I have a 7 year old lab who is way overweight. I’m switching him to a low calorie wet dog food. i don’t want him to do too much cardio cause laboradors tend to have bad hips and knees.
Are there any lifting routines for dogs? Are there any gyms that have machines for dogs or that at least allow dogs into the gym?
Some Planet Fitnesses have a “Dawg Town” and “Kitty Korner” annex with animal cardio machines but I haven’t seen any weight machines

It's not hard to feed a dog less food. If it tries to start shit with you just take it outside, 1v1 him/her. You win say about 3-5 in a row, it'll get the message.
Now, when you're fighting a dog you gotta be pretty careful. Strafe your target. Keep your guard up. If you aren't that fast stick to counter hits. When you get the opportunity get on top and put it into a submission position. Soon the dog will learn and the relationship will be better.

Walk him daily, supplement with glucosamine and fish oil and change diet to cater to middle age dog with quality ingredients.

The low calorie food is a good start, labs can be hard to shed weight off due to their food obsession
Try padding out with raw vegetables like carrot, brocolli, cauliflower.
If that fails you can put him on special metabolic food, I think hills or Royal canin make it.
If you are near water source, excercising in water either swim or walking will help burn calories without wearing on the hips.
I'm a vet and I see so many fat old arthritic labs, it's sad, they don't know they need to look aesthetic they only care about food.

Just skip meals once or twice a week. Dogs don't need to eat every day. Fasting will not hurt your pooch.
Take the chunky fucker for a swim. Swimming burns mad cals and is low impact
