If you are a grown man (over the age of 18)

If you are a grown man (over the age of 18)

squatting lmao3plate should be routine

at MINIMUM

Attached: Bq5TODCgxV_.webm (640x640, 2.96M)

But i just turned 18 last month

>15 lbs

How heavy is a pl8? Is it 20 or 25 kilos?

you mean in fit standards or in the webm? pl8s are 20 kg, rounded up to 45 lbs.

Fit standards. I have no idea what he's using, but it looks smaller than a 45 pounder.

''lifting standards'' are usually pretty weak attempts from people who just started lifting to imagine themselves as strong.
someone who has been strength training for a longer time might consider a 500lb squat or more, routine.
i think the standard should be BEING able to properly squat in the first place. i'm always surprised by how many people can't perform a bodyweight squat at all. and not just middle aged dads, young men too.

they say 45 on them

For those that dont know, OP plugged SSJBOBB a fitness isntagrammer and hes pretty cool. Would recommend to give him a follow ;).

Agreed, also lifting standards need to correlate to weight and size as well.
3Pl8 doesnt mean much if you weigh 160kg and can barely get parallel

Damn, he stronk.

What if you squat more than half of 3pl8 is that still not good for 18?

Got a severe-ish spinal injury 3 weeks into starting to lift, not allowed to do any lower back, compounds or legs. Upper body starting to see results but I'm still 6 months away from surgery wtf do I do with my shitty life in meantime

Attached: Whytho.png (412x351, 92K)

I agree. All this talk of "squat this squat that" is just leading the door open for injuries imo.

Was talking to a PT at the gym (I've only been going for about 7 weeks) and he said that at least 90% of the people at that gym should not be ALLOWED to do a barbell squat, simply because their form was so terrible.

They were either only doing 50-70% of the exercise, or were shredding their knees.

Doing a proper bodyweight squat is no easy task. You have to be reasonably in shape to do one.

It's taken me this long to even get close to proper form. I've recently started doing box squats.

>squatting lmao3plate should be routine
Not yet but soon

Attached: SS 4 months progress.png (1348x1714, 792K)

Why the fuck would you need surgery 6 months from now? Either it's an emergency cause there's a nerve impingement or you don't need surgery and need to find a proper physio.

ya I'm more impressed by people's form not so much the weights

Attached: Screen-Shot-2013-12-16-at-7.43.16-PM1.png (289x375, 149K)

The disc is bulging and pressing against my nerves but not yet endangering, and my L4-L5 vertabrare have slipped. So they want to wait to play it safe or something. Also public health system.

I've always had decent legs, so squatting 3pl8 was something I could do within a few weeks.
Couldn't do bodyweight squats though, didn't have the mobility to balance without the barbell.

Swings and roundabouts though, took me a long while to even get 1pl8 bench, and I'm now at 1/2/4/4 1rm

absolute strenght is a meme.
2xBW is a must

Holy shit, why the fuck do they puck their already unnaturally large monkey lips like that?
It looks fucking disgusting.

Fake natty and gimmicks. He either needs to compete in a tested fed or gtfo

>being so weak it takes you 30 seconds to do one rep of 15 lbs
kek

Pro tip: most people who get back surgery regret it for the rest of their life.

I’m 27 and just started lifting and don’t even squat 1pl8 lol
Roast me senpai

>If you are a grown man (over the age of 18)
>over the age of 18
Fucking lol

Is holding the weight like this beneficial or just slightly impressive? Anyone wanna redpill me on barbell pause squats?

Only just got up to 2pl8.
115kg 1RM.

Gonna work on getting to 3pl8 in 2019 but the thought just seems scary to me.
I can 1RM 3pl8 for deadlifts though, but that should be 1 pl8 more according to the internet too.

I've been eating but all that's happened is I'm getting a gut now, even with all the protein & veggies.

Not sure what to change except to just stick at it.

Sick digits

I cant imagine someone whos been lifting for longer than 2 months to not be able to squat 3pl8s. I'm 100% sure it's all just in your heads and you're too scared to push yourself hard.

Cut this shit out

People have different starting points. Do you expect first time lifters do do 25lb jumps each workout or something???

Bob isn’t a normal person, the shit he does is insane. I WANT him to be on gear, I really do.

