What are some Jow Forums careers that require strength/physique and pay well?

I'll start: Male Psychiatric Nurse

Attached: group-of-registered-nurses.jpg (2000x1334, 400K)

>that pic
Truth. The baseline, minimum number of female nurses each male gets is 2.

>"male" nurse
You're a doctors bitch and a second class citizen in comparison

Male nurses are vital because you'll always get stuck dealing with nurses in a hospital, and the female ones are almost always retarded.

>muh shit flinging from people who have never been in a hospital
>implying nurses don't make bank
Big oof from me, boss

>boss
That's right. Now go clean up the shit off the floor while I bang the nurses in my office

But you're a neet larper???

Is this the start of a tasty new meme ?

>literally the floor bitch who gets called on by alllllll the fat-lazy-single-mother nurses to help out.

yeah no thanks, if you're too autistic, socially inept, or dumb enough to not go for nursing management you deserve to become the floor bitch.

Firefighter. Job market is shit though, get a degree in something else, try out after a few years.

Landscaping. Always demand. Not a career, only do it while in college.

Physical fitness pays off a lot in the military. PT gods can get away with a lot of shit. Not the sort of job you can work for 20 years easily though.

Roughneck. Dangerous and takes a physical toll (plus you have to live near the rig), but you should be getting generous housing allowances that put the pay on par with much more skilled jobs.

Being a ski or rock climbing guide is seasonal, but pays great. A girl from my high school has worked in whistler for the last five years and the pictures she posts are beautiful. Recently moved back east to get an education and a real job however.

Scuba or martial arts instructors are pretty fit too. PADI davemaster certifications cost a bunch of money to get, but you'll make good money if you live in California or Florida.

Fishing trawlers are seasonal, but hard labour and decent money.

If you can weld underwater, commercial divers can make $80k+ with enough experience.

Just got a civil engineering offer of $68k after being out of school since May. Turned down a couple of jobs paying around $45k right after I graduated, glad I waited. Sounds like 50 hour weeks will be the norm though, sadly.

Good on you for getting an engineering degree user, I couldn't do it.

That being said, what's the point in making above average wages if it takes an above average amount of work?

I know a few welders out in New Mexico making about $9k a week. Hard work, but damn good pay.

It’s like you can’t even read about salaries and career maps

T. A male nurse

That would be 468k per year. Damn that a pretty good salary

Psych Nurse Practitioner easily makes $150K/yr

>significantly more than average stating wage for slightly more than average working hours

Most people would love that offer, sure he has room for raises

I saw this exact thread a few days ago. Are you this desperate for valdation from Jow Forums?

Full Qualified Tradie m8

This. Been seeing this since summer at least. Fucking cancer.

I don't know how to respond to this.

Prove it. The archives exist. Otherwise you're just a paranoid delusional.

Do you need to go to college to be a nurse?

Naw. You just have to LARP on Jow Forums.

Orthopedic Surgeon
>Literally one of the highest paid specialties in medicine
>Usually one of the most competitive specialties to get into
>Like 95% white males
>Always using power tools and smacking bones
>Among med students, a consistent meme is that you need to bench atleast 3 pl8 to even consider going into ortho
>More butcher than surgeon

Painter. You will stay in shape and make good money in the process. Pic related

Currently in nursing school, planning to take it to the ARNP level. Thoughts & experiences regarding nurse practitioners? Intending to get psychiatric certs on top of that.

finishing up nursing degree mid next year. Thought I wanted to try doing ED or ICU because, hurr, badass.
Got placed in both, and found out it wasn't for me. ICU was too slow and think I might be too dumb for that and ED too fast paced and I had trouble keeping up.
I'm thinking mental health, rehab or aged care now.

>Male Nurse
>on Jow Forums
Homosexuality confirmed

Just do drop down care like IMC or basic Med Surg if you feel like you want medical. You CAN go right into ICU/ED but most don't, and you are going to be better for it if you cut your teeth on a Med Surg unit being fucked up the ass with 6-8 patients at a time.

IMC is a no brainer to work your way into ICU, or just stay there so you get more patients at a time who also seem more alive.

