Take electrolyte water aka snake juice (recipe below):
>Water=2L
>Potassium chloride =1 tsp (No Salt)
>Sodium chloride = 1/2 tsp (Himalayan Pink Salt)
>Sodium Bicarbonate = 1 tsp (Baking Soda)
>Magnesium Sulphate = 1/2 tsp (Food Grade Epsom Salts)
>Mix these and sip throughout the day.

4th day of 1 week fast. I don't get hungry so it's fairly easy in that respect.

Water without salt is actually worse for you in regards fasting because it knocks oit your electrolytes faster

Coffee is harmfull to gut biome(extremely important, plays a role with b vitamins and vit d, which in turn makes your sleep and pile other vital functions far better.

Let's say you want to fast.

You've been bad, eating basically a high carb diet. Your glycogen and water stores are maxed out.

Is the body using the glycogen for fuel RATHER than fat, or is it burning fat AND glycogen, at a reduced rate?

I've done fasts with high carb and fasts with zero carb refeeds, but my overall progress was basically the same from both fasting routines.
I'm just confused at how this works, logistically.

the thought is that extreme caloric reduction while eating food will make your body think there is only so much food around because the hormone insulin pushes your body to store energy instead of burning stored fat
so the body reduce it's caloric expenditure by reducing body heat muscle mass heart rate
The body can't reduce caloric expenditure 100% so you will burn fat but when you start eating at what your "original tdee" was you start packing on fat.

GI is basically how much a certain food spikes insulin.
all carbs spike blood sugar (which spikes insulin), some "non-carbs" like powdered whey protein do too.

fasting/ketosis/paleo are all a different way of forcing low insulin and priming your body for burning fat quickly without killing your TDEE

Some people treat fasting as a habit breaking period where they learn to control their desire to eat by not eating for an extended period of time.

fasting promotes autophagy which helps your body recycle old broken cells into their base parts which are then used to create new cells.
fasting also promotes the production of hormones like HGH which is basically natty steroids, which helps prevent muscle loss/tdee reduction.

I've not put myself on a diet before, nor had any kind of attempt at weight loss. But I've been doing a lot of research and it seems that long extended fasts would actually suit my needs pretty well. I'm a 280lb male and would probably attempt to fast for about a month.

Day 3 of omad and its starting to feel normal. Much easier than I anticipated. Not going to weigh until end of day 7. I feel like gut and back fat has already shrunk a bit. Probably water weight but hey, it's all good.

Is it worth dry fasting if you're not in ketosis yet? Can I start my fast with a 48 dry fast, refeeds, 72hr snake juice. Or am I going to not get the benefits of the dry fast until I'm in ketosis?

Day 11 of snake fast/water fast. First three days I dry fasted then got too light headed and drank snake juice. Had a grilled chicken sandwich sunday from McDonalds. Went from 215 to 199 as of yesterday. FeelsGreatMan

There is no proof of that and only proof that it is good for fasting. It actually helps gut biome and increases metabolism. It does not spike insulin either. It is bad for sleep though.

keto is a meme. Keto merely mimics fasting. Basically you get some of the benefits of fasting from keto but fasting is the be all end all of health tbqh frankly. People do keto for 6 months then in 2 months gain all of their weight back after going back to a regular diet. Fasting is the only real way to fix your insulin and reset your appestat. Do not get me wrong keto is probably necessary if you have diabetes to make sure you cure it but it is unnecessary for long term health. Just stop eating processed garbage. yes. I would try and go 4 hrs first though fatty. You can for sure do 30 days technically but I doubt you make it 36 hours. Report back and tell us how it went though.

15 hours into my very first dry fast (have been water fasting for months though) and since this is unknown territory to me I'm a little afraid of doing it for too long. Cole says you need a minimum of 72 hours but I can't imagine not drinking water for this long. When should I drink water again (gonna continue water fasting after that)?

It probably cycles so much because after people lose their weight they go and carry on living their lives and stop sticking around this thread. 1. Stop eating for a specified time
2. You lose about 3/4 lbs of fat a day
3. You need salt, water, and potassium to live so be sure to intake some daily

I see people regularly consuming carbs and eating throughout the day, and dont really exercise at all without gaining weight.

My thinking is that while its inefficient as fuck, your body does have access to fat stores while glycogen stores are maxed out.
Or these people are doing -something- to counterbalance their carb intake, like skipping breakfast or whatever.
