Shoulders untrained in the past, looking for more mass than strength in that area atm, changing it in coming months.

You can do hypers in GHR machine.
But GHR is great exercise, just lot heavier than extensions.

I know, I just have no idea how to do hypers, and ghrs seem to be more straightforwrd, but also more hamstring oriented, I don't know

A shirt extends to the elbow or there abouts. A bench shirt that only covered the delts would either be extremely ineffective or excruciatingly, unusably painful.

Also the ribcage noticeably compresses during a decent equipped bench from the force of the elastic effect. And they descend unusually slow.

It is a different lift. It's not really equipped 'bench'. It's equipped row-bench or something.

It has a huge learning curve, especially if they're good equipment that fit you pretty tight. Imo benching is the hardest, followed by squat.

It works by means of storing elastic energy during the eccentric (exercise, guess how much this helps in the deadlift and why).

In practice, you put on tight equipment the first time and are unable to do a legal lift with any weight. Unable to hit depth, or to stand up with it. And it hurts. It takes many many sessions to learn to be consistent enough, to ignore the pain, to get used to tight kit (as opposed to softer or looser stuff that doesn't add much), to wrap the knees effectively (read as tight as you can and be conditioned enough to squat after). And it hurts because it cuts into your skin, especially with thin, old single ply stuff. This means you can train it basically just once a week. And it's exhausting. An equipped max tires you more than your raw max.

I'd suggest a 400 raw wilk-ish before you start adding extra training variables like equipment. Your comp skills in raw (ie peaking and doing legal lifts consistently) should be a solved problem before you try competing in equipment. And if you don't want to compete in equipment, don't use it because it's not worth it.

He had a bmi of about 17 and he was grinding those 5s with 70ish kg and microloading and adding .5kg a week. 500g. A week. After a year of training he didn't squat 100kg.

Ive seen a different, middle aged, GDE train for several years to achieve 199 wilks at his first and only comp before muwpc got too big and he was kicked out of main training hours for being bad (and then he quit)
