1 2 3 4 IS FOR 1RM, NOT FOR REPS.
LET'S SETTLE THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL
wait...
Says who?
I've always been under the impression it was 1/2/3/4 x 5 each.
sauce?
Correct.
If you can OHP 60kg then you've hit 1plate OHP. It doesn't "Not count" because you didn't do it for 3/5/8 reps.
On a competition, do powerlifters gave to do a weight for reps before it counts? No, they have to do it once. In the Olympics? One successful lift for it to qualify.
If you can do 1/2/3/4 for reps, good for you. Obviously that's better than singles. But the benchmark is one strict rep at the required weight.
Excellent! I am proven right
cope harder you weak shit
you're wrong faggots
1/2/3/4 stands for working sets, not 1 rep maxes. If you can't push those weights for 5 reps it means you didn't reach 1234.
Actually I believe it is for you to produce the basis for your theory. You're asking me for sauce and I can't provide it outside of personal impression but you offered nothing at all outside of a statement.
I've read things that suggested or left me believing it was a working set.
So is it 1x5 (5RM), 3x5 or 5x5?
I thought it was for reps of 10
Dyel op?
it's for 1 rep, yes
it's an entry level fitness standard, it's not supposed to be some grand goal, it's something most people will probably hit comfortably within a year of lifting
LMFAO AT ALL OF YOU DYELS IT'S LEGIT FOR AN ENTIRE 5X5 PROGRAM IF YOU CANT DO THAT THEN YOU'RE A GDE LMFAOOOO
1 year?
if you don't hit it in 6 months consider suicide
desu if you don't hit it day 1 it's over for you, no point in continuing
I hope you leg pressed yourself out of mommas womb otherwise I see little point in lifting.
Tfw 8 plate deadlift before 2 plate ohp
I'm going to be 2/4/6/8 before 2/3/5/6
1 2 3 4 is for retards, not an actual measure of accomplishment. Thus, measure it as you wish. /thread
you could probably OHP 225 if you did it twice a week for a little while and then did a short peak with it but that might interfere with powerbloating training
This feels like a dumb distinction. There's like 2-3 months difference between 1/2/3/4 at 1RM and at 5 reps.
definitely not for most people
225x1 to 225x5 bench is like adding almost 50lbs to your max, that shit takes a while if you're not a talentchad
Yeah I know, but I also want to do the 2/4/6/8 meme now
If you don’t hit 1/2/3/4 within 3 weeks of SS+GOMAD you are a failure
it's for 5 reps, and it's 25kg plates, not counting the bar
Is it OHP/Bench/DL/Squat in that order?
I always thought it was a reference to OHP body weight, 2xbodyweight bench, 3xbodyweight DL etc...
how come you can't THE PRESS 2planet when you can bench so much?
OP here. I just read an article explaining that it's 1RM because all proportion based benchmarks work on a 1RM measurement.
If you're a woman sure.
no
not bodyweight. plates
and it's OHP, SQ, BE, DL
If you’re content with not doing 1/2/3/4 for reps you’re never going to make it
Yes
mathematical perfection
Was that article in self or some other goofy women's magazine?
Occasional reminder that these are the people giving you "advice"
These numbers fit pretty well with what I'm seeing down at my gym.
>I'm going to be 2/4/6/8 before 2/3/5/6
You literally can't by definition though, if what's holding you back is the 2plate OHP they will be reached simultaneously.
Christ Isley get your shit in order.
What does a 1/2/3/4 body look like?
This is not a competition, it's a standard to compare our personal recreational lifting
We can always lie to people on here, but when it comes to lying to yourself it's a lot harder to convince yourself you got in 5 reps than pretending that 1 half rep counted.
Also 1RM is unnecessary and dangerous if you are not a serious power lifter
post body
>1RM 1/2/3/4 is dangerous if you are not a serious powerlifter
Imagine sucking this many cocks
Yall are memeing but seriously 1/2/3/4 is seriously double within a year
The 1/2/3/4 meme is made for beginners who run ss/sl or tm
All these programs run in 5s annon
If it helps your manlet ego to worm up your 3pl DL be my guest
You underestimate the twinkyness of Jow Forums
that was super autistic, thanks.
t. dyel
3 reps AT LEAST
>Let me disregard the burden of proof and call others autistic
it depends on body weight but for an average person who goes to the gym consistently and eats right it's very doable
I bet you also count the bar
>anime avatar
>burden of proof
chill autismo, no wonder you're a walkin talking wojak
You are supposed to count the bar. In Olympic weightlifting (or any serious weightlifting contest) the bar is always counted as part of the weight.
