So I mentioned that I bought an athlean X program, a few days ago. I'm at the end of my first week. Full body DOMS. It's a pretty intense program. The workouts are difficult and exhausting.
It is very different from the usual barbell strength training I have done. 5x5. 3-5 minutes between sets. Etc.
I dont expect size gains, but I can definitely see where I will gain definition/body recomp and improve my athleticism.

Tuesday and Thursday are HIIT type training. 20 minutes or less.
Each workout starts with a 5 minute warmup of your choice. I run. Almost every workout has core work in it, but there is a randomized core workout that is optional for you to do, after your workout. The optional ab work is about 5 minutes.
Each workout has demonstration videos and a description. Some exercises offer alternatives.
It also comes with a 90 day meal plan, but I'm not doing that.

I should also mention that what I listed is only week one. I havent looked beyond.
There are "challenges" that are like tests. You have one at the end of each month. If you fail the challenge, you repeat that month. You can post your challenge results onto a scoreboard and compare results.
I'm doing the basic AX1, but his max size and beast routines look promising for making gains.

Really? Each group hit once in a week? That better have been a warmup week.

1) your HIIT days still include full body movements. I feel like you work everything, to some level of intensity, 5 days a week. 2) the specific program I'm doing is not a bodybuilder split or anything.
Ayden King
It doesn't have to be a bodybuilder split. There's no training without progressive overload. If you wait a week to apply overload to each muscle you're not going to adapt nearly as quickly as if you had done so every 48-72 hours. But maybe your HIIT movements are enough to keep those muscles activated and adapting through the week between overload events. Who knows. Report back with progress.
I definitely plan on reporting back with my progress.
I've done stronglifts, off and on, for years. I never hit 1/2/3/4, but I was close.
I'm 185 and 20% bf (measured) at 5'10.
My goal is to drop body fat, stay as close to 185lbs as possible. Increase stamina. Feel virility and energy that compound lifts have lost.
Health and fitness is my goal, and I often fall from the iron and solitude of a 5x5 workout, when depression hits hard. I'm hoping this is different. It's just 3 months

Pls confirm AX program isn't a meme, am considering purchasing to start my gain trains. His videos alone have been easily worth $100 to me so I don't mind
Angel Wilson
He has a few programs.
AX1 (conditioning) 12 weeks AX2 (conditioning) 12 weeks Xero (bodyweight) 6 weeks Max size (volume training for bulking and big gains) 12 weeks Max shred (the counterpart to max size) 12 weeks Beaxst (a proper PPL with heavy volume for people looking to gain size) 12 weeks
Of course, once you finish the 12 week cycle, you can do it again
*this is all from my understanding

If I do well with AX1 and like the results, I will do AX2 and then move on to beaxst or max size. They discussion board mentions that they are tough. People get results.

Sounds pretty good. I have my own program at the moment but would like to follow something that was thought out really well.