Attached: Capture.png (505x635, 242K)

I'm being serious you're just being pussies. Everyday I see people at the gym stalling at the same weights and when I look at them what do I see? Guys scared of pushing themselves always doing comfy weights that they can easily do.

Fuck it, I got baited, but you're still a retard.

Most people can't even bodyweight squat. Period.
Almost nobody that doesn't go to the gym can squat an empty barbell. Period.
No normies ever squat seriously, they mostly do because their trainers talked them into it. Period.
People who do squats are those that do it for a specific reason such as actual strength training, and most people go to the gym for bodybuilding reasons. Period.
Almost nobody in a gym squats over 2pl8. Period.
People who squat over 2pl8 have trained for strength and will continue to train. People who squat over 2pl8 are doing it because they specifically want to squat big, and are on their way to squat that big.

I other words practically nobody squats 2pl8. Sometimes I have the feeling that either nobody on this board lifts, or that everyone is living their own pocket fantasy.

>Most people can't even bodyweight squat. Period.
wrong?
Almost nobody that doesn't go to the gym can squat an empty barbell. Period.
wrong?
im not even gonna bother reading rest of your cope. You sound extremely insecure.

my cousin cant squat the bar. he has mobility issues and neglected his leg work for years. just as an example.

What about people with back injuries? I was squatting lmao4plates pre injury. I'm back to 275lbs for reps at least, could probably do more but I'm really enjoying not having sciatica right now.

>Sometimes I have the feeling that either nobody on this board lifts, or that everyone is living their own pocket fantasy.
Looks like picked the "pocket bubble fantasy" side.

did he escape auschwitz?

Attached: do you have a single fact to back that up.jpg (208x240, 20K)

Bro I really doubt you need surgery. I fucked some disc(s) last Halloween, so much so that I got foot drop. I was walking like a zombie, and couldn't lift my toes on my left foot and my sciatica was so bad I couldn't look down and touch my knees without pain. Didn't go to the doctor though which is stupid on my part. Did body weight therapy alot and some ultra light squats to strengthen my core and get pressure off my spine. Just lift to hit the movement with a weight that requires some stability but not even slightly strenuous. Also decompressed my spine with the lat pulldown machine. Would load up about 190 or 200 and just hole the weight, let you're core relax and just breathe. I'm not where I was and my foot is still a little weak with flexion but I'm pain free, unless I sit with bad posture for a long period. I'm back to lifting 275 for reps on squats and doing 2 plates on RDL and I'm still getting better.

However, my uncle got surgery for for a disc he slipped at work, ended up needed a emergency second surgery because he lost feeling in his leg. And he still has sciatica and back pain.

Do what you want but most of your natural healing will be in the first 6 months anyways. Might as well try therapy until then and reassess your need for surgery then.

If you're under 6ft the minimum is 5 plate

what is this user

I mean doing a body weight squat isn't hard at all as I can remember being able to squat my own bodyweight from when I joined the gym. By body weight at the time was 80kg so not much but still easy.

Honestly looks like 15kg plates

actually his observation is pretty spot on and you're just another teenage "cope poster" faggot.

tfw lifting for 5 months and can only squat 235

Attached: 1542574108014.jpg (400x400, 29K)

symmetric strength desu

It took almost two whole months before I could squat without a box to aid me.

After 6 months I can now 1 rep 3 plates, but it was a build up.

I'm incredibly glad I didn't rush it.

Kek

Squatting is for the lesser races like Slavs and Indians. West/North European men should never squat.

I have found this to be true. My old gym closed down and I tried a couple of places on 1 month memberships to find another that I liked. I was almost always the oldest guy in the gym (i'm 58) and if there was someone older they never got off a stationary bike. I hardly ever saw anyone put any weight on in the squat rack. When I would squat, people would stop and stare. It sort of looked like they were afraid I'd hurt myself sometimes. I don't see them deadlifting any weight either. It's weird. These guys spend time doing isolation excercises but hardly ever do any heavy compound lifts. Who teaches them this?

Post your body with timestamp

While he's monkeying around at the gym I was born human.

>some fag who did a 3 month meme course is in a position to make judgements
90% of "PT" are employed solely to shill supplements and spin classes. You get the odd guy who is legit and doing a doctorate in sports science or something but they are few and far between.

>going to an integrated gym
Why? Is it poorness?