>wheredoyouthinkyouare.jpg
Wow say my fellow basket weaving forum lurker did you happen to see the winner of the virtual youtuber contest? That's another nice deflection on the burden of proof as well frenchie.
I only suck one cock at a time
Gatekeeping weakling. 1/2/3/4 is a 1rm because if you can do it you can do it. There's nothing magic about doing it for more reps except you're stronger.
1/2/3/4 isn't even a realistic proportion, squat and deadlift should be equal until they're both 5 plate then your squat progression will begin to slow down.
I can get them all for at least 7 reps so I don't really care. On my way to 2/3/4/5
Took me 4 weeks on Smolov Jr. for 5 reps and another 2 weeks for 5x5. Am definitely not a talent Chad.
>We can always lie to people on here, but when it comes to lying to yourself it's a lot harder to convince yourself you got in 5 reps than pretending that 1 half rep counted.
This
No 1/2/3/4 is x5 2/3/4/5 is 1-5
>lift 1/2/3/4
>didn’t hit 1/2/3/4
1/2/3/4 is for 5x5 (arguably for 3x5)
>the weight changes so the standard for counting it does
Are you actually retarded or just pretending?
OP is right, in the strong lifts guide Mehdi says you can reach 135/200/300/400 1RM in a year
>5x5 4pl8 diddlies
Who would condone such stupidity.
The dude constantly tripfags on a fitness board geared toward anonymity. His shit is by definition not in order.
1/2/3/4 1rm is basically an untrained average male though...
It’s for reps. 3-5x5
>Mfw op won’t make it
STFU dyel the adults are talking
The shitposting level of this board has gone beyond amusing and just into bad
t. sub-4pl8 1RM dyel
>someone whi benches 225 for 5 benches 275 for 1
Lmao not even close, if you hit 225x5 your 1rm is probably around 245 or so, if even that
Nice cope weakling
An absolute 5RM is about 86% of your 1RM... so closer to 260
>dyel faggot calling others weaklings
>He counts the pl8s on both sides.
>1rm
You would literally look dyel if it was just your 1rm
You guys are fucking evil, you know that?
It's reps and sets you fucking fool.
>I'm doing a program, my program has me doing 3x5 ohp. I have a 1pl8 ohp.
>you mean you can ohp 60kg for 3x5?
>no, just once, my 3x5 is 50
Its for reps. Its always been for reps.
1/2/3/4 is meant to be a considerable achievement. Not something you can half arse in 18months
>2 years lifting
>0.6/1.2/2/2
>tfw born weak and bad genetics
Lol b8, Anyone under 6' that can 1/2/3/4 even 1 rep is going to look like they lift.
>tfw 190
>tfw hit 1/2/3/4 a while back
>still look DYEL as fuck
>have buddy who literally never lifted in his life
>he is a manlet with some amazing genetics
>he 1 rep maxes 1 pl8, shoulders creaking but he manages it
>he looked like a professional athlete a couple years ago, before he got fat
fuck being a lanklet
My BMI is 32.
90% of the time it's people who just hit 1/2/3/4 for 1 rep on beginner LP and feel the need to brag and join a special club.
It actually means, and I take it to mean, 5RM. This just makes more sense, because no one who is at 1/2/3/4 1RM should actually be testing their 1RM so how the fuck would they know it, right? People don't usually test their 1Rm frequently anyway, but the majority of people are doing sets of 5 somewhere in their program whether 5/3/1 or texas or even PPL. So they know what their current (working) 5RM is and probably what their absolute max 5RM is (provided they aren't new/on LP).
So if we could all agree it is for 5 reps, would make things easier please.
equations
this guy trolling cant deadlift 100kg
What the fuck are you talking about? You don't deadlift 8 plates you lying ass bitch.
>1/2/3/4 is dangerous
Absolute state of Jow Forums
technically he said 1rm
No, because no one that weak should be doing 1RMs.
1 2 3 4 are the first 4 numbers
>t. Gymcel
If you count the bar you're a fag
