I'd enjoy it even if it was all guys running the school.
