Want to start working out but currently do not have enough money or time to go to gym on regular basis.
Is kettlebell enough for home workout?
Why do normans seem to prefer these over dumbell and barbell?
Sure can. Just stick with it, mix some Calisthenics
What are kettlebells even for? Serious question I’ve seen two at my gym and they just seem like funky barbells.
They have thicker grips so maybe they are for farmer walks?
Yes. It's a nice strength-cardio tool, and KB swings are great.
>do not have enough money or time to go to gym on regular basis.
Fake and gay. I bet you have cable and.a stupid car and all sorts of bullshit.
I bet you also watch shit on YouTube and Netflix that exceeds what you need to make gains in the gym
depends on your goals. you won't get huge, or particularly strong, but you probably have room to improve with a kettlebell and something to do pullups from.
useful reads, both for you and for :

kettlebell contests are a weird mixture of boring and really, really impressive to watch: youtube.com
(kinda like a sub-6:00 2k erg)
really good for cardio and muscle endurance. I bought a 16kg dumbell and when im too lazy to leave for the gym I just use it for circuits, it brings a good sweat and gives me a big pump
I'm looking for something to boost my calisthenics, should I get dumbbells or kettlebells?
Saxons like me prefer the sword and Smith machine.
It is a great start, like other anons are saying, just stick with it.
Read anything by Pavel on the subject. Particularly the program minimum.
I would also highly recommend getting into barbell training to complement the kettlebell. But starting off the kettlebell will do great.
any heavy shit is good
dumbbells however are better because they're usually cheaper per pound, more convenient for most exercises, and can be adjustable, when you're doing for example shoulder press for high reps (and you will be doing it for high reps since you're limited in weight) you want to be pressing convenient shit so you stop because your shoulders can't lift any more, not because your grip gave out.
honestly if you don't care about squats and deadlifts (and you should, if you want to be the best you can be) you can build a decent physique with pullup variations, dips, curls, tricep and shoulder isolation. For which ANY kind of weight will work, even a fucking log, or a sandbag, or an old car engine.
that and sprints and jumps and weighted single leg shit for legs.
you'll still be weaker than a powershitter because you won't be able to train the ability to push 200kg, but you will be way stronger than a normie and will be comparably athletic in almost anything sans ameriball, grappling and actual powerlifting/strongman/oly
>Saxons like me prefer the sword and Smith machine.
>Why do normans seem to prefer these over dumbell and barbell?
>not doing viking press
Absolute state of Northumbria.
that depends on what is 'enough' for you.
you can get some calorie-burning going with it, or build some strength and muscle if you are untrained.
if you want to train seriously, find money and time for a gym membership.
It's better than nothing, but you won't maximize strength with a 16k kettlebell.
what exactly are your goals? one-arm pullup? super high reps to impress the drill sergeants?
(either way desu, I think you'd be better off doing more specific calisthenics work)
lol
this
>spend 20 bucks on a weight you're going to outlift in a week
money well spent
I'd probably recommend adjustable dumbbells over kettlebells because they're more versatile, but it depends on what you want to do.
If you buy a cheap set with about 20 kg weights, you can also buy a cheap barbell set later with 40-50 kg (just buy the correct one, cheap ones usually have hole diameter 25 or 30 mm). With those you can do a lot of workouts, and if you start getting heavy, a squat rack and a bench might be worth it too. Max weight for these cheap 25 and 30 mm barbells are usually 100 kg though, so you'll have to upgrade to an olympic barbell if you really want to get strong. I really don't recommend starting buying single weights of 15-20 kg in 25 - 30 mm diameter holes since they don't fit olympic 50 mm diameter holes.
