Yes 100%. I can literally say caffeine use was the main cause of my anxiety and energy fatigue. I cold turkey'd caffeine and my anxiety is gone completely (outside of obvious circumstances such as presentations) and my energy is more balanced throughout the day. My energy is now more reliant on my sleep and diet other than caffeine boosts.
But quitting it IS hell. I went through 3-4 weeks of hell. Headaches, irritable, depressions, intense cravings etc etc.
I still have a cup of coffee now and then because I like the taste, but nothing like the amount of caffeine I had before
I've quit before. I did feel a bit calmer and less anxious when I switched to green tea but nothing gives you that productive buzz like coffee.

This summer for a few weeks I drank an energy drink every morning. When I then skipped it one day I got a headache around noon and felt like shit the whole afternoon. Having never been addicted to caffeine I didn't even connect the dots until later.
I don't get why people adcocate quitting cold turkey, that sounds miserable. Just reduce by 10% of your regular dose every day or every other day. You'll be clean in less then a month and feel okay. And if you actually need an energy boost after quitting it will actually do something other than keep your withdrawal at bay.

There are definite benefits but coffee feels too nice for me to care much about them. The downsides arent serious enuogh like with cigarettes or alcohol. The only people who should seriously consider it are those with anxiety disorders or sleeping problems

I only completely feels normal a momth after abstaining from all sources of caffeine. Including chocolate and tea.

Any of these studies that look at *just* caffeine (hint: a lot of the good that comes from coffee is more than just the caffeine) are often done on insane doses that no human would ever take. One cup a day will be beneficial to you; more than that, and you risk all the negatives (shakes, caffeine headaches, etc). I personally drink 2-3 cups a day and don't have any real problems, the worst is if I stop cold turkey I'm just a bit more tired that day.

And the reason I brought up antioxidants is that all claims of the supposed health benefits of coffee are tied to (supposed) antioxidant mechanism

Coffee does NOT give you energy, it just makes your body think you have energy by blocking adenosine receptors which are the sleepy receptors, which IN FACT not worth fucking with as sleep regulation is one of the most importand body function. YOU CAN NOT replace sleep with coffee, people need sleep, and being tired is your body telling you to get rest or fix your nutritions. Coffee only gives you concetration because it releases dopamine like meth, so you feel accomplished which might work if you have ADHD but otherwise it will make you unable to focus, concentrate and think properly. Your body will get used to the chemical in less than a week and you need to upper the dosage to get the same results, even if you don't you get to the baseline of how someone who doesn't drink coffee feels.
Coffee can be used occasionaly when you have a really important thing to do, BUT otherwise daily usage is completely useless and fucks your body up. Those studies proving longevity worth nothing.

I used to drink a shit ton myself. I noticed Id have big slumps in ny day where Id just get really tired but now its pretty steady all day. The only caffine I have is in some pre workout supps I take right in the morning. Id say its worth it, it saves a few bucks and helps with overall mentality of not needing a vice to get you through the day. I wouldnt say two weeks, it took me 3 days of horrible head achs which I just took acetaminophen. Went from like a pot a day too 4-6 cups of caffine free green tea which has antioxidantes

That's because you are tired and masking it with coffee. Caffeine blocks the signals in your brain telling you that you're sleepy. Then as the caffeine wears off you get the sleepiness you normally would've had plus the built up sleepiness that you were blocking with caffeine so now you're double sleepy.
The solution is to just get more sleep. If you drink coffee later in the day it may be effecting your sleep, try to set a reasonable cutoff time for caffeine. The cutoff time will be different for everyone since some people can chug Expresso and then take a nap. No need to quit coffee, that isn't the real problem.

i was driving to work exhausted after 8 hours of sleep. i could only achieve a sharp focus at work past 5 cups of coffee and would crash immediately as i got home. it got to the point where i was numb to effects of coffee such that my energy levels would be consistently be in the dumps. i got so tired of the wavey energy patterns that i just stopped drinking it
well actually, at first, i tried cutting down by not drinking coffee on the weekends but by sunday, i would get the worst headaches and feel so fatigued and ill. this happened a for a few weekends and i started to question my overall health. after making a conscious decision to full stop coffee intake, i got the terrible headaches and fatigue. i finally connected the dots like "oh" and read a bit about the withdrawal effect and it described exactly what i was feeling.
after a week or so, energy levels normalized and i feel way better. i find it way easier to be focused and have a clear head rather than the previous hazey feeling. i drink 2 cups of green tea a day now. it has caffeine but less than coffee. i like jasmine flower