Psych is really only for people who LOVE it. Geriatrics is great if you wanna sit on your ass and boss techs around literally all day, but meh

Also: tele/CPU, subacute, etc. There are all kinds of different levels in between general floor nursing and the most intense care. Just find the level of intensity that's right for you. No need to give up that easily.

>Like 95% white males
if i ever needed surgery and i got introduced to my black surgeon i would request a different surgeon and if i didn't get one i'd go to a different hospital

Nobody gives a shit about race for residency. The only thing they care about is your Step 1 score. If you score a 240 or above, no matter what your race, then you're gonna be accepted to some good surgical programs.

yeah, i'm hesitant on psych also.
In regards to geris, in Australia we do have techs (we call em AINs) but it's hard work. Not many people I'm studying with want to get into aged care because it's underfunded and understaffed. I've heard stories of single RNs in a facility of 30 pts for overnight shifts.
I enjoyed rehab, got to know the pts and see them imporve overtime. it gets busy and heavy but its manageable.
I hated ED, my month working ED, I had anxiety before every shift, didnt help that my facilitator was hard on my ass.

>Nobody gives a shit about race for residency.
I have a hard time believing this given the explicit nature of med school admissions detailed above. Do you have any proof of your claim? Because even if it were true, there would be evidence of it in the form of people calling it "problematic"

I have helped our program with interviews. Ethnicity NEVER came up when narrowing down candidates.

I'm in psych and I love it, but I took the time during nursing school to work as a tech (behavioral health associate/mental health worker, technically) to make sure. Did you do that? It's not too late. I recommend working as a tech to everyone going into nursing. It's a guaranteed job at the very least. I don't know a single nursing student who worked as a tech who didn't get hired before they were out of school.

Don't know much about rehab desu. Is it like ortho? People in ortho seem to love it.

Have you considered OR? I hated my rotation in it, but meh. It's slow placed, normal hours, etc.

So you're telling me that the same people who created an absurdly skewed admissions process for med school admissions suddenly did a 180 and are completely merit based when it comes to residency? Why would they do that?

What if I told you that the medical school and the hospital itself are run by different people?

rehab was for pts that need intensive PT and OT, such as spinal/brain injuries or just broken bones.

Im thinking psych only because i was placed in a forensic hospital (mental health criminals) in an acute ward and it was awesome. felt more like a security guard than a nurse at times. dont think i could do a normal psych ward though.

i've never considered OR to be honest

currently looking for a tech job now but its hard to come by, might consider looking for orderly jobs

I work in a pretty typical acute care psych unit. Some of the nurses have experience in the intense violent state hospitals and they said never do it. It's interesting and a rush, but it's not worth going to work knowing you might be murdered. They all know at least one nurse who was killed by a patient.

I'm surprised they're hard to come by. Usually they're always hiring, and in my experience they especially love to hire nursing students. Maybe make that more explicit in your resume/cover letter, mention something about wanting to work there as a nurse too...

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

don't think theres been any murders in australia in forensics, but theres been stabbings and beatings im sure. probably the same chances as an ED. This is Australia btw. I dont think our crims are as bad. Still, i agree, no point in putting myself in that situation.

Currently in Australia theres an oversupply of graduates (in the eastern cities atleast) and not enough positions for them, (theres always work for experienced nurses though) every student is going for an AIN role, so theyre competitive. hospitals have a great pool to pic from.

>unironically shitting on a well paying job in the most important human service industry

Ah... in the US there's a constant demand for nurses so I guess it's not really the same at all. Move to US I guess? Is the pay there comparable to US salaries?

no matter what you say the nature of our BLACKED society gives me the visceral and unavoidable notion that I must avoid black surgeons like the plague. I will request a different surgeon or request treatment elsewhere.

Can confirm

Attached: S6-HQ-Todd.jpg (350x467, 33K)

starting salary here is around 50-60k AU.
stuck here, wife has a good career, all family is here. plus dont think it'd be easy to transfer RN qualification from aus to US. I think US RN is much harder to get than in Aus. we only need to do a 3 year bachelors to be qualified

Anyone going for their CRNA?
I work in a endo facility with several. 6 males, 1 female. And they’re all pushing for me to look into it once I get my BSN.

