Bench Max

How many Jow Forums anons have repped 225lbs or more on bench? I got up to 235 for my 1rm last year but haven't trained for bench strength since as I work out at home now.

225 x 11 for 5 sets

around 6 reps at 80kg bodyweight

pretty shit

That's awesome dude, mirin. A dude I work with used to complete as a pro powerlifter and his max equipped bench was 505(!) Perfect bench body, short, stocky as fuck with a barrel chest and short arms.

5 reps on a good day at 69kg

oh, I was expecting being called a fucking liar. Thanks man I appreciate it. This has taken 4 years btw. max is currently 147.5kg

Hit 225 for 3 after 1 year of lifting. Feels good bros. ~160lbs

225x8 a couple months ago before a mini cut. I train for size but add in a power set here and there

>started going to the gym 6 months ago
>still haven't reached 1pl8 for reps
What am I doing wrong?

225 1RM after 3-4 years, but got cfs and some other medical issues so on average can’t train for a couple months throughout the year. Felt bretty good once I hit it.

Hitting 2 plates felt sooo incredibly good after years or never making good progress. Grats man!

I bench 180 x 5 for 5 sets
Some boomer told me I benched quite a lot for my frame though, so we'll see what happens after winter bloatmaxx season

Most likely your technique is terrible. Brian Alsruhe has some good videos on setting up properly. Retract your scapula hard, grip the bar hard, big belly breath, squeeze flutes, keep elbows tucked, etc.

I am so close to 225 1rm I can taste it. Can do 210 with no lift off and going deep but 225 still eludes me. I feel I will get there soon though
>5’7
>150lb

Don't listen to weak boomers. Keep at it, you'll hit 2 plates in no time if you keep it up with progressive overload.

150lb is very light, evem for 5'7". Would be much easier to hit if you put on a little weight imo. You got this.

250 5rm
285 1rm

Reached a 320lbs bench pr the other day, then tried 225 for reps right after and got 15

152lbs bodyweight @ 5'7"~

I'll definitely keep overloading, just half a year ago I was struggling with 150

5x5 mothafuckas!
JK I always get 4 on the last set

This thread is very positive and I like it.

Keep it up anons.

put on 60 lbs and become tank mode
swear these tinyfags look at me all jelly I can feel the hate and envy as I walk past em

That is true but something like this would be my dream. Its like an extra challenge to maintain my weight while pushing out heavy numbers.

I have a barrel chest from life long copd and obesity. This means it's not the good kind of barrel chest where you can have great upper body strength, but the bad kind where you feel like your drowning if you run too fast without an inhaler.

Today I did 225 for 2. First time I've hit that weight and I know it pales in comparison to some peoples 300+ bench on here. Today has been a new milestone so I'm happy.

Bench has always been super shitty for me, this year I got way more consistent and my 1RM went from 185lb to 235lb
>6'5" 230lb, 80" reach
>inb4 Marfan
If anyone has any ideas how to keep building chest when your arms are proportionately too long I'd love to hear them
>other 1RM lifts are 165 OHP and probably something like 455 DL

i used to do 5x5 of 225 but i was 250lbs fatty, im still a 250lb fatty but now the most i can do in 5x5 is 180lb

This was me 2 years ago
>2 years of alcoholism later
>struggle with 5 reps of 150
Fug

6 and 4 to finish a set. This was months ago, i haven't been able to do it again

>when your arms are proportionately too long
cut them, make them shorter. then reattach. broblem solbed

i'm at 117.5kg / 260lbs for 3x6 now

>squeeze flutes

Sounds good user, currently bulking and the goal is 165lbs

>tfw can only bench 57.5kgs at 70kg
i hate myself

>hes been a tallfag his entire life and still doesnt know how to build muscle

yeah man, I'd probably be stronger now if I didn't drink so much

235 one time
180
5'9
6'2 wingspan

Proportions fugged from 2 years of chemotherapy as toddler. Docs say 6 inches of height lost. Along with my inside thigh muscle

0
hehe

1rep max 75kg after 1 month of training
69kg bodyweight,180cm
I think im proggressing good

Lmao god damn auto correct.

What the fuck?
I started lifting at the beginning of September, and I can bench more than lmao 1pl8 for reps now.

Lol I feel like this is me every time ive tried to do 5x5 with appreciable weight.

Happy for you! Truly is a great milestone and shows your dedication. You're gonna keep making it bro.

Awesome OHP dude. I got nothing for chest building as I am all tris when I bench and keep a closer grip. I would think incorporate another iso specifically for chest, like flies or chest shrugs. I had the exact same STR increase as you last year on bench, right on man.

My condolences on your aborted height. Nothing wrong with being 5'9" though, and that wingspan should let you pull from the floor with ease, at least.

225 for 7, hopefully can hit 8 tomorrow
My max is 264 for 1. Bodyweight 80 kg height 5'10

>Went from 185 to 240 on bench in 4 fucking weeks by doing GOMAD+bulgarian
>Tore my bicep fascia and had to take a while off
>Came back today
>225 is my one rep max
Could be worse I guess.

I lost count of how many times I ejaculated into my hand while staring at this picture.

To answer the OP, 225 5x5 is my current workout.

stuck on 95kg for a while now

never got to 225 for reps.
regularly i do 205 for my sets, but i did hit 215x5 once. generally speaking, i try not to go heavy.
one of the reasons is because progression is hard since my gym doesn't have 2.5lbs plates.
then again, i think i could hit 225 if i ate more and rest more, but i don't want to do either of those.
my ohp is stuck at 145lbs for 3x5. i did hit 135x8 the other day tho.

Fricken solid dude. Happy to see my fellow fitbros actually lift. What kind of arm measurements you guys have? I'm at 15.25" but am determined to hit 16" this next year by doing more overhead extensions and bicep work.

starting body weight matters a lot, a lot easier to hit 2pl8 as a lifting fatty than as a lifting skelly

Your chest stayed same size after increasing weight that much?

I could lift 1pl8 before I had even stepped in a gym and haven't reached 2pl8 in a year of training. All other lifts I have had huge gains on. My arms are uneven in length and I have huge trouble keeping the bar balanced.

>max is currently 147.5kg
Fuck man, didn't know this was a YLYL thread

Done it for 3 reps no spotter, 4 with a spotter
>mental game is weak

>he decided to permanently have an ugly face on his arm

Exact same numbers. Deloaded back to 90kg though, I just wanted to officially make it to the 2pl8 club. After this climb I'm hoping to get full 5x5 with it

I love all my tattoos. The ladies love them too.

based boomer, keep up the good work

Nonut novembr failed
Thanks user now my bath is clogged

2 pl8s for 12-13 reps if I go all out. 187cm, 92kg. Fucking hate benching.

2 years ago I did 225x4

right now I can only do 225x2

when I was 23 weighing 170 I did 225x11 times but my max was shit only at 265.
Now I'm 30 at 145 and compete in triathlon year round.

I weigh around 190 and recently benched 225 for 3 sets to 1 rep short of failure. My sets were 11, 13 and 12.

>lifting for five months
>hit 2pl8s today

How much are you supposed to bench before deloading the first time? Im at 180 5x5 after 5 months and shit is heavy

you motherfuckers need to get fat
