Whatever you find most fun op. You're only goi g to use the skills in sparing or comp if you're smart enough to not get in a street fight

Boxing. Most people don't know how to throw punches. Most important is you condition your body for it. There's no point in learning to fight when you are in poor shape.

Muay Thai. Nothing like walking around with a baseball bat at all times.

Bjj if you're a manlet or want to win a fight without much violence. Muay thai if you can spend A LOT of time and money on a good gym. Boxing otherwise.

you could do 6 months of judo then 1y of sambo and stay in box

Is there any alternative if I am a manlet and I do not like grappling martial arts?

I keep hearing about catch wrestling. Why would that be a good sport?

id say boxing most street fights you see irl or on youtube are with fists so id say learn how to use your hands and defend against other peoples you will be better at boxing in 6 months than in moo thai

Boxing, then muay thai, then bjj, and then you're ready for wrestling. And studying a bit of taekwondo won't hurt if you want to improve your kicks.

Boxing as there's good, cheap gyms everywhere. Spend about a year at it, then branch out into whatever else takes your fancy. Jiu Jitsu is probably the grappling equivelent in that there's cheap, good gyms everywhere.

If you live in an area with a bunch of Russians/CIS people just do sambo. It's the most complete martial art but most places are mcdojos.

Judo and boxing are great for self defence and competition. I can vouch for judo especially. You could always just go to an MMA place and be an all rounder. You get very fit and can do most things

I'm doing Karate right now

Pretty much this. MT is above and beyond the single best striking martial art if you're serious about it, but the only gyms you'll find in the west are watered down or McDojos. Professional MMA fighters who train in MT always travel to Thailand to get the true experience.
Boxing is honestly the funnest martial art imo. It's stylish and is highly accessible. Plus, most street fights are all about who punches first and who punches harder. If you have the time, also learn how to grapple to improve your takedown defense for whenever it's necessary.

Guys i have an in house jiu jitsu competition and I'm scared. People will be watching. I'm 4 stripe white, pretty sure I'll be blue for Christmas. I should be able to do this, right? Why am I so nervous?
I just want to win my first fight at least.

What sounds the most fun on your list?
Have you tried any?

btw remove sambo if your gym isn't 100% eastern euro

Spar more with ppl who can kick your ass

Muay Thai or boxing before anything else.
bjj is horrible for a street fight

Sambo is the most well rounded.

Judo is amazing but it takes a looong time to be good at it.. you might be able to throw a random stranger within 6-12 months easily but to throw a skilled judo player easily you need years...

It's more practical towards self defense and is pretty aggressive compared to BJJ. It's very hard to find an authentic catch place. Most of the places I've been to that advertise catch is basically no gi grappling with takedowns. If you've got a legitimate catch school go for it.

I do. It's tomorrow.

Being nervous is normal for comps, if you show up you already won. good luck

What do you like to do? That should b the priority in piking a martial art. Also, a realistic appraisal of what you're learning to do.

Other than that, pick something with regular sparring in it. Which, it seems is a running theme with your options.

Judo and boxing tend to be fairly cheap, though.

I'm always paranoid that people will gain up on me to kick my ass (bad neighborhood). What martial art should I learn if I want to defend myself against any urban situation?

where are you from?

Ireland

Violence is never the answer, user

Boxing first and then Muay Thai afterwards

desu i dont like to be on the floor with another man.

Until someone tries to beat you senseless because you looked at them 'wrong' or some bullshit, then it's a very good answer.

Learnt japanese jiu jitsu as a kid. In my opinion it taught me a lot has been very useful in my life.
It gives you fantastic self discipline because virtually everything you learn is a counter to a strike, so I have gone my whole life, having got in plenty of fights, and won almost all of them, without ever having thrown the first punch. It also means that the amount of fights I never ended up in in much much larger, because I always had the confidence to never back down, but was never anxious about throwing a punch to escalate as I was always waiting for them. This meant that 90% of all confrontations ended at just that, a confrontation.
More than that, it teaches you invaluable skills like how to fall and roll properly, which I credit with my never having broken a bone despite a lifetime of sports

Krav ma-chine gun

Boxing

You seem like a bit of a cunt desu.

I just think it's an underated discipline that has a lot to offer and gets overlooked in favour of more aggressive martial arts

wu shu

Try them all, then follow what said.
You got to find something you're going to stick with your whole life.

Id put it at three months for a random dude on the street, and saying skilled martial artists has a wide range from best guy in the gym to pro fighter.
