Fat guy #302785 here. I'm 420 pounds, and I told myself that as soon as I hit the meme number, I'm going to start finally getting serious about weight loss.
I have depression due to tinnitus and floaters in my eyes, so I don't want to make that worse by putting stress on my blood vessels. That's the only reason I'm averse to high-intensity weight lifting, or even cardio. If someone can change my mind on this, I'm all ears.
I understand basic shit - don't eat fast food, don't drink soda (even diet, which makes you hungrier), drink a lot of water, whole grains, lean meats, low glycemic index carbs, veggies, and fruits when i'm craving sugar.
But I don't have a lot of time to cook when I get home, and my kitchen is small as shit. Plus I don't have a dishwasher, so I'd prefer to keep the dish count low. I don't mind pre-prepping meals. And I can't eat fish and seafood because my wife hates that shit.
I have a gym membership and haven't used it in 2 months. Planet fitness.
Here's my questions: > Given my weight, and low willpower, what exercise regimen should I start with? > What should I work up to, given that I need it to be lower intensity given worries about increased inter-ocular pressure? There was a man who killed himself from having floaters and tinnitus, even though he went to the gym all the time. Don't want to end up like him. > Good place to figure out a diet plan that is low maintenance but high in nutrition? > How often would you guys weigh yourself? > How to keep the "workout high" going after the first day? It always goes away after day 1 and I get discouraged.
1. Read the sticky 2. Eat less, eat healthy 3. Swim till it's easy on your joints 4. ??? 5. Profit
Anthony Cox
Read the sticky
Seek treatment for your depression, tinnitus
Eat less and move more. Literally any movement at your size. Start walking.
Read the power of habit. I’ll summarize it for you. Habits have a cue, an action, and a reward. Recognize these. Your cue could be putting on running shoes. Your reward is dopamine and the feeling of accomplishment. Don’t feel like working out? Put on your workout clothes and anticipate the reward. Don’t rely on motivation. Make it a habit and stick to it.
You’re gonna die early if you don’t change now. Good luck OP. I sincerely believe in you.

i've read the sticky, and the sticky doesn't address interocular pressure or people who are very overweight, besides "talk to your doctor". I don't have a doctor, retards. The one I do go to at the public health center says "don't eat so much lol!"
and where in this sticky does it say anything about low maintenance meals?
Nathaniel Morris
I don't have access to an indoor pool and the outdoor pool is closed due to cold.
I will start with walking, then. And the depression is in the background a lot of the time thanks to meds. The meds are supposed to have a positive effect on keeping me not hungry but I don't see it

>guy that weighs 420 pounds calling us retards
Get a doctor fuckhead. You’re beyond saving.
Sautée chicken breast, get some greens and microwaveable rice.
well now i'm gonna kill myself because you guys were mean to me >:(
Tyler Young
now go for the 420 kg meme number
Landon Ortiz
Fine, I’ll spoonfeed you >start at 2000 calories a day, slowly work your way down to 1500, I would say this should take a month tops though >paleo diet is the best diet to stay healthy >slowly work your way up to 4 miles of cardio a day 5 days a week >lift too, get at least 150g of protein a day

> Given my weight, and low willpower, what exercise regimen should I start with? Jogging and swimming. > What should I work up to, given that I need it to be lower intensity given worries about increased inter-ocular pressure? There was a man who killed himself from having floaters and tinnitus, even though he went to the gym all the time. Don't want to end up like him. First you need to drop down to a healthy weight then you worry about that. You can just go to the gym, use the treadmill and do some exercises to strengthen your body. > Good place to figure out a diet plan that is low maintenance but high in nutrition? Scooby workshop (link is on the sticky) is a good start to calculate your TDEE and reduce 500kcal from it. > How often would you guys weigh yourself? Best to weight monthly or not at all. Your results will show when you look in the mirror. > How to keep the "workout high" going after the first day? It always goes away after day 1 and I get discouraged. Just adapt your mindset it's going to take as long as it took you to gain all that weight. Enjoy going to the gym and all the benefits it'll bring you (better posture, better confidence etc). Make it fun. If gym is not for you, go running, practice a martial art, do crossfit.

