I want to develop crazy levels of self-discipline, how do I do it?
And by crazy levels I mean crazy levels. I want to workout in the morning, work and then spend the rest of the day reading books or being productive like an automaton. I'm sick of being lazy.
What's the point of that though, you are just going to be miserable most of the time.
Luke Richardson
Simple.
Work out in the morning, then work and spend the rest of the day being productive.
Christopher Cook
Not op, but the discipline would increase dopamine and your sensitivity to it, so you'd feel good. Plus you get to feel good about being more disciplined than most people, as well as the fruits of all the cool shit you do
Zachary Wilson
man, no one wants to be disciplined.
they just are. they either have a huge amount of passion for something and spend every waking moment thinking about it (most atheletes) or they were just born that way and have been like that their whole lives (Jocko)
this is the most autistic shit i see on here
Bentley Cox
>you can’t learn to be disciplined This is bullshit.
Charles Butler
don't eat for 2-3 weeks. Quit all vices. Don't go online unless necessary for school/work/etc. Don't watch TV, play video games etc. Just stop doing fun shit. Meditating and exercise is all you should be doing.
Sleep for 4 hours a night and get right into a routine.
If you can do the above for >4 months than you have won.
Aaron Williams
Building discipline is like building a structure. You need to first start with the foundation that puts you in position to achieve the lifestyle you want, and then build it up bit by bit. Start by working on your body, that’s the foundation of everything. Make sure you get enough sleep, wake up at a reasonable time, and get some type of physical exercise in. Then, when you feel ready, work on your diet and make sure you eat healthy, home cooked meals with good macros—and also make sure you get enough vitamins and shit. As you get your body in check, start making some gains in terms of mental ability, play less vidya and read more books, start meditating and doing productice and fulfilling hobbies. Don’t do everything at once, take it easy and stay in control of your mind. Remember, raging storms and scorching heat don’t past very long and just destroy shit, while light drizzles and mild sunlight last a longer time and nourish the world. Build the foundations of your life and gradually sculpt it into what you want, and make things into permanent lifestyle changes.
thats not crazy levels thats just becomming and adult.
Isaac Martin
>don't eat for 2-3 weeks
you shouldn't start with the most ridiculous element. this is baiting 101, didn't you know that?
Aiden Lee
>jocko willink YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE TOUGH AND TOUGH TO TOUGH THE TOUGH WHEN YOU'RE TOUGH YOU TOUGH THE TOUGH IN THE TOUGH GET TOUGH YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE TOUGH AND TOUGH TO TOUGH THE TOUGH WHEN YOU'RE TOUGH YOU TOUGH THE TOUGH IN THE TOUGH GET TOUGH YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE TOUGH AND TOUGH TO TOUGH THE TOUGH WHEN YOU'RE TOUGH YOU TOUGH THE TOUGH IN THE TOUGH GET TOUGH YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE TOUGH AND TOUGH TO TOUGH THE TOUGH WHEN YOU'RE TOUGH YOU TOUGH THE TOUGH IN THE TOUGH GET TOUGH YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE TOUGH AND TOUGH TO TOUGH THE TOUGH WHEN YOU'RE TOUGH YOU TOUGH THE TOUGH IN THE TOUGH GET TOUGH YOU GOTTA BE TOUGH TO BE TOUGH AND TOUGH TO TOUGH THE TOUGH WHEN YOU'RE TOUGH YOU TOUGH THE TOUGH IN THE TOUGH GET TOUGH

Bump because i am wasting hours on the internet and can't get productive
You need to just not do anything you want to do until you have done what you have to do. Doesn't mean you don't have down time you just schedule realistically. If you have trouble with wasting time on Youtube, then just don't visit the site until the tasks are done. Watch the video.
Trust me, I am a boomer that runs my own business.

