Can't relate op, I'm 22, recently graduated uni, work full time, been with a great girl for almost a year now. I stopped smoking, cut back drinking to 1-2 times a month, no porn. Feeling pretty great these days desu, not everyone is unmotivated.

FIRST taper your alcohol use until you aren't using any. Double check if this is good advice though, not 100% sure if that's how you quit alcohol.

both are time sinks that should be used in moderation. Remove the apps on your phone (remove all time sink apps) and consider installing something to limit your time on these sites. I use Leechblock.

Just a guess; there isn’t as much inspirational/motivational stuff in culture anymore.
When deconstruction, moral ambiguity, and cynicism are popular, being motivated/inspired generally comes off as childish and naïve. It’s not cool.
So discipline is even more important now. You don’t have a society that inspires/motivates you. It generally has to be internal or very small-scale.
People find their own personal motivation; their family, or Jesus, or a waifu. But that general air of optimism and motivation to better yourself isn’t as strong.

because people realise that the only TRUE purpose of their lives is to pay bills & taxes until they die
there's no community aspect, everybody's holed up in their cars while they're in their daily commute, & the interactions most people have with their friends is only undertaken so they can be satisfied with the fact that they went out & did something, not for the simple enjoyment of socialising
even getting married & having children is pointless to these people. Why bother with marriage & parent-hood if your kids are gonna live the same meaningless, empty life, where the only redemption to be found is in simplistic distractions? (vidya, tv, reddit/Jow Forums, "hobbies", etc)
it's hard to find a purpose in this life outside of distracting yourself with hobbies & being required to pay the government/bill collectors
it's empty, unrewarding, shallow, and depressing.
this is why depression is so common, & people have no motivation; nobody has anything to truly live for
why do you think the Roman Empire is so glorified? Or the Nazis? They had a collective ideology & purpose behind their action.
As a community, they served their purpose, together, to make their world a better place to live in. (by their standards & opinions)
that's gone now, and all that's left is the burden of isolated survival
and for most people, it fucking sucks.
i'm aight tho, i'm lucky to have an autistic passion for science, so I'm going to college rn & i'm staying busy with that, but otherwise, fuck man, it's all empty & shallow.
