I would be an alpha male if I cared about status and other people but I don't have much of an ego and mostly want to be left alone so I can figure things out in my head until a thought "clicks" and I feel happy enough to do new things for a while. Maybe because you are creating a dynamic where you are separating friends? No one would want to keep a person around that divides friendships.

It sounds more like you are meeting the more friendly people in clicks and trying to build friendships with them while avoiding the people you feel threatened by (who you call alphas).

People naturally try to connect with new people, you may be mistaking that as people being drawn to you. If you can't accept their other friends then of course those friends will push you out.

Freshman year:Came into freshman year at 17 to dorm in uni. None of my HS friends went to uni so I was the only person I knew in there. Roommate immediately left the room after meeting me and playing some xbox by himself. Tried to make convos like what happened to his leg(he had a cast over it), what game he plays but it was one sided so I just ended that and played my own games on my laptop. He ends up leaving to hang with his friends and throughout the year he was gone for pretty much half the week(went home) and the other half we barely got to see each other. Everyone around me was everywhere from 19-35 years old and I only clicked with one dude who was pretty old but we barely got to see each other. All the other dudes were seniors or autismos.

Sophomore year: Met new roommate for 10 seconds after he came in to get his laptop while he was on LSD. He left to live with his friends in an apartment so he was never there either. Everyone around me knew each other. I left my dorm door open and went to a bunch of dorm events to meet people but nobody showed up to those and I rarely clicked with anyone so I just went back to my room alone. Eventually I'd go days without saying a word to anyone and knew very few people in the dorms. I'm a junior now(not dorming though) and I've been alone like that since HS. The only people I talk to are dudes who I play rugby with.

Yeah but lots of other freshman(they were still older than me) had a bunch of friends in the dorms. idk why I wasn't able to do the same, I literally went out of my way to meet new people by introducing myself and shit(which was really scary at first because I've never done that before). I wouldn't call those people douches, they all just seemed to do their own thing and none of them wanted to make friends at the dorms like I did. My first roommate introduced me to rugby so if it wasn't for him I wouldn't know all the dudes from rugby I know today