I noticed that I became much more discipline once I got my diet in order. I went on an extremely strict calorie deficit with one meal a day for four months and cut fifty pounds, which significantly strengthened by self control. After that, it was just a slow upward climb of forcing myself to study, watching what I eat, and getting to the gym every time I was supposed to. Eventually you build up the right habits and it just happens. Start slow and just do it, working on continually improving.
Carter Powell
You can try but first you need to get the idea of it being ever easy out of your head. If you don't have discipline as an innate attribute you'll always suffer mentally in the same way fatties gone slim do. Making up convoluted excuses to fall back into your old schemes will be your greatest enemy literally every second, so you need to always keep that in mind. Start slow and add on top of it, like building a shrine.
Connor Cruz
Other people have said this and it's true, just take it one thing at a time and add a new thing each month. Itll be slow at first but if you keep those habits for the rest of your life or even a few years, you wont even remember how long it took to establish each habit.
Evan Rodriguez
Cozy advice, thanks user.
Julian Parker
What worked for me was a bullet journal. It's a very simply type of journal where write down your daily tasks, events, ideas, achievments, things you are grateful for, mood tracker, habit tracker, whatever you like. The exact structure is up to you and can be modified later on as you like without problems. All you need is cheap notebook with numbered pages preferred (so you can easily create an index). It works because it is a system and not a goal, as long as you use it daily you win and improve yourself. And very soon you will hit a point were things start to loop up and build on each other.
Redpill me on the army, will it actually help me develop more self discipline? Would I need to quit university and work to join?
Parker Brown
>or they were just born that way and have been like that their whole lives (Jocko) Jocko has said more than once that he had no discipline pre-muhlitary.
Discipline is cultivated, plain and simple.
Mason Hernandez
>Redpill me on the army, will it actually help me develop more self discipline? Yes
>Would I need to quit university and work to join? Yes*
*You could be a reservist part-time, when has anyone ever gone after it part-time?
Luis Murphy
if you're making it a question of discipline, you're going to hate it and it's not going to be productive. it'll just make you resentful. why don't you like reading or 'being productive' enough to do it right now? you need introspection, not discipline
Isaac Harris
Tell that to 10+ cans of energydrink, alcoholic, pot smoking, lazy cunt me 5 years ago. Now I test my discipline for fun.
Camden Edwards
>create an index y tho?
I always struggle with journals. There is a great benefit in keeping them. However, I am even too undisciplined and to disorganized to maintain them
Nicholas Hill
Make your changes one step of a time. If you think your gonna turn your life around by just one day saying your gonna change everything about yourself you'll fail. They say you have to stick to a routine for 21 days till it becomes a habit. So I say every one month change on of your habits and you'll slowly be able to grow your discipline. One step at a time. Good luck
Lincoln James
For the love of god do not join the army
Owen Kelly
Bullshit cope. Have you heard about David Goggins?
Connor Wright
Habits > discipline and motivation. Read The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen
Xavier Butler
Because on some pages you will make space for a collection of books to read, work projects, bodybuilding routines to try, good quotes, recipes to cook, etc. Any topic that you like. So your index will look later on like this 2 future log >4 january >8,23 books to read >9,31 work projects >14 february >24 march
The idea is to declutter your mind and to have everything in one place. As you don't have to determine a perfect structure and allocate the right number of pages from the beginning, your bullet jounal will evolve until it perfectly suits you. youtu.be/fm15cmYU0IM
Nolan Lopez
Thank you for shilling me this, I will buy myself a journal tommorow
Here, have a pic of that qt 3.14 that lives downstairs and that I am trying to fuck
>They say you have to stick to a routine for 21 days till it becomes a habit. >So I say every one month change on of your habits and you'll slowly be able to grow your discipline.
not op but you have a point, user. 21 days to develop a habit, 7-10 days to see if it really set in, then on to the next one. Nice.
