Help save my hair - hair loss prevention thread

help me bros

ive recently noticed a significant amount of thinning on my scalp, hair in the shower drain, and even just running my hand through my hair usually plucks out a few. this is definitely a recent development and im hoping ive caught on early enough to do some preventative maintenance before things get dire.

ive been lifting for 5 years (23 now) and was on creatine for the first 3. off for two and started up again a few months ago. i have never taken steroids or any other supplements besides creatine/bcaa's. my diet is healthy (i think) and i lift 5-6 days a week but have a very high stress job that consumes nearly all of my remaining free time. most of the men in my family are also bald (starting in their mid 20s) with the exception of my father.

is there anything i can do to keep my hair or am i just fucked bc genetics? i definitely do not have the face to rock a shaved head so i am desperate for anything to save my locks. anyone else here had a similar experience and been able to restore/reverse their hair loss?

pls help i am begging you

>was on creatine for the first 3
you're fucked
creatine did the same to me

You're going to claim I'm fucking with you here but for the last three mo this I've been jerking off into my hand and rubbing it into my scalp and J swear to god there is some thicker growth than normal.

minox

castor oil

that was when i was 18-21, though. and a whole 2 years before any noticeable hair loss. i have a hard time believing that the damage cant be reversed if it is indeed creatine that caused it.
can i not just stop the creatine now and rub some weird nature shit healing on my head? i am determined to prevent this so willing to try any evidence-backed claims out there.

Yeah, that’s because the protein is absorbed through the hair. It’s the same thing if you rub it in your face. Of course a lot of men won’t do it because it’s “gross” but many women do it

Immediately start using finasteride, minoxidil, ketaconazole shampoo and dermaroller. Either that or you lose your hair.

Use biotin, my friend uses it and she has stopped hair loss.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoxidil
is this what youre talking about? it says one of the side effects is increased hair loss lol
thanks will look into this

i save all mine for my post workout shake so dont have any extra left over for topical treatments

> it says one of the side effects is increased hair loss lol
you're going to shed more than usual for the first three weeks then it'll normalize
just for the love of God don't fall for the finasteride meme

will definitely ask my doctor about all of this come monday
my weight gainer has a lot of biotin in it already - should i supplement more on top of this?

W... wait... what the fuck? Tranny?

don't fuck up your body with minox and other drugs...just do natural possible measure and hope for the best...1)reduce inflammatory food 2)make sure your blood is well oxygenated by deep breathing or by doing moderate aerobic exercise everyday 3)improve blood circulation to hair with peppermint oil 4) maintain healthy test/estrogen ratio 5)do regular scalp exercises to break any mineralized pores

thanks i definitely would love to save my hair naturally if possible. i looked up inflammatory foods and both dairy/red meat are listed. I currently consume ~3000cal in dairy alone to maintain my 6300cal deficit and have been for years, i wouldnt have any idea how to replace all the dairy in my diet - any tips?

also is there a natural/peppermint oil shampoo you can recommend trying?

well I personally don't eat lots of meat and dairy the only way to deal with this seems to be if you boil the meat/dairy with spices like ginger, cloves, and anise and also including lots onions and veggies to the meat

just massage your scalp with peppermint oil

eating a couple servings of veggies 6 times a day with each meal - thinking about throwing in some seaweed

will definitely start boiling my milk though, thanks for the tips

Daily minox and peppermint oil stopped any loss and made my hair thicker for sure. Didn't help my hair line at all. Started using needle roller and there is a small but noticeable advance of my hairline

Avalon Organics shampoo and conditioner. I like the Rosemary and Peppermint ones.

Low carb diet, stop the creatine, a bit lighter weights and maybe some running, dairy products.. avoid omega 3, DHT leads to hair loss

Rock it until it looks bad and then shave it all off.

Within 5 years time, we'll have stem cell hair grafts which will prove much better than current transplants that just relocate follicles. It'll actually grow new, stronger follicles in a lab that then can be applied. Save the money you would've spent on hair loss drugs and products and even haircuts for the day.

Get off the creatine first off.

>tfw I'm 23 and this is my hairline

Going to just shave it soon lads. Feels like my life is constantly one step forward, two steps back.

I think you’re ok user. Just be worried if you have a lot of hair falling out and legitimately receding AKA like you’re baby head bald in places where you had hair before

GET A SYSTEM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Attached: A.jpg (630x315, 29K)

do not listen to this poster, you have significant diffuse thinning, get on finasteride IMMEDIATELY and use minoxidil every day and there's a hope you'll recover

wtf is a system

Acceptance bro.

Nigger minox and fin is only a temporary solution. Once you inevitably stop taking it, it’s like you were never on it in the first place

I went to a dermatologist because my scalp was really itchy recently and I was wondering if my thinning was related.

He told me I have what's called seborrheic dermatitis. Basically a common condition that is unfortunately chronic and will flare up from time to time throughout my life. I went on Nizoral shampoo and it cleared it up in about 2-3 weeks.

The doctor told me I didn't have male pattern baldness but also said I could be thinning but he couldn't tell me. I cross referenced old pictures of me and I'm thin as fuck now in comparison.

He suggested to wait and confirm that the thinning wasn't from any itching and inflammation and if I don't see any improvement in a few months, I could go on a minoxidil foam as a first step. The second step would be a combination with finasteride.

The problem is that you become dependent on those medications for the rest of your life and they do little in terms of hair regrowth for the vast majority of people. Only a tiny minority of users actually see any substantial new hair growth. And although negative side effects aren't terribly common, they do exist.

So I'm pretty sure I am thinning and since I already have a taller forehead, I'm going to look fucked really soon. I'm still debating whether or not to go on drugs or shave it / do a high top haircut with bangs for the time being.

