8 years and no abs? haha
Can i grow taller? I'm 19

Didn't it turn out that the results of most psychology experiments can't be replicated and therefore it's not real science?
best I can do, dat loose skin.
not sure what you mean but psychology methodology has a lot of issues of validity. Most constructs are determined by self-reported questionnaires and subject to so many biases. I'm a mixed method man and can see through the limitations of "empirical" data. Replication has a lot of issues relating to that, and just poor research. I'm also more of an action researcher (I'm working in a running men's mental health interventions).
the second picture looks like that arm wrestling dude from canada.
edit: thanks for the gold kind stranger :)
how small is your dick.
be honest.
who?
edit: Wow this really blew up.
Based
Ever thought of getting the skin removed? You look fucking amazing
What do you learn in psychology classes? Like Socrates critical thinking? Do you learn from ancient Greeks?
It's pretty decent but I attribute that to just a 15 year bulk. I've got wide hips but I am essentially an anomaly and that I have massive quads/calves, back, everything. It's kind of shit, people think I'm on roids when it's just been hard work. Normies are jealous.
If I had the money. I grew up homeless. I'm doing my PhD atm so I'm hoping to get into a field with a bit of money. My research area (men's health) is getting a lot of attention though.
A huge mix really. Very little of epistemology but I do like philosophy. A lot of it is about getting into the research. Writing lab reports, understanding models and variables, how scales work and statistics.
hey how's it going :)
>arm wrestling dude from canada.
Legit first result off of google
This is a like typing black science man or that fluffy thing in the sky
What are you doing your PhD on? Also, where are you from? Because where I am from, most subjects of psychology are absolute jokes.
good thanks. Drinking. Bored. Free time.
men's health behaviours. Psychology is a bit of a dodgy field. I wouldn't have done my PhD if there wasn't a scholarship or it wasn't exploring the mechanisms of an already operating intervention. Most PhDs are actually a joke.
Yeah I can imagine, wouldn't want to waste 4 years on a field that's barely scientific. You said men's health behaviour, but what does that mean? Like what is/will be the title of your dissertations and what already operating intervention are you researching? Honestly interested.
It's looking at how professional sports clubs can engage hard to reach men (they do), and how men in these programs (who are basically on death's door) renegotiate their sense of self to engage in health promoting behaviours (they do).
I did it myself, I was 160kg, chain smoker, couldn't walk, prediabetic, couldn't work, Jow Forums helped me. This program helps men (usually older men) to change their lives (again, it does).
It's hard to get across just how passionate I am about this and how important it is for men's health. I guess I do this in silence and it goes underappreciated. Who gives a shit about men's health right? Anyway, this area is important, I'm not good at translational stuff (am autist).
Sorry. Am drunk. Might be mumbling.
also it's 3 years for the PhD, they're paying me too. So that helps. lol.
hey good for you man, well done at life.
Now fuck off
Hello brah I also am in psychology, I'm finishing my masters degree in clinical psych. How to get money our field lol?
But I love you guys as much as you all hate tall poppies. It's alright.
Not OP but clinical psychology is actually the one field where you might be able to earn a decent wage up to the point where you might almost earn as much as a psychiatrist
What was the moment that finally made you change? I love details about how people finally made the change for the better, mine was a heart break and going from competitive skateboarder shredded to looking at myself in the mirror as a fat fuck. Congratz my dude, you look amazing.
>pic related ex fatty
Well if you're in aus you have it made. Clin is cutthroat here and you get a government rebate for clients (six per year). I'm more of an "exercise and self-efficacy as key" kind of person. That's why I didn't follow clinical practice, I do strength coaching and nutrition and essential build client's self-esteem through training and continued progress. I see it all the time.
Can't help you if you're a yank soz. Honestly not a fan of 1 on 1 therapy and talking about how to cope with a shit life. I'm more about making changes and generating self-efficacy and momentum to be a better person.
awesome work!
What made me change? It's hard for RL people to actually see me as this, but I was a chain smoking 160kg worthless fatshit who had ZERO education and couldn't walk for more than 15 minutes. Imagine being at the absolute bottom? I tried all the dumb diets that were promoted by mainstream but Jow Forums saved me with starting strength and keto. The rest is history.
Although I don't advocate ketogenic diets too much, in terms of satiety and actually seeing your numbers move, it's amazing.
Yes, SS is not a meme. I wholly advocate SS and it does work.
I know this place can be a trollfuck kingdom and I have had my fair share of people hating on me, but this place has honestly saved me and this will always be my home.
How no stretch marks?
faded, there are some, they're just faded.
r8 squat form
been lifting ~3 months now. pic is from recording my last set of 5 @260lb, also first time squatting with my new belt
Agent Cooper was fuckin jacked under that suit
need a video. depth and knee positioning looks good though. I always define good and bad squats with how the knees track. If they're not too forward then a lot of the hassle is sorted. It does look good from the pic :).
