is it socially aceptable to talk about anime with normies?
Is it socially aceptable to talk about anime with normies?
I wish I had this problem, every anime fan I know is a female.
I don't even like my hero academia.
But that's like saying stop talking about game of thrones or sports.
why would you talk to normies in the first place?
OH user I don't like what you do.
But let us talk about shit you hate but i enjoy.
> Logic
If you're in a white collar/college environment and not around boomers, yes.
Goblin Slayer it is, then.
No it's definitely not.
Why's that?
I hate both of them but talking about my hero academia would be more fun than talking about a football game....
No, you're only allowed to talk about sports and politics
Yes but only the most entry level pleb tier shit.
t. Had normie coworkers that would talk about anime and how much of weebs they were but had only seen maybe 5 series of pleb shit
no, unless she's under 18
Yeah. Honestly, amongst the under-30 crowd, anime is pretty commonplace these days. Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon paved the way in their childhoods. It has somewhat of a stigma amongst certain crowds, but it's not anywhere near what it once was.
Having said that, it's only the "entry level" stuff (of which My Hero Academia is included) that is fair game. The shit that ends up dubbed and that you see on t-shirts and posters at your local Wal-Mart isn't exactly obscure. Trying to make it a verboten topic is just stupid.
This is a fake article I searched it and the actual thing was about rick and morty. Go get better bait.
>talking to normans
>going on dates
Get out normies REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
As a professional anime fan I wouldn't talk to a layperson about anime, they lack the basic knowledge to make such a discussion worthwhile.
I mean if I mentioned Shinichiro Watanabe or Hiroyuki Imaishi in casual conversation I'd be met with blank stares.
can women ever say something face to face instead of coming up with convoluted ways of saying it with undocumented levels of passive agressiveness
What's an anime that you consider not "pleb shit"?
>talking about anime on a first date
Even if I knew a girl watched anime, I would probably not do this.
BNHA isn't nearly as popular with normies as GoT or whatever sports. Most normies are repulsed by all anime, period, even if BNHA is mainstream.
If that's out, too, then I guess we're down to Big Tits Marching Band. Pretty solid, as third options go.
>What's an anime that you consider not "pleb shit"?
cute girls doign cute things and showing their panties
>Men
>Watching BnHA
Pick only one.
>funko
>kill la kill and cowboy bebop
>star wars
Are you joking user. You are embarrassing yourself.
Uchinonaka no kori
Thanks for the advice. Next time I'll talk about Oni Chichi.
A few extra tips from my experience with normies and anime:
>Avoid talking about tokyo ghoul unless you're in highschool/early college. You will immediately get tagged as an edgelord.
>Don't mention reading manga, LNs or VNs, or playing j-games unless the other person mentions any of these
>Treat hentai as a complete joke
>Gundam isn't as nearly as popular as you think
>Generally act like you are only into entry level shit until you're reasonably certain the other person is a weeb
>Even if the other person is a weeb, avoid mentioning any clearly ecchi shows
>hurr professional anime fan durr
>this picture
Men are so fucking stupid.
>most normies are repulsed by anime
yeah, but would would you want to associate with normans anyways?
>vice
>this is considered "news"
>ridicule men for being passionate about something
OrANgE mAn bAD
Manimefags BTFO. Cute girls like cute girls doing cute things.
Why does everyone suck Imaishi's dick when Yoh Yoshinari is a much better animator than him. And I like Watanabe but two of his best series while not bad on their own are rip offs of a much better series.

Normies only care about sports, game of thrones, and shit yt videos
>he doesn't know about networking
Easier to git shit
Go make a sandwich baka
It's funny how women are told to accept themselves as they are and feel beautiful, whether they are morbidly obese, radical fem, absolutely bitter and conceited personality.
Men are shamed for having non mainstream hobbies or interests like video games, computer programming, anime etc. The hypocrisy becomes clear when women jump aboard the bandwagon. They are not persecuted for liking anime, TV, cosplaying. Tons of people give them money to watch them play video games.
I love it when men pretend they know a lot about anime because they remember few mainstream directors and watched Legends of Galactic Heroes.
If you had the time and patience to watch that show, you're definitely no longer a normie. My normie friends can barely name Dragon Ball...
Apart from the visuals, it's literally just a hbo show.
Who's your favourite director? Mine's definitely Yoshiaki Kawajiri. Mainstream or not his style is the coolest shit around and Birdy, Wicked City, Bloodlust and Ninja Scroll are some of my favourite movies/OVAs.
