72 hours into another snake juice fast, getting to a relatively healthy weight now (6ft 175lb) and it's getting really hard to go longer like I used to when I was 240 or 200. is this normal? how can i help extend the fasts i do, something like bone broth? or do i just submit and do omad and cut out weekends.

yeah imo it is quite hard. you should never eat more frequently than 23/1 OMAD though, as weight gain and inflammation are basically guaranteed at that point if you are eating 2MAD or every 12 hours etc

i personally hate caffeine because it makes my heart race but if you must drink it then i'd say go for it. we have enough evidence that it seems to not matter

empty your house from food the coming weeks while doing OMAD, dont even worry to much about what you eat as long as its a 2 hour feeding window or 1 hour if you can take it. make sure there is literally no food in your house. at this point if you are not confident enough for a long fast buy some eggs and broccoli or cucumbers or whatever veggie you can steam (or boil if you must) or eat raw, even carrots and beets are fine for now but your goal is keto so i would go for greens in the end.
now when you think you can keep going keep going, but if you really are at breaking point eat the eggs boiled and 2kg of veggies if you must, hell even 15 eggs if you must. just try to keep it in a tight eating window. DO NOT EVER BRING JUNK INTO YOUR HOUSE. even if you buy it, fucking eat it outside your house and tell yourself what a piece of shit you are for buying junk instead of fruit. because next point, if you really really feel like breaking hardcore EAT FUCKING FRUIT AND FATTY MEAT. HELL i have eaten 2kg of tangerines and a kg of pears, thats 1400 cals but at least it was not junk. even fucking eating bacon and fried eggs until you feel sick is better then going for mc donalds or icecream

Ok I'm gonna fast for a month and want to scientifically document the changes in my bf%, RMR and overall shape. I want to do this to satiate my own curiosity and have a case study on how effective a single prolonged fast is for cutting. I found a place that I can get a Dexa scan, RMR test and 3d imaging of my body. However I lack any resources for where's I can get a chemical test to measure chemicals like HGH, insulin, testosterone, myostatin, etc. I'd prefer if this wouldn't be too expensive as I'm already going to end up dropping around $700 on the tests I know I'll be doing. If there's a place I could get it done in person, I'm in the Dallas area. I haven't found any detailed information on exactly what blood panels offered near me will measure though. I'm planning to do a simple wet fast for the duration, taking multivitamins even though I don't need to and trying to maintain my current levels of strength for as long as possible (.75/1.5/2/2.5)
In the final report I'll include all raw data as well as a summary. Can /fast/ think of any additional considerations I should make? Also does anyone know of labs that do mail in blood work? Expect the report early to mid February.

if you absolutely must stay on the pills, then yeah its gonna be a process of personal trial and error. find something that still tastes good, watch the scale like a hawk, and then power through the hunger unless you start getting dizzy or spasmy or in a stupor. then you need to eat a variety of foods that will give you every vitamin and mineral out there because in pure form, problems may arise

muscle loss on a fast is a theoretical 65g per day, so for argument's sake let's say 1lb of muscle per week. this muscle loss comes from all muscles equally' whether it is your intestines, your ass, your quads, your bicep, your skin.
Since you have at least 125lb of lean body mass on you, if not more, you've got nothing to worry about because by the time you lose all the weight, you'll either still have the muscle or you can easily leanbulk what you lost

Got a few questions, starting a 2 week fast tomorrow. Can i get my electrolytes from nuun tablets (pic rel). Can i drink bone broth? (Cause isnt it basically water with nutrients?) Should i be avoiding the gym for these 2 weeks or can i still go?
I mean, I don't want to sound curt or like a know it all, but a reading of the wikipedia page for "Protein" and "Essential Amino Acids" would probably provide a ton of sources that detail clinical and laboratory observations of what protein is, what it does, and why organisms would die without it (given months or years without it).
As for the very specific number, all I can say is that I am trusting that the NIH uses the 56g protein number (I stated 65g for people who are a bit heavier or want to gain muscle) because 56g would be sufficient to prevent you from dying of organ failure
Perhaps it is higher or lower? But it is a good ballpark. I have barely any biceps or quads but I'm sure I have a good 120lbs of bone, water, skin, visceral organ tissue, and structural muscle. The rest is fat.
Btw 56g of protein is like a quarter pound of chicken, barely anything. Could be eaten in a few bites

I dont know what electrolytes are in there but if your heart starts pounding, legs spasm, or you faint upon standing, you need more electrolytes and possibly food if it continues to be bad for hours
In my experience, symptoms will come and go every few hours. The body is constantly releasing hormones that are yelling at the brain to make you do something about fasting. It doesn't matter how much vits and mins you are taking in sometimes- your GI tract and kidneys will somehow find a way to fuck up the absorption and secretion of these things into your blood on an hourly basis, and if it's not in your blood, then you get symptoms
Bone broth is good shit but extremely salty and will cause water retention that might mask your weight loss. Be mindful of this and otherwise it's probably fine. Makes me fart a ton though so I avoid

im on 11th day on keto one meal a day and 3 times a week exercise and i feel like absolute shit. i dont believe its keto flu since i was ok until 2 days ago i have 2 days of food in my stomach that wont go down despite eating celery, spinach, lettuce and i feel so weird, yesterday i didnt eat for 30 hours and i felt like im getting stabbed in the gut after every move in training and when i went home and made something to eat i couldnt even finish half of it and food had less than 1000 calories. all though one meal a day is going very nice for me and i dont feel hunger at all, i think keto shit is fucking with me.

1) you need the potassium, fine salt only has sodium. you don't need the salts if you go 3-4 days only and then refeed 2) muscle loss will be minimal if you don't eat anything. fasting is muscle sparing 3) many reasons for headaches: caffeine/sugar withdrawals, keto flu, could be anything. not dangerous. you can workout if you want
yeah keto is not for everyone, could be hard on your digestion if you haven't done it before. if you do OMAD, you can eat a little bit of carbs. this might make your progress a little slower but your digestion will be better. you just need more experience with your body
this is a good indicator of an eating disorder. calculate your TDEE with losertown, create a calorie goal, weigh your food and track your calories every day.

Last day of food tomorrow then back to fasting, will probably be 14 days then eat for 5 (got a couple of events), then another 7 - 14, at which point no more long ass fasts, just keto & OMAD or 2MAD.
Also noticed that after my last lot of fasting, while I didn't eat full keto (more like sore carb, like 1 can of lentils a day and carbs from tomatoes, carrots, pumpkin soup), I ate a lot more fat than I have previously & had zero issues with binging, cravings, etc. In the two weeks of eating since my last lot of fasting (fasted 28 of 33 days) it hasn't even crossed my mind once to go an gorge on sugary shit, not a single fucking craving, fat is satiating as fuck, really looking forward to full keto after this next fast.
