What are some good mental exercises that improve memory and capability to resolve problems, as well as keeping good mental health like reducing anxiety and depression?

> how2 become smarter & happier???
If I had a reliable answer to that question, I wouldn't tell you, I'd find a way to sell the answer and make a billion dollar company.
Just read a book.
Cardio.

best thing you can do for your life is set up a consistent schedule for yourself
Math
listen to jordan peterson while grinding in wow

>Good mental health
See a therapist. No other way around it.
>Improving memory and problem solving capabilities
Practice that shit.
Want to improve your memory? Practice remembering shit.
Want to improve problem solving capability? Practice solving problems. Could be math problems, physics problems, you name it. Use apps like Brilliant, will def help with that. Don't use things like Lumosity, it's just a gimmick.
Pic related.
I used to be really into "exercising my brain" back when I was 17-21 years old but now I can definitely say that most of it is bullshit. Trained myself to speed-read and got up to around 900 words per minute with like 90% comprehension, started learning a foreign language, started doing sudoku and other puzzles just to keep my brain busy and while I thought I was smart, my university exam results would show otherwise, my struggle to get a driver's license would show otherwise, my poor life choices, shitty job, low income, would show otherwise.
You want to have a "jacked" brain? Don't eat sugar and create stories, write them down or tell them to your friends. That's the best thing that you can do to your brain.
I'll add something that nobody has mentioned yet. Do the n-back task. Basically it trains your working memory, which will help you with pretty much everything that involves thinking. The benefits go away after a while though, just look it up if you want more info.
Mindfulness meditation helps me focus.
Don't wanna spend money? Don't fall for the memes like Headspace and Calm, the US PTSD center made a free app called Mindfulness Coach that teaches the same techniques.
Somehow this
I belong to the people who need things written down as a list to check off.
Else I just wandering around wasting the day knowing I have stuff to. I need it written down in front of my eyes.
Cardio and coordination exercises.
"Coordination exercises" is a broad term and basically can include compound movements.
I used to do this on adderall and ended up dumber
Is meditation a meme for this kind of stuff or does it really works?
Practiced it for a few years 5 times a week for about 30 minutes. Started with guided meditation videos on youtube, then tried some android apps and finally bought a book. It didn't work at all for the first year and a half, then I started noticing a slight improvement with my anxiety and started getting better quality sleep.
Overall I think that you'd be much better off taking a walk, swinging a kettlebell or doing some slacklining.
>Embrace being uncomfortable
>Say hello to strangers
10/10. Best feeling when a qt3.14 reciprocates
"developed" this method by accident when I was like 8 old(maybe earlier, maybe bit later!?) :
When you're in thought, whenever and whereever, try to stop yourself thinking further and try to think back, what led you to your current thought? What triggered it, how have you ended up thinking about needing to do the laundry in that exact moment, recreate the thought process that led you there.
The ability to do just that itself means you are not just running and following a script that your brain laid out, it puts you in control or at the very least makes you aware how you or your brain operates.
It is thus a prerequisite to curing the NPC mentality.
Good luck
Meditation
CBT(Cock & Ball Torture/Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) whichever you prefer.
A good resource is Feeling Good by David Burns
To me meditation is about improving focus and teaching yourself to live in the moment
Advent of smartphones and screens has created people with 0 willpower that are easily subsetable to thought spirals (anxiety and negativity)
>meditation
>effects
As long as you grasp for effects it's not going to give you any. That's the whole point. Trying not to grasp is grasping too. It's kind of a paradox.
Read some Buddhist book, if you're too stupid for old texts read The Way of Zen by Alan Watts.
Not too bad for an 8 year old.
YUH
Didn't realize how much reading really helps me more focused. Running always make me feel great and a lot more positive too. Getting good sleep is key as well.
Cutting down on junk food and eating more veggies helps big time too.
Can confirm practicing Cock&Ball Torture regularly boost mental performance.
