Hex Bar Deadlift

Is it okay to replace my normal deadlifts with hex bar if I don't plan to compete? It's still a back exercise right?
I find conventional starting position to be awkward, mostly because of height and leverages. Using Hex Bar with the high handles feels the best.

Merry Christmas

It's better than a regular deadlift

I do hex bar exclusively now, they are much safer and it is easier to get full activation while using it.

Holy shit literally came to Jow Forums to make this thread, used one at the gym yesterday for the first time, legs, lower back, lats and shoulders all have doms.

what is the best lift in the world and why is it the deadlift

They're too narrow for me. I need a wider stance.

What's the actual difference

Some days it's the best lift in the world, on other days I fucking hate it and don't even want to do it.

I wish I could grow all my muscles at the same time just by doing bench, deadlift and OHP

Feel like He-man raising his sword when I do OHP even tho its only 25kg lel

Deadlifts are a meme. They're for morbidly obese powerlifters who compensate for lack of aesthetics with self-righteous wanking over low-return MUH STRONGMAN exercises.

Imagine coping this hard

I usually switch between the two t b h. Something like barbell-hexbar-barbell

Imagine being this salty, in more than one sense of the term.

as in 2.5kg each side 12.5kg each side or 25kg each side?

probably: strongerbyscience.com/trap-bar-deadlifts/

depending on your goals, you may want to figure out a way to use the low handles, or even pull from a small deficit.

12.5kg kek

>Want to do lower handles cause better ROM
>Knurling is so aggressive I nearly bleed at low weight

Forever high handle deficit

Here strongerbyscience.com/trap-bar-deadlifts/

how much does it matter which handles I use? I feel like I can do ALOT more weight by using the upper handles, prolly because my hamstrings are weak. It feels like cheating to use them, but on the other hand I already have some concerns with my lower spine so...

nigga use gloves

i must have been deadlifting/squatting with the wrong pelvic tilt,
because i only built huge quads doing conventional, not my hammies

nice one user still stuck at 15kg each side here for 2 months any idea how to progress?

>Knurling is so aggressive I nearly bleed at low weight
Would sandpapering that up work?

The key is to keep your ass up and actually do a deadlift. A lot of people basically just do a squat with a nearly upright torso.

>The key is to keep your ass up
What if you're in prison

It's not my bar

I'd use straps but it's the only lift I'd need them for so it's not worth it atm

Both techniques are valid

5/3/1 boring but big put like 30 lbs on me

fix your form on conventional or try sumo

post your deadlift

Daily reminder that traps are gay

>Both techniques are valid
Not if the goal is to replace your conventional deadlift

I was like that in april and may (didnt lift all summer :( ) I got up to 40kg pretty quick but got stuck on 47.5 for aaages.

the only thing I can say is to add any time amount to each side, like right now your doing 15kg each side, eat well and do OHP as first lift of the session My gym has 0.5 1.0 and 1.5kg+ plates and so thats what I did,

I added 0.5 to each side and just tried as hard as I could. If I failed I tried again next session if I failed again Id try 1 more time, if I failed them I deload by 10%

Im not a very experienced lifter tho, only lifting maybe 9 or 10 months total

I have herniated discs, L3/L4/L5/S1, deadlifting gives me pain in my lower back badly, but I know that i need to work those muscles. Could a hexbar help me with this?

thanks for the info anons

It’s a great exercise, it targets Quads over hamstrings. Still good back and trap development

Not better, just different. You may think it’s “better” because your Quads and stronger than hams, so you can lift more

Name of this Filipino cutie?

Can I count clean&push press as one lift?

More of a deadlift than that's for sure

Why not both? I do it as an accessory exercise after my main DL set. For example, yesterday I worked up to a 1x5x410 on conventional, then did 3x6x315 with hex bar. It's really good for traps, grip, forearms, etc.

Amazon has em and they are not too expensive. Its where i bought mine. Worth it. I still do trad dl but I can't squat so I do hex dl and leg press on one day and trad dl on a different day.

what fucking company makes knurling that aggressive

how is she that thin at that height? she must eat no more than 500 calories a day

my knurling is brutal. It presses so deep into my hands it leaves some gnarly marks. I should shave it down or wrap it in something but my hand never slips.

Replace squats with hex bar deadlift.

>replace squats with a deadlift

He isn't wrong though.

He meant bench press i think

>not squatting

Look at all these fat powerlifting boomers discussing their worthless, menial lifts.

I fucking love the hex bar. I'm doing heavy farmers walk at least once a week for a year now. My neck and traps are nearly double as big as they were last year. But I also gained like 10kg of fat and muscle, so I don't know if it works for you dyel lean bulking twinks

I've seen lots about the trap bar but the rom seems so limited. is this really not a problem?
