It really depends on how active you are. I wasn't very active at all while initially loosing weight and stuck to around 1,300 a day.

Personally I recommend not lifting until you hit your goal weight. Then start to workout and put on muscle.

1 pound of fat? Probably not, but with water weight and waste, you'll see your weight all over the place on your journey. 1 - 2 lb a week is ideal.
Eat healthy foods. If you just eat less junk food you will lose weight, but will probably bounce back later on since you never ate right. It is a permanent lifestyle change.
After I lost my weight and started working out, I stopped counting calories and just ate intuitively (but only whole foods).

The point I'm trying to make is when you get fit, it's super important to maintain the personality you had before. That way you become even more amazing that what is shown.