>I'm 420 pounds, and I told myself that as soon as I hit the meme number, I'm going to start finally getting serious about weight loss.
So let me get this straight, at one point you were at 410, and actually said, "okay, I'm going to gain 10 more pounds and then get serious about this"?
Zachary Young
Is this bait? Okay. Well, I used to weigh 370 lbs, now I'm 320.
1) Bike. At least an hour each day, maybe 2. 2) You won't be able to "just quit" soda, so what you do is, you get a home soda machine, fruit juice and make home soda. Mix 1 part fruit juice to 2 parts water. 3) Don't go crazy willpower - you'll fail. Instead make one small change that you CAN do. So, for example, if you eat candy every day, eat it every other day.
And as far as cardio sucking, what I noticed is that there's a type of cardio that you WILL like. I used to think like you: I didn't like walking, running, swimming, ellipticals, whatever. Then I got on a bike and it just clicked for me, so now I go out of my way to bike and generally hit 2 hours a day.

Ur retarded if you think a 420 lb man is gonna do 5 miles a day. Op stop fucking eating as much nobody gets that fat by accident. Youre eating way too much. Its not normal. Eat until youre satisfied not when u feel"full" thats the start. After that you lose some weight from not eating as much start walking. Get into good habits. Dont eat late at night. Dont have a huge breakfast. Focus on eating lean meats and veggies. Frozen veggies are easy to cook and eat and have the same macro and micro nutrients as regular veggies. If u need to snack fatty make sure you dont buy shit out. Bring shit from home. Will power.

Fast bro, it’s that easy. Don’t eat food and just water with salt and potassium. No joke this is the easiest and healthiest way to lose weight quickly. You are just psychologically addicted to eating good, once you over come that with a good 48 fast you will realise you can easily fast your problems away
Adam Parker
I'd suggest calorie counting app. Don't bother with exercise. It will make you hungry and without willpower you will justify excess food intake.
Buy frozen chopped grilled chicken. Buy a food scale : weigh everything. Sauce : 1 part apple vinegar , 1 part Franks red hot, 1 part onions sauce.
When hungry eat 3oz of chicken with a little sauce if needed = 103 cal and 10?g protein.
Repeate.
I have floters and tinnitus. It sucks. I look up workouts designed for old Men with bad joints and heart problems.
You will not need to actively exercise until you have almost reached nominal weight. Just counting calories will do ya.
I weigh myself daily , same time every day , after I wake up after I shit before I shower. Your progress will be slow but continous ... don't expect huge losses fast if you loose and keep off 30 lbs in a year ... that is a success. It means nothing to loose xxx lbs if you just gain it all back. You need to change your lifestyle to fit your goal weight and eventually you will reach it.
1. Sticky reads 5 sets to failure 2. For God's sake go to a fucking doctor 3. Just fucking eat sand. Literally everyone forgets this. If you don't want to cook, eat shit that doesn't need to be cooked. 4. Daily 5.if you're just looking to lose weight and get high then you might as well just start using meth. You won't stay in the gym if you don't want to be there.

Onion = onions
Lucas Wilson
Ha ha , the first time I noticed tho board changed 50y to onions.

Get gastric bypass. You only have one life. It won't get you all the way to full fitness but once you drop 100 you will be motivated to go all the way.
Lincoln Ward

At your fat level, and with your medical conditions, you should be consulting a medical professional and not the internet.
Isaiah Perry

>i'm 420 pounds >I told myself that as soon as I hit the meme number, I'm going to start finally getting serious about weight loss
imagine being so fat and knowing that it is a problem that you wait until you get fatter to do something about it. OP I hope it works out for you but come on...

mother who struggled with weight poor > food stamps > food was main means of entertainment > subconscious positive reinforcement parents often gave me food if i complained or was sad or upset about their drug abuse depression = life is generally harder = need way to cope = food depression = lower energy levels = less likely to go to gym trauma = need way to cope = food childhood trauma = need way to cope = food playing video games > want to "enhance" experience > food trying not to eat a lot > still get hungry and can't focus > food trying to lose weight > drink diet soda and artifically flavored waters > fucks with hunger > food spouse that doesn't discourage unhealthy eating habits and is also overweight > food
food has always been the thing that made me happy. I don't think it's a good way to live life and I need to do something about it. But there is always an action and a reaction. I'm not stupid (inb4 someone greentexts this part) and understand, but the subconscious is a bitch. I need to learn to break the cycle of positive feedback when it comes to food and replace it with exercise or something else.
I'm going to start with getting my VR headset up and running again, and going for walks during the night. If anyone has any podcast recommendations I will give them a try. Anything that isn't news or politics, and more like stories, like Darknet Diaries, I'd greatly appreciate. But you guys have already helped a lot, I just need to get into the swing of things and stop backing down whenever I start to feel resistance. Need a way to cope with that resistance.