They’re either professors or fellows doing research and only have good things to say about their choices. Tho they’re honest that at times they came close to throwing in the towel.

There are a lot of different paths in US. You can get a 4 yr bachelor, or a 2 yr associate. There used to be "diploma" programs where you just lived in the hospital and worked until you were competent. Those were phased out decades ago though. They want to phase out associate nurses now, but the demand is too high so fuck em and fuck the education mafia.

More of a /fitlit/ career but litigation lawyer is a pretty good career:
>Job is literally about outmaneuvering the other side either through superior negotiation or litigation skills
>Charging clients $300 for an hour of your time is common early in your career. Can charge a crazy amount of money as you become more experienced
>Mental gains by reading, writing, and dictating all day
>Minimal physical demands on the job means you can continue to practice well into the later years of your life. Also means you are not physically tried at the end of the day and can have a decent gym session.
>It is really easy to get involved in politics or become part of board. Easy to meet hot connected people that way.
>When shit hits the fan, your family and friends will look to you for guidance.

I do interior painting and a lot of interior demolition and fence building . Painting and using hammers etc made my right side so strong I had to spend a few months using my left almost exclusively to catch up muscular wise and coordination wise. I worked out a lot before doing this type of work, but trades really teach you how to do almost any movement properly. The added danger of the powertools and knives and damage to property makes the focus on moving properly even stronger. Its a lot of fun lol. Painting really brings out the stabilizers all around the body, especially brush and roll. It did a great job of fixing up my shoulder. The money is excellent, and can be made so quickly. I learned enough in multiple trades to charge >20$/hr within a year and plan to put it all into some real estate. you can go to school while doing some skilled labor too

I'm a Comp.E, I make 90k a year out of college, and work maybe 35 hours a week + 5 hours of foosball or ping pong. The best part is, our office of ~500 has fully equipped and enormous gym that at most 5 people use regularly. Management loves me because I'm not some typical antisocial engineer. Feels good man.

Finishing up school for criminal justice is pretty based from what I can gather. Especially since I'm equal parts Jow Forums and Jow Forums
>carry all day every day
>access to discounts and opportunities otherwise not available
>instant recognition and respect (not that that matters, just kinda cool)
>make $45-60k out of school with 0 debt
>great benefits and lots of potential for career growth
Seems like a pretty great career desu. My original goal was military but since I'm technically disabled I can't do that, so this is a pretty good and arguably better second option. Also Ronnie Coleman was a cop too.

Chemist

>Somehow end up benefiting all of mankind.

Firefighter job market shit?

Not out west. Blue states are hurting. Between weight, fitness, failed drug, psychs and medicals as well as an overall lack of interest the jobs are piling up. Blows my mind. LA city is fucking doing recruiting in high schools like military recruiters they are so desperate.

Most places start out at $50,000-75,000 during academy and probation. Top step prior to officer is usually $75,000-120,000 and achievable in 3 to 5 years. Almost unlimited overtime on a 8-11 days a month salaried work schedule, also 10-20% pay bump for Paramedic and some departments do 1-5% for degrees in a step tier fashion.

Between salary, OT and doing training (ran some EMT programs and continued education) I pulled $130,00+ this year. I live in rural west coast area where cost of living is nothing. Prior to where I was at I was working part time as a paramedic and going back to college and living on $20,000 a year with a mortgage.

Travel/Pool nurse.
I make 55/hr easy. You just move around to different sometimes shitty facilities. They pay is definitely not bad.

Yeah you are much better at your manly 14/hr job right? What a tosser.

t. 24 yr old male nurse that makes 114k yearly and gets constantly mired at work.

Any management position. Being physically intimidating makes your job easier.

>Ch3+ + H2 Ch5+

nigger what

>everyday OP creates this thread
>look mom I created a thread on 4chin again
>(you)

>114k
>Anything to brag about

I make close to 180k with my Finance and Econometrics major, working only 32h a week.

It's not that good of a wage though. I get payed $27/hr working in an aged care home, which is pisseasy work. I could earn over 60K working 50 hour weeks too.

is this US? i just graduated too. In Australia they want to pay civil engineering grads like 50-60k aud MAX. And obviously our dollar aint worth shit compared to US. I imagine you get some good raises after working for a bit though.
