I started Dragon Quest XI today, its great. I'm due for a GPU upgrade I think. What do you guys think about the new RTX cards, do you think they'll be worth it? They're pretty expensive, I might just wait for a cheap 1080 ti to roll my way. Not sure if my CPU is a problem yet but most games seem to run fine.

RTX is 100% a scam. The performance upgrade is looking to be 20% at most.

Due to mining fags card prices are high at the moment. I'd hold off from upgrading unless you really need to. I'm still running my 770 from 2013.

I saved enough money for a much better newer graphics card but I dont even play that many games anymore and I can run Dirt Rally and Escape from Tarkov just fine. I want Horizons 4 when it comes out though, and Metro Exodus. I got bored and dont play my other games anymore... although I played SMITE again with an old friend and I enjoyed it.

Vega is a joke. Even with their latest benchmarks they're barely catching up to nvidia.

for the price point, nvidia is the way to go if you care about frames and performance.

you could argue that nvidia cut corners to get more frames out of their hardware with the tradeoff being more washed out colors and i would agree with you. a vega will produce richer, more accurate colors.

all i care about is frames and performance per dollar. nvidia wins there.

Pretty much the only game I play is Project Zomboid. I host a 24/7 server for it on one of the computers. Used to play with a couple of guys, but we're taking a bit of a break now.

2400 is upper end of 'normal' on Ivy Bridge. My Crucial VLP RAM actually does that at CL11 with just 1.5 volts.

The low end ones are basically like normal ones which play games. They don't have heat issues as they use low end parts.

GTA no. Dark souls yeah, the last of us or any shooter no. Most the popular games on console like cod, pubg, fortnite, battlefield are much better and there's no popular ones a controller is much better for. They're far too inaccurate and don't have enough buttons

Some after market CPU cooler. Just had dual 140mm fans.
Got a separate fan controller and power supply and had the case basically maxed on fans 140mm except bottom I put in some 120mm.
It was very quiet and ran extremely cool, I was very happy with my first build.
At the time I played most games. I never stuck to just a few or one genre, I liked to play and explore as much as possible while also completing the game.