Right now I'm parting it in the center and the thinning is the first thing I look at when I see myself in the mirror. Although I do style it flatter on my head so it's a lot less noticeable than the photo.

I'm not even one to really care about aesthetics but for some reason this really has me fucked up. Not sure if I should fight or accept it since I'm pretty sure it's not going away.

Do you even wash your hair after a while or are you going around with jizzed hair eveywhere?

thanks bros i will definitely do all of this. stopping creatine immediately and buying new shampoo + one of those roller things right now.

I'd like to avoid cardio if possible since its already so hard to maintain my current size/leanness (216@7%) being that I have a hard time eating (hence the weight gainer and emphasis on dairy). Have had to switch to lower weights in recent years anyways due to repeated injury.
Is the reason for suggesting cardio just to improve circulation? if so, would regular scalp massages have the same effect?

this is what im hoping for but it feels like every year people say were still 5 years away from the revolution that is stem cells. id rather put in the work now to prevent it if possible. discipline is not really an issue for me so i dont mind making relatively significant changes to my diet or self care routines.

also, any tips to reduce DHT?

Explain how minoxidil fucks up your body? It has literally stopped my hair loss for the past 2 years. The only thing I sacrifice is time putting it in my hair. Enjoy losing your hair if you think peppermint oil and other snake oil bullshit will have any significant effect better than something that was developed in a lab.

What do you mean by 'you become dependant on those medications for the rest of your life'?

You can stop using fin or minox whenever you want, you'll just lose the results (if any) that you had from it. And if the results are very poor, meaning no improvement, there is no downside to going off fin or minox.

Finasteride reduces serum dht levels by 70%.
Dutasteride reduces it by like 98%.

Why would you ever stop taking it if it worked for you? If you're getting good results from a prescription drug of any kind, why would you ever decide to stop using it?

Minoxidil is a life changer man.
Yes when you start using it you will shed a lot of your hair but that's just how it works.
It pushes out old hairs and brings new ones out read more about it

It’s expensive, time consuming, etc

yeah you definitely wanna stay away from these drugs haha if you get cancer just take a deep breath lol
It is the majority of people who use finasteride & minoxidil that have substantial regrowth, not the minority. and if taken early can stop hair loss to its roots for life (with continued use).
If you "wait to confirm" you'll lose more hair and not all of it is coming back. The earlier you start treatment the better. Also many treatments are in phase 2/3 clinical trials and are coming in 2021 at the latest. Follicum, Samumed, Clascoterone are some of them. It's better that you keep as much of your hair as possible until then using current treatments.

yes that would be finasteride.

>Within 5 years time
Actually on schedule for 2020 by Riken

I'd also say that if you use finasteride, you can keep using creatine.

Not a good idea to reduce a potent hormone like dht...most important thing is your scalp sensitivity to dht and you can take care by massaging the hair with oil and scalp exercises

My dermatologist told me only about 10% of people taking both fin and min see notable new hair growth and about 30-40% see that it has either stopped their balding.

That's just what I've been told by him.

either stopped their balding or made a significant change to their hair lose*

I can't speak for the US, but in the UK a 1 month supply of fin is £15 / $19.60 and 1 month of minox is £20 / $26. So $547.20 for a full year if you're going with both, which is a trivial sum to pay if it actually works.

massage your scalp for at least 30 mins/day. Alopecia is caused by tight galea that reduces blood flow and increase fibrosis and calcification, your hair follicules literally dont have the space to grow and their life cycle begin to shorten until it stops altogether. It also increases DHT. Lookup tight scalp, galea and hair loss. You don't need to take drugs.

I would like to believe that Based Dr Tusji can deliver in 2020, but these things often have hold-ups in the commercialisation phase. I'd consider it a win the Riken / Kyocera treatment is on the market in Japan by 2022.

I don't know where your derm is getting his data, but the true figure for stopping loss like closer to 90% on a combinatorial minox/fin treatment. About half of people see some regrowth, though only about 25% of people see good regrowth.

The most important thing is to hop on both of them early so you can avoid as much loss as possible and hold out for future treatments that will provide for full restoration; google Riken Kyocera Tsuji for details.

It makes sense. Fin only cuts DHT by 70% and even it you cut it by 98% with dut you still have to deal with testoserone itself which will affect the scalp also, just more slowly.

This is my current regimen, plus pulling my ears back throughout the day to strengthen the occipitals.

Thanks mate. I'm thinking it's worth a shot all the same, especially Minoxidil in either a foam or oil form. Unlike the pills, it has almost nothing in terms of negative side effects and you can get the off-brand which is the exact same thing as Rogaine for cheap from Costco.

I'll wait until the end of the month like my derm suggested and see if I have any notable recovery from my dermatitis. Although I don't have high hopes for that.

>$1.5 per day for a lifetime of hair is expensive
>1 minute to take a pill & apply a hair lotion is time consuming

clinical trials on finasteride alone showed that "90% of finasteride-treated men either maintained (no further visible hair loss from baseline), or sustained visible improvement in, scalp coverage over 5 years". From the same article, which summarizes all clinical research on finasteride for hair loss, says "at two years: 66% of men were rated as having improved hair growth based on assessment of standardized clinical photograph"

What is the biggest roadblock to making it?

>balding
>gyno
>weird facial proportions
>small frame
>wide hips
>not being white
>acne
>bad teeth
>depression
>small penis
>being short
>no job
>no social skills

gyno, wide hips small benis

I HAVE THOSE AND NOTHING ELSE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Hair loss may be caused by calcification of scalp tissue. Read up on the galea and hair loss paterns.

if you're at the point where gyno or small penis is problem, then you're already doing a hundred times better than those who have no chance of ever revealing their body to another person.