Do you have loose skin?
damn fine cup of a coffee.
yeah, but the idea of loose skin is interesting. An area of tissue with a high propensity of fluid and fat retention might be more accurate. If I'm dry and lean then it's fairly flat. But otherwise it looks fairly flabby.
Loose skin is an outdated concept. Just a lot of fat cells in the lower abdominal area that are annoying to deal with.
>If they're not too forward
How far is too far? Pic related was my first time squatting in heeled shoes and my knees were a bit more forward than flat shoes. I've since adapted to the heel and prefer it for squatting but my knees were definitely a bit more forward here than they are now.
obviously slightly different angle
Senpai, i heard dry fasts tighten skin, you could try doing that.
I’m trying to recruit players for my rugby club at the moment, how do I target angry shut in men and get them to put it out on the field? Cheers you seem like a good bloke
Maybe. I'm just planning to get some surgery once I get the money. I've been broke my whole life. I haven't heard much success on autophagy of old dead fat cells. My idea is to just one day do a physical intervention to actually get them removed (lipo/skin removal). I feel like once that happens there will be a bit more equilibrium with appetite and gains. It's a bit rough being formerly 160kg and fighting against the regain. Although I do like to stay super lean all year 'round.
Looks fine. You know when you're too far forwward when your knees break. the cue is to keep the knees from shifting forward but it's impossible for them to not, it's just a cue to get your hips moving.
It's a hard one. Generally the idea of football is enough but you should look at marketing in terms of gender-sensitivity. it seems you want men that are traditionally masculine and might find it hard to engage with sport for positive reasons, so as long as you get across aspects of your club that promote and reinforce ideas of masculinity then it might see an improvement.
Is that your idea? Kind of using rugby as a catharsis? It might be better to develop a community of practice that renegotiates men's sense of aggression or control in positive ways. I think successful campaigns like promoting the idea of relentless aggression as a loss of control rather than a drive is key. If you show that restraint is agency and a sense of control then it might do well. I'm drunk, just riffin' like shit right now, I could be totally off. There is a lot of research around this area in hockey though.
On and off again Jow Forumsizen here too. Good work Brah.
Fuark I miss the times with TinyTrip, Quad, and Zyzz etc. but it's for the better. Jow Forums is a good launch pad but it's also a place that can feed you some really bullshit ideas about reality i.e. needing to be shredded to be happy and get a qt3.14 gf.
Dude ty for answering I just saw your second picture, you look amazing (no homo).
man you're looking good congratulations on your progress and having overcome serious adversity.
The very process of science requires attempting to replicate results.
It's not suggesting no experiments can be replicated but rather some cannot.
As a result the conclusion is that journals should demand replication, not that psychology is not a science
Whats your diet like?
nice blogpost you fatherless weirdo
natty?
OP here,nah.
Hello and thanks for doing this.
How would you handle the process of losing fat ?
Is it JUST -500 kcals of your daily estimations and a good amount of protein ?
Since you are a psychology dude too , what about the mental side of cutting , cause that's what I and probably most struggle with cause really none of us here have experienced true hunger.
Also, what's your opinion on slow-steady cutting phases at -300kcals/-500kcals vs faster-harsher ones at -750kcals/-1000kcals.
For which trainee would you suggest which ?
What is the line between science and anecdotes/broscience ? Have you encountered any nutrition/training method that you are sure as fuck works great even though there is no scientific explanation/experiment as of now or even one that goes against the established science but still works ?
Finally , can you suggest some books on nutrition and training that will help me understand more concepts on this subjects. I won't be a sports professional at any point in my life but I really want to really KNOW my shit when I participate in conversations and say opinions that I'm sure of.
That was long but I hope you will be able to answer some of the above at least. Thank you in advance.
Do you have binge meals? Do you find them beneficial as an ex fattie?
I've been lifting for about ten months now running SL, when is time to switch to a different program if so watch should I switch to? 5'8 around 260 started near 300 lbs. Recently hit 225 on squats for 3x3, but struggling to hit it for 3x5. Also any diets tips are greatly appreciated.
I've dropped weight from 103 kg to 81 kg in a span of about seven months. I'm still gonna cut, maybe down to 75 kg-ish or so. The thing is, I dunno if that's enough and the question I have is, when do you start bulking? I've been doing lifting for five or six months of this weight loss journey, started with just doing bench press, squat and deadlift, and after I got better at those lifts I started doing a bit of accessory here and there and maybe some other lifts like overhead press, but I really haven't been on a very controlled routine. And now that I'm getting thinner and I'm not sure if I've exhausted most of my cutting noobie gains or if my diet isn't that good since it's much harder to progress on lifts and some lifts have gone down at times. And also, would it be better to first start eating at maintenance or go straight for the slight bulk once the cut/weight loss is done?