Owen Morris
I don't know if waking up early makes you disciplined. I wake up at 4 am use the bike to get to my gym, workout from 4:30 to 5:30 and I'm finished with my shower and after workout shake at 6 am and I'm still a lazy piece of shit and waste most of my hours on the internet
Colton Baker
tell us your secrets boy
Brody Barnes
>Here, have a pic of that qt 3.14 that lives downstairs and that I am trying to fuck If fucking is all you want then I've got bad news for you
Levi Diaz
Nah. You only think that. You'll feel like shit all the time.
Nicholas Scott
Hey rename the file before posting.
Nolan Bailey
Better to feel like shit than to be shit I'd take the pain of discipline any day over the pain of failure.
Blake Butler
Bullet journal, imagine some one will find it and laugh at you
Good to hear. I'm bad at building habits in general but this one just stuck with me from day 1. Having it lying open next me to on my desk and whenever an important thought occurs write it down.
You force yourself. Discipline isn't something that comes easily or you're supposed to enjoy. There's no magic trick, or easy tip. It literally means forcing yourself to do shit you don't want to do.
Motivation is something else entirely. Have you read his book? I have it in my room, but I haven't been able to read it completely in one sitting. Every time I try, I end up getting motivated, put the book down, and go do something productive.
You should try NoFap. All this high test, cum retention, attract girls because of NoFap stuff is bullshit. The one and only significant benefit of NoFap is that it builds discipline.
Owen Martinez
its all about microhabits little by little
Austin Brooks
i open notepad+ write a list on it for day for week for month for longterm check everyday each list use pomodoro method wake up everyday at 6:30 go to bed early work out each day except sunday and wednesday
pretty straight forward
doing phd in compsci now
i work 35 hours besides studying
have cute wife
i am happy and productive
socializing is a problem, but i have one day a week on which i meet with friends (ofc i have friends in university and work but this is in an professional environment so very different)
Asher Green
Limit your time on the internet, user. Generally works for everyone once they get into the habit of doing something productive other than browsing YouTube or Jow Forums.
Carter Brooks
The most ridiculous is the sleep, a 3 week fast will train your discipline for sure.
James Walker
You doing that is a discipline, the idea is to continue to add disciplines after establishing the first one. You have to wake up before you can do much else, so that tends to be where people start.
Jaxson Clark
>Making up convoluted excuses to fall back into your old schemes This x100 Also, remember tomorrow doesn't exist, there is no next time. Do it today, do it this time.
Jordan Cooper
>that qt 3.14 that lives downstairs and that I am trying to fuck Well, somebody here has a plan. Congrats, user.
Owen Watson
No kids? Because I'm on the same boat, married, working and studying (no computer science tho). Believe me, raising a kid is awesome but in all seriousnes a day is not enough. I had to reduce sleeping time to 6 hours and this is killing my gains.
Start small and keep it simple. Waking up and staying up when your alarm clock goes off is a great start. Also, simply creating goals and doing the things that will get you closer to your goal is another fantastic start.
Sticking with going to the gym is discipline, not eating shitty shit cause it tastes good is discipline. Take care of that and the rest of the day is yours to work and follow whatever your passion is as long as it doesn't harm you, your fit goals or the people around you.
Nathan Carter
explain why i am considering it
Noah Turner
>I want to Well you don't want it enough. That's all self discipline is. Sack up.
>waking up at X am and going to the air conditioned gym is discipline. >not smoking weed and eating snickers bars is discipline >not being addicted to a substance is discipline
fucking brainlets on this board i swear to fuck. not a single one of you will ever compare to people like Jocko or Dave Goggins or any other hardcore athelete for that matter. No matter how many times you le cold shower xD le wake up 4am xD
kill yourselves dimwits
Xavier Rogers
it's gay
Kayden Russell
Very nice advice user. Its easy to want to try to do everything at once and get over whelmed because of it.
Robert Adams
Have a stupidly strict father growing up, I'd say it's impossibly hard to form super high levels of discipline later in life unless you befall on hard times that require it out you. Especially if you've had an easy life and have been kind of lazy and apathetic for most of it.
go here and speak to the biggest autist ever about productivity and discipline
www.iwillbeasuccess.com
Henry Williams
What did they say that is wrong? BOTH Jocko and Goggins weren't naturally disciplined. They developed. Do you disagree?
