Whey doesn't exist on it's own in nature. It's extracted from milk, and different manufacturers have different methods or screening standards for their processes.

Typically a combination of expensive and boring label is what you want. If it's glittery and pink it's probably overpriced, if it's "too cheap" it's probably low-quality.
