If you could convert 1 IQ point into 10 lbs of muscle, how many would you trade?
As a corollary question, how much muscle do you value 1 IQ point at.
For reference, if you're a manual labourer/fast food dude you're probably between 85-95, skilled tradeperson you've probably got an IQ of 90-95, if you're general office staff you're probably at 100, if you're specialist office staff you're probably at 105, and if you're a professional you're probably around 110 or higher. The average IQ is 100 (duh), the lowest IQ at which you can conceivably be of any use to anyone for a productive role is 83, an IQ of 115 is required to be a half-decent lawyer or other professional, and an IQ of 130 means you're smart enough to be the top of almost any field, so long as you put the work in. 160 is genius level.
3 just so I could get into mensa mainly for there game nights wich I hear are fun

What's a non-meme test for measuring IQ that doesn't hand out scores of 130+ left and right?
Aiden Martin
IQ is a meme you retard
Cooper Howard
One administered by an actual psychologist.
But everything that tests intelligence tests IQ in one way or another, so if you're in the 65th percentile for your SAT exams you're probably around there for IQ as well.
Demonstrably wrong.

IQ predicts performance on a range of cognitive tasks.
This would suggest that IQ measures something important that you need to do cognitive tasks.
Bentley Wright
>tfw 99th percentile in SAT without ever studying for it >work minimum wage and study in a shitty university My wasted potential is killing me oh no shit faggot next you'll tell me the sky is blue IQ being a meme does not mean that there are no legit tests to measure it I want to stroke my mental ego a lil
Landon Collins
IQ measures performance on a range of cognitive tasks, however as far as I'm aware there isn't even an agreed upon method to interpreting results, other than noticing an aptitude for the particular generalized task, which can be trained, modified, and lost irrespective of any biological starting point.
Tell me then, is IQ reflective of a central underlying characteristic or are there multiple aspects of intelligence which form a web of ability? Is intelligence accumulated through experience and understanding or is it mainly a biological benchmark? How easy is it to change intelligence? How easy is it to compare intelligence if there ISN'T one underlying factor, and that factor is variable and not determined by biology?
IQ is a meme
Josiah Reed
>Would you trade your brain for muscles? No, that's why I'm lifting faggot,
Aaron Parker
>IQ measures performance on a range of cognitive tasks Incorrect. It predicts performance on a range of cognitive tasks.
What it measures is an open question, but I suspect you've probably got a pretty low IQ if you contend that something which predicts performance on a range of cognitive tasks has nothing to do with intelligence.
Which isn't to say that's impossible. Conscientiousness will improve your performance on almost any task and it has nothing to do with intelligence. But it's nowhere near as strong a predictor.
>is IQ reflective of a central underlying characteristic or are there multiple aspects of intelligence which form a web of ability? Who cares?
But for the record, IQ is usually split into fluid IQ and crystallised IQ.
>Is intelligence accumulated through experience and understanding or is it mainly a biological benchmark? IQ seems to be fairly fixed and hereditary.
>How easy is it to change intelligence? It's almost impossible to move IQ up, but I can move someone's down pretty quickly if you give me a hammer and access to their head.
The simplest explanation for why IQ predicts performance on cognitive tasks is because it measures something necessary to perform well at cognitive tasks.

My goal was always to be like Batman. Studied physics and work now as a software engineer while benching heavy weights. > we all gonna make it brehs

Weschler's done one on one with a psychologist.
No IQ test that has a scale which goes over 140 is worth a damn .

Lol nerd kys
Wyatt Anderson
Well, my IQ has been measured at 130+ so I guess that's accurate.
Michael Wright
>my wasted potential is killing me Then do something about it, or else you'll forever be unhappy
Aaron Jenkins
You can build muscle in time, but you can't raise your iq so in the long run it wouldn't be worth to make this trade. I'd still probably trade 1-2 iq points for 10-20lbs of muscle though, since a couple of iq points doesn't matter that much at all. It's not like my brain is useful at all with my shitty work ethic.
Christian Barnes
HAHAHAH is there a bigger cope?
Ethan Myers
50 points to get me to 100 and be a blissful idiot while being jacked as all hell
Dylan Davis
You can train so that you get a higher score on the IQ test

Whats your explanation for IQ being a strong indicator for success in life?
Isaac Allen
10 pounds of muscle is a lot. I'll take 2
Robert Reyes
I'm high IQ and mentally ill I'd trade the IQ points if it cured my bi polar and classic schizophrenia
Camden Scott
this.
The real test is if you fall for the meme. Anyone who's taken an IQ test is a certified moron
Xavier Gutierrez
i know what you mean, i once did a test online just outta boredom
so after a 16 hour shift and a few post shift beers and a joint, about 3am, i still scored a 138 and that was while skipping all the numeracy questions lol
Aaron Kelly
Yeah. 2-3 IQ won't make me measurably less able, whereas 20-30 lbs of muscle instantly will be easy to maintain. Time saved working out can be invested into my career.
Brayden Myers
I'd trade 20 points or so and be the biggest strongest retard that ever lived.
Lincoln Phillips
i read somewhere that university graduates have an avg IQ of 120, i'll trade 5 points for 50 lb no backsies
Parker Lee
This is dumb because muscle mass actually improves brain function. Muscular men have higher IQs and smart people are stronger.
Jayden Green
Well yeah. But people who do well on that test are losers who need something to make up for being genetic deadends.
Ian Rivera
vsauce disagrees with you. MICHAEL HERE

Actually I'd give a part of my brain for a couple more inches (both height and dick) and wider shoulders. I'm already smart as it is
Anthony White
This would never be worth it. Intelligence us by far Human's most important stat, and the most conductive to high quality of life. You can always put on more muscle, but you can never get more intelligent. Sure you can attain knowledge, but that doesn't affect your base Int. Dumb meatheads might have a better time in highschool, but for the rest of your life you'd want to be as intelligent as possible
Christopher Thompson
okay we're only taking the frontal lobe
Charles Watson
>I'd give up peice of my brain for dick size >Im smart
Pick one.
Ryan Sanders
I’m around 120-130. I would give 20 points for muscle. I work at a job that doesn’t require a lot of brain power and I absolutely love the job, plus I make great money.

Who the hell would trade IQ for gains? You can gain muscle pretty easily by eating big and lifting heavy, but there's literally no proven way to increase your IQ.