Juan Baker
No one is like that. No human being has ever been like that. Some faggots like to pretend. Don't be fooled by jockos tough guy duck face, he's a lazy faggot just like everyone else
Grayson Nelson
Its sad that modern society has really produced someone who could think like this. Just because you're unwilling to give everything to pursue a goal be it due to apathy or the fact that it isn't necessary in your life. Does not mean that people throughout history and even today haven't been willing to give all in their pursuit of their goals.
Aaron Morales
Youll still be a failure even if you read books. Being constantly productive is a meme. Look up the science of productivity, you need a lot of rest and you cant actually focus 100% for a long period of time. You need to spend a limited amount of time doing what you need to do to be successful, being at 100% all day is not going to get you there.
Charlatans like that guy in ops picture give a false message to people on how to be successful in life. Waking up at 4am everyday isnt going to help you unless you want to be tired all day whihc would mean being less productive. Hes a meme, he thinks his navy seal experience is something can carry over to every aspect of life but thats just not true. Being a solduier is very specific and it doesnt translate to the business world like he claims it does. He gives a bunch of motivational speeches about being successful but he has no idea what its like to have a normal job and be successful. He tricked a lot of people by waking up at 4am and sold a bunch of books of of that, I guess that makes him successful, but hes no different than any other motivational speaker that spouts off a bunch of bs.
Caleb Rodriguez
Jocko wrote a bs self help book for business based on his military career and he does a podcast. Why on earth do you people look up to military people as some sort of standard if you arent planning on joining the military. They are not successful people outside of the military.
Mason Hill
Why do people think waking up at 4am is impressive when the guy who does it (Jocko) doesnt have a 9 to 5 job to go to? This guy is basically Tai Lopez but for incel losers. No offense to incels, but thats how I see it.
James Butler
>waking up at 4am
What is the point of this if you have to go to bed by 8pm to get enough sleep to recover from lifting? It's still light out at that time during the summer LMAO
Jack Price
Its just another bs self help advice that doesnt actually help people but it sounds cool.
Brayden Lopez
Jocko does a podcast for his job, dont act like he is anything special in the private world. He was in the military and thats cool, but hes done nothing special in the private sector, aka the real world.
Dominic Davis
Get some knowledge about consciousness and subconsciousness. Most of what you do, comes from your subconsciousness. The same goes for all of us. And your present life is a printout of it. And you can alter it to the way you want it and therefore your life to be.
Camden Perry
You have to want it.
Like we can lay out ways to make you not fuck up but unless you're actually DRIVEN intrinsically towards a goal, not going to make it.
Robert Miller
sounds like bs. Some people say that free will is not real. Therefore its likely people cant change themselves. OP shouldnt try so hard to change himself, he should take steps to do what he wants in life but it sound like op is just trying to emulate someone who was in the military.
Owen Collins
Exactly. Like with Jocko, he really wanted to sell a book about business even though he had no business experience, so he learned to how to trick people into thinking that he is some sort of successful person. And do you know what happened next, a bunch of losers bought his book and listen to his podcast now. Make your dreams a reality like Jocko did.
Owen Thompson
How hard is this to do? I'm OCD and want to try but always imagine I'd just end up writing a shit load of everything and both over-planning and over-elaborating on thoughts. Also would be kind of worried about which is the right kind of bullet to use, like I notice you have several. For things to do, notes about things, things to plan, things you did? Does it make things harder or do you struggle with this, or is it good because it lets you get those thoughts and to-do lists down and then you can stop thinking about them. Do you ever worry you're not setting it out 100% right or that you could try it different? Sorry for so many questions.
Luis Phillips
If you have to plan out your day in such a detailed manner you are probably overdoing it. You should be able to let your day flow in a natural manner.