>barely breaking parallel
>expecting me to believe those are 45s

Attached: 1543786309932.png (310x453, 108K)

not that user, but the images are from the symmetric strength site, which compare your lifts to some competition standards and formulas, outputting them to a diagarm to show you visually your weaker muscle groups

that user is making good progress on starting strength, it seems

they haven't bee taught at all, that's why. it's a routine born of fear.

If you are going to be a monkey....
be a gorilla

>not allowed to do any lower back, compounds or legs

if you don't train it will get worse

>squatting lmao3plate should be routine
why?
people keep parrotting this but nobody could ever explain why I should be able to put shitloads of weight on my shoulders and then squat down. how is this in any way, shape or form "functional"?

>under 2pl8 squat
user...

Attached: 1486906725103.jpg (500x328, 21K)

>lma3pl8 squat
>grown man
Why are his legs so skinny?

>"squatted eight plates before I did my back!"
sure thing gramps

Attached: boomer1.jpg (633x640, 87K)

No he said more than half, so it could be anywhere from just over half to a single pound under

Shit
That's me

It's easier to hold out at the bottom than half way, genius.

Tell me about yourself, boomer of 4channel

hmm I'm guessing that he means about 80kg

Why are you being rude to me?

The PT I have been using has over 20 years of lifting experience, spent over 25k on his gym knowledge through seminars etc. did a 4 week lifting course with a Russian Olympic bronze medalist powerlifter, and did a seminar the other day with a guy who (I believe) was the first guy to hold the world record in the squat in 4 different weight categories, who can squat 3.6x his bodyweight.

So I think he knows what he's doing.

Just because you've been lifting longer than me doesn't necessarily mean that you know more about the gym than I do. Incorrect form for 4 years or 4 months is still incorrect form.

Then you're seriously retarded or you think that when people say 3pl8 they mean a 1rm.

>t. Can't do that shit.

Dude, you're incredibly weak. Leave this board at once.

Post squat pussy

Attached: Screenshot_20181219-101713.png (1440x2560, 2.18M)

The squat is one of the most basic human movements. Components are used in sitting, standing, walking, running, climbing, etc.

Heavy squatting is more extreme than any of these things, but it moves your posterior chain through its entire range of motion, improving strength and mobility for all of these things.

I have been to maybe 10 different gyms (commercial, not powerlifting), from huge to small and in 10 years I have never seen anyone squat more than 2.5 plates

I feel like 90% of this board can’t and 5% does it with really shitty form

>255 squat
>155 bench

Tell me how I know your squat form is trash

Squatted 3pl8 for the first time today.

>Mfw when this thread is actually for me.

I have some degenerative sickness and I can't build muscles at all. I tried for 10 years.

Don't ever wait six months to "fix" something. It'll just be fucked for life.
I slipped L3; military doctor told me it was a minimum three month wait to send me to see a chiropractor. I went out the next day and paid out of pocket, best decision of my life.
Between the chiropractor and erector spinae exercises, I made a near-complete recovery. I'll still get back pain if I do heavy squats/deadlifts without a belt, but no pain otherwise.
The only person who takes your health seriously is you. Go get your shit fixed.

Just hit 3pl8 for the first time last week.

It's 3pl8 season. Come get yours

We all have that bro.
It’s called aging.

Pausing removes stretch reflex, but you only have to pause for like half a second not half a minute to get benefits.

Attached: giganigga.png (571x575, 99K)

i dont squat at all.
i dont even train legs desu
i have quite thick legs genetically so fuck it

it's called starting strength, dad

my squats 275 and I've dislocated my shoulder 3x so I don't do pressing movement very often, that's just the last 3x5 set of SS I had done.
My squat's form is p decent

he's true. And no, quarter squats (that you probably do too) aren't real squats.
Almost nobody that doesn't go to the gym can squat an empty barbell with full ROM, that's correct

>Almost nobody that doesn't go to the gym can squat an empty barbell with full ROM
If you mean that they don't know how to perform a correct squat, maybe.
If you mean they physically are not strong enough to perform the movement correctly, you are wrong.

Not him, but it's true. Back/ neck/ spine surgery are just as likely to make the problem worse as they are to solve it.

fuck off you fucking coal burnin' nigro cock lover.
get the fuck out of here

Thanks. I was planning on getting stronger, but I guess I'll just quit now.

Did you go to the vodoo witch after the chiropractor?
