Anybody have Arma 3? Thinking about buying it but I see the creators are a bunch of kikes and have split the game into about 45 or 50 different pieces of paid DLC. The base game is available for $14 but to get some main pieces of DLC would bump it up to $40 total. Is it worth it to buy just the base game? Is the playerbase completed fragmented from all the DLC?

Every now and again it goes on sale with all the main dlc for about 20-30 quid. You can wait or just enjoy the core game. Got about 500 hours on it its great even without the dlc.

There is no need to buy the DLC. Each large update was split into a DLC and a platform update. The platform updates (new flight system etc.) were free. The only thing you get by buying the DLC are some new weapons or vehicles. Most serious units play with mods instead of using the scifi equipment from vanilla ARMA III. Ergo there is no need to buy DLC

Eh. I just play single player with a bunch of mods and my laptop can run it on ultra with all the render distances maxed out. Only time it dips below 30 is when I'm in the t-50.

If you're more interested in the Hardcore milsim kinda shit. Then Arma is perfect, but if you want a more casual military game, squads not a bad option or some other game.
The DLC's are just premium content and a platform update. Apex is generally a must Since it adds a lot. But if you dont have the money for it then it doesnt matter. Since most Milsim communities will just use mods for the content.
How so? I feel like Arma 3 fixed a lot of the clunkyness from Arma 2