Wyatt Martinez
Make sure you turn everything into an OCD ritual and keep doing the same things everyday. This is your punishment for being weak and solving your anxiety by doing gay little rituals instead of being a man grabbing your life by the pussy.
Asher Russell
Marine here, we're more disciplined (and gay) than all the other branches, yet we have zero fucking discipline. It's a waste of fucking time, if you still want to join, go reserves, you will fucking hate active duty. The pros is you spend like 5 hours in the gym per day, and the income you get, you can just spend 100% on food, but thats me.
Hudson Miller
Put yourself in a situation of extreme stress with no way out except through massive persistent effort of self control. That is the only way if it's not intrinsic to your personality.
E.g. empty your bank account throw your PC into the trash Give yourself a full body 3rd degree bien Self mutilation (not even kidding) and learning to control the pain Wim Hof breathing
Christian Jenkins
I don't have to, I can get by with not planning. But the planning either becomes an enforced bare minimum of to-do list and no schedule, or sperged-out point by point analysis in optimised order which I invariably end up not sticking to anyway. I thought the bullet journalling might be good at forcing me to keep it just to what is functionally important to get benefits without overdoing it. No fuck you
i have never met anyone who gets 17 weeks of vacation every year
Parker Miller
This is so not true. I'll have times where I'm able to get in a groove where I get up at 6:39, go to work, go to the gym for an hour, read, study Chinese, meditate and then sleep by 10:30 every day. This is when I feel the best about life. I feel the worst when I fall off and start watching youtube all day and skipping the gym.
Christopher Diaz
What's so despicable about active duty? Genuinely curious, dont mean to be annoying.
Ian Price
shit yourself loser.
Jonathan Harris
this. The main thing is to not get overwhelmed and to check in with yourself to make sure your on track
Owen Myers
I think that you should try to do whats important to you without writing it down. Because if you have to write it down, how important is it to you really? You might be trying to force yourself to be something thats just not you.
Benjamin Mitchell
How old are you? I am you 5 years ago
Bentley Parker
Because if I don't have it right there in front of me, and force myself to it, I seem to go to the path of least resistance (youtube/Jow Forums/vidya). It's also a considering that tomorrow exists and working on that vs saying fuck it the world might end so do instant gratification now. Yeah there's things I want more, I've got some bad habits. Some good habits and I do these without having to consider them. I know that's a massive cop-out and I need to just do shit. Thanks for advice.
Jose Sanchez
Im a lot more disciplined now than i was two years ago and i feel a lot better, so i see no reason not to go further.
Luke Stewart
You’ll never make it if you give up user.
Jonathan Ross
Fantastic. Thank you.
Adrian Hill
You can translate bs into bullshit or believe-system. You could do a self experiment on how much of your daily behavior comes from your sane decisions and what comes from the structures inside of you that manage you, like your breathing. Also you can compare your behavior to the behavior of your parents or other social environment. For me this was an eye opener.
Isaiah Garcia
>people can’t change themselves What the FUCK do you think advertising and psyops are used for, and why they’re so valuable?
NPCs don’t have free will because they choose not to use it. The mechanism of behavior change is there, and if you’re not using it, someone else will use it for you to make your mind what they want. Protip: the free will doesn’t exist meme only plants itself successfully in the mind of those who don’t get how to use their free will.
>conscious and subconscious mind Media is used to manipulate the subconscious mind, usually by shady bastards and without your awareness, but you can use it carefully on yourself to engineer your own subconscious mind as well. “Stop watching porn”.
There's no easy way to become disciplined, user. It takes time and effort. The only advice I can give you is, just do it. Do it everyday till you don't mind it anymore.
Grayson Long
You can't discipline yourself into doing something you thoroughly hate (for very long anyways.) If you hate something that's going to be super beneficial to you then you need to change your mindset to do it. Set small goals and make yourself commit to doing at least a trivial amount of that thing each day. It might only be 5 minutes a day to start.
Tyler Stewart
