Basmati is pretty good. Smells like buttered popcorn when cooked.

When I tell people I eat Basmati they tell me I should get Jasmine instead. But at the ethnic market when I asked where the Jasmine rice is they pointed me to Basmati and said it's the same. So idk anymore.

Anyway, long grain varieties from Asia are top tier. Don't settle for virgin USA short grain.

Nah you wanna buy easy cook long grain. Purely for ease of cooking, storing, and reheating.

Dude Basmati is the fucking shit.
Tips for basmati, wash it first. Like just pour water over it a few times and keep dumping the water out. It will be super cloudy from all the starch.
It makes it so much better, and if you want to make it super good, just put some melted butter off in that bitch and some cracked black pepper.
Good. as fuck. and pairs super good with lean ground beef

yes

I think bassmati rice is overtated. Jasmine is my favorite. They are definitely different. I love rice, though, so I'll eat either.

You can actually cook basmati to where it comes out like a little fluffy cake with a delicious crispy exterior.
My bestfriends mom (she's Iranian) would cook this for us when we were kids. I've tried to replicate it and its nearly impossible to do for a mere mortal, but...
I can attest to the fact that properly cooked Basmati is off the charts delicious. Every piece of rice should be individual, none of it sticks together. Its fucking good but hard to master.

Blacked rice. Must be something new those (((people))) trying to push on us.

Very astute point about proper rice cooking being hard to master. Random historical fact, back in the Ottoman times when they were recruiting cooks for the royal kitchens, they would ask the candidates to cook rice to check their skill.

jasmin rice has more volume than basmati in my experience

t. was cutting and using 70g rice and the jasmin always gave me more volume

How are you doing your beef

>put rice in rice cooker
>leave to burn on the bottom
What is so hard about this?

Japanese short grain is top notch. Especially with onions sauce and raw egg

Not him but I but frozen 1lb logs and make them in my instant pot

>Not buying based Jasmine
Never gonna make it

Yeah but what? How to cook beef please

Take frozen 1lb ground beef
Add cup of water to instant pot
Put the beef on a trivet in the pot
Pressure cook on high for 35 minutes

There, 1lb of cooked ground beef

Season it how you want afterwards in the pot using the saute setting

After 35 minutes I just cook it with seasoning and onions and stuff

Jasmine rice is best

I fucking hate basmati. Brown rice medley every time.
