how come sometimes I feel my shoulder when doing snatch grip high pulls? sometimes I feel it others I don't

also do these train the delts like upright rows or just the upper traps?

can't say I've ever felt shoulder pain from high pulls before. Is your shoulder mobility ok? What about chest?

also whether or not they train delts is sort of immaterial, do shoulder assistance a couple times a week regardless

I suppose it is, I can grab my wrists behind my back(that overhand stretch/mobility exercise)
Can easily OHP with very strict form(narrow grip and vertical forearms like Justin Lascek 3 presses fixes video) and also have no problem doing Lu's side raises with plates.
I do have a problem with getting into FS positioning though and it's fucking me up with getting into weightlifting, feels like the weight is on my wrists while triceps seem paralel to the grounnd

make sure you aren't bending wrists back during high pulls, get your elbows as high as you can so that your wrists are relaxed and in the same plane as bar and elbows if seen from the side

if you want to improve front rack, put some weight on the bar, and either stay in the rack while someone pushes up your elbows, or put the bar on your traps then try to push your elbows up high as if you're trying to do a front rack but with a back squat bar position, if that makes sense. This can take a while

why do so many (asian) lifters begin the snatch with such a vertical torso? they immediately raise the hips to reach a more horizontal back angle so what's the point?

explain for a slow person what does 'power' added to a movement mean exactly? like what is the difference between a clean and a power clean?

There isn't a sharp distinction. In a clean you should catch the bar in a full depth front squat, while for a power clean you would typically catch the bar in a quarter squat or even higher. Obviously you can interpolate between these extremes

power clean is caught with your thighs parallel or higher. if thigh angle goes below parallel it's a normal clean

Back squatting already isn't specific. So if specificity isn't the goal and lifting more weight is, why not low bar, which uses more musculature?

There's more to it than just the femur. And overhead squatting IS more specific, but we forego specificity so that we can lift more weight. Same with back squatting. And if the goal is to train more musculature to lift more weight, why not use low bar?

Bar squatters

anyone had sucess doing both bodybuilding and olympic lifting? It easily worked with "powerlifting" as in doing heavy compounds (4x4-6) since I'm doing ULxPPL and the upper day is strength focused the rest is more hypertrophy oriented(higher volume)

I'll be having a home gym so I can lift every day, technically. I have no problem recovering from 5 days so I'll push it to 6 but where do oly lifts go

some keep a more vertical torso throughout the whole lift, regardless only thing that really matters is consistent back angle until extension and shoulders over bar

better quad strength development, more focus on being upright under load, and more tolerable for volume than front squat. Squatting is usually a mix of specificity and strength gains, pure strength doesn't mean much if you can't apply it

ideally you want to remove lower back from the occasion, leg press could also work

'best' depends on sticking to something and not going up in weight until your technique is ok, other than that it's fine

it's probably fair to say that most weightlifters should also be 'bodybuilders' in that the assistance work after a session is almost as important as the session. Chinese routines often have only 2-3 weightlifting exercises (albeit at high volume) and then devote the rest of their workload to hypertrophy (rows, pull ups, decline pushups, etc)

work through different shoulder positions with light weight while avoiding pain, bands are good for this
