I've been lifting for almost two years now, and I hardly ever get DOMS anymore. Sometimes my legs feel weak after some heavy squats, but it's not that painful lactic acid build up feeling.

It should not continue to hurt ... but when I move and I can feel the results of the gym/workout I usually feel great about it.
This will go away after your first few months of lifting. if not, you arent eating correctly and you need to stretch/sleep.
But doms feel good man (apart from those after leg day. These suck ass)
I've been seriously lifting for 4 years. I'm still DYEL but I'm hitting 360 on squat and 450 deads. The soreness after a volume workout is still there depsite hitting every muscle group three times a week. The difference is that it's not the same debilitating DOMS. If you can't learn to live it then you won't make it. To reduce it, stretch, foam roll, full body everyday, and maybe a bath in epson salts. But yeah if you intend to get strong its gonna hurt and it's never gonna get easy.

I once sprained my gooch during a sneeze. Felt like someone poked it with a knife.

how does one avoid that
I do abs in my hiit sessions for when my legs and arms give out.
Weighted Russian twists. Just do like a Russian twist while holding a plate or whatever.
Seated leg raises where you basically move your legs in an arc from one side to the other.
L-sit>leg raises>knee raises if you have like a counter top with a corner or like parallel bars.
Also I do a hollow hold for about 90 seconds in the morning with my other isometrics every day

I only get soreness 72 hours AFTER the workout lmao
if I work legs, I get soreness days after i worked out wtf is wrong with you?
