Thanks bb. I'm working hard to build more ass but it's a challenge. Like in the past few months it's definitely grown a little but I still want to lose some fat too and tighten up... but am really enjoying lifting too and don't want to slow that progress either.

Thanks! Still a ways to go for sure but I definitely see changes. The best is that almost everything is physically easier - my job has some days of sitting all day and some days with tons of activity, and during the active days it's 200% easier and I don't get worn out compared to my coworkers. I also find my posture is better and I have less back pain (was in a car accident a few years ago and also have arthritis so it's usually bugging me).

I've seen this posted here a LOT on Jow Forums and I personally think frame has more 'weight' in the equation than height. Like the shortest guy I have dated was 5'5" but he had a pretty large frame, broad shoulders, his hands were bigger than mine etc. So I guess frame>intelligence >sense of humour>face and height are maybe tied>status.

The status thing is weird, like I'm not sure what that actually refers to. Maybe for younger people in high school/university this matters, but at this point in my life I just want him to not be creepy or have a shit attitude about life. I'd like a guy to have his own friends, hobbies and interests and a "real job" so he can support himself and have something to do outside of me. I'm pretty introverted and enjoy socializing with close friends maybe a few times a month. I don't like feeling pressed to socialize or impress randos. I also make my own money and think guys wasting cash on status symbols, pretty cars and flashy shit is ridiculous.

my thought then is that if we do the calculation and assume you're 20% bf right now at 156 lbs, you have 31 lbs of fat on you. if you lost 12 lbs of that fat you'd be down to 142 lbs you'd be at 12.5% bf. i doubt you can get that low on your frame and ~142 lbs.

I do think I'd look better around 140lbs with a bit more muscle, but I'm definitely not the ham planet I once was and I'm happy with the progress I'm making. I also don't think average men are very good at gauging women's body weights. Frame, height and genetic body fat distribution make a difference in female bodies too.

FWIW your absolute bodyweight isn't important, your body composition is, but I think you know that, and bodyfat distribution is also important. I'm a 6'4" man and at one point was well over 300lbs (close to 320 I think) and while I remember being miserable that way, it was distributed all over so it didn't look as bad as it could have. Also FWIW from your pics you look like you're somewhere between 15% and 20% bodyfat right now. More muscle definition would look nice on you, but (just my personal opinion) don't go overboard with it unless you really want to. As you are right now, if you've got a nice face to go with the rest of you, and are not a pushover personality-wise, you probaby intimidate guys in your age bracket a bit.

Can you guys give me advice? My main goal is gaining size rather than strength so I rarely load a weight I can't lift for at least 10 reps. Is this slowing down my progress? I've gained a little size in the last few months but progress is slow. I'm also stupidly weak and my form is shit.

Will adding strength sessions in make me gain size? Should I load up the machines to high weights so I don't send myself to snap city?

Go to gym at 3am, just google "body weight strength exercises" and once you've mastered those just do them at the gym with some 5kg weights.

Muh genetics. I have a smaller upper body but my thighs are thick. As a result it's hard for me to gauge what my body fat actually is because a lot of images show women with more proportional fat distribution. I don't even have a proper pear shaped body, my ass isn't that big. Some of it's muscle but a lot of it's fat. My mom was like that too. Buying pants is challenging, they usually fit in the hips, are loose in the waist, and then tight on my thighs and calves.

I would guess that it's even more challenging for women to buy clothes that fit them properly when you're not shaped typically due to physical training than it is for us men, but at least companies like Levi Strauss make different versions of jeans for us to accomodate muscular legs. Not so much for womens' clothes.

If you can find somewhere that can do a DXA scan then you'll get total body composition, also broken down by area (legs, arms, torso). Otherwise, if your bone density is in a normal range, hydrostatic weighing is pretty accurate. Beyond those there are skin calipers, which can be fairly accurate when administered by someone experienced. These 'body composition scales' that run an electrical signal through your body are of variable accuracy because they're affected by things like your hydration state.