>reading vice
If you are hot enough you can talk of Ted Bundies necrophilia and still get laid. Not even trolling.
Yeah, I don't normally like edgy gore anime, but the guy was a genius. My personal favourite is Ikuhara, his style and theatrical inspirations are still so amazing to me, his works never age. He even made some of the best Sailor Moon episodes, and of course, the best shoujo of all time, Utena. I love him, I hope his upcoming work will be a success. I also have a soft spot for Takahata, have you seen his work on World Masterpiece Theater? Akage no Anne is probably the most comfy anime of all time, it is a shame he is known for his not so great movies.
This might be up for debate, but isn't Rose of Versailles the best Shoujo anime ever? I know people also mention Aim for the Ace as a really good Shoujo series but I haven't seen it, I prbably wouldn't have heard of it if Gainax didn't bum it so much.
Takahata is pretty old school but he's been involved in some amazing shit. He's not as old/senior but my favourite director from that sort of time is probably Leiji Matsumoto (who I will admit I first heard of because of Interstella 5555 but then worshipped after watching Space Pirate Captain Harlock and Galaxy Expres 999).
Nah, Utena is the best piece of art I have ever seen, nothing compares to it. It is just that good. Lady Oscar is pretty nice, but it is so silly and awkward at times, also the tonal shifts are pretty sudden... it's just not as good, unfortunately. Aim for the Ace is great, I have watched it raw and read the manga, but again, nothing spectacular. Attacker You is way more fun if you are into girly sports anime.
Matsumoto! Ah, I like him as well! His space opera is just so good, but he doesn't impress me anymore lol. When you watch a lot of his stuff, everything becomes so repetitive... How do you feel about it, user? Are you still able to enjoy all of his works? Do you like any modern directors?
How ironic considering that Vice tells you how to run your life all the time
I'm not that into shoujo sports series. I'm actually into shoujo subgenres of any kind really, I've only seen the classics. Someone conned me into reading Angel Sanctuary when I was a lot younger, and it wasn't terrible but it wasn'tgood by any means. My favourite shoujo manga of all time is definitely Hot Road, I was amazed at how good that was.
I really like Leijiverse stuff but I kind of watched it in the wrong order, I watched Harlock first and loved it, then GE999 and really liked it and then when I got around to Yamato I was a little bored of it. I still think he's quality overall though. The Harlock manga is also stylish as fuck.
As far as moden directors go, if he can be called modern (since he's been around for ages but didn't starting directing until like 2000 and something), Takeshi Koike is probably my favourite. Although I would say that since he's Kawajiri's understudy and has a really similar style. Redline blew me away when I watched it, same with Dead Leaves. The two Lupin movies he directed were also great. I don't really watch that much anime these days, I find the lack of budget and animation quality to be a bit of a turn off. And I really like this generation's generic anime artsyle compared to say the 90s (which I prefered over the 70s and 80s). For example I'm watching SSSS.Gridman because I watched the US Toku version as a kid and I like it but all of the main characters in the show look so dreadfully boring. Compared to Karakuri Circus from the 90s which I'm also watching where everyone looks unique.
I tend to only read manga now desu.
pls respond, i've already fallen in love
Is this anime that popular that enough adult men are talking about it on dates and shit?
I'm a half-normie who doesn't really watch anime but almost all of my normie friends love this anime, I didn't realize that this was a thing but it all makes sense now.
Time to talk about Bible Black I guess
No. Otherwise they would be men.
Ive yet to meet a single person outside of my long distance friend group talk about this show. Heres a more realistic one
>TINDER BITCCES, STAP TALKING ABOUT THE OFFICE REEEEEEE
>new girl at work
>gets told I watch anime
>does not stop fucking talking to me about MHA
jesus
>bee yourself, stay relaxed and confident to get people to like you!
>"eew what are you doing, talking about not-leftist media approved topic with a potential mate?"
>funko pops
>professional anime fan
Opinion discarded
I think its more like guys just being annoying and talking about this thing their into without taking the girl into account
Like imagine you take a girl out and she can't stop talking about Pretty Little Liars or Orange is the new black despite you never having seen them
>without taking the girl into account
Right, I'll start the next date with talking about the most famous serial killers.
The last two girls I really got along with were both pretty hard into that.
Into hero academia too, but eh.
vice.com
I was excited for a bit cuz I thought "if a woman for Vice is writing about hearing an anime all the time, maybe now it is okay to talk about anime!" No, never mention anime unless you are talking about the most normalshit animes of all time with older teens who brought up anime (like Dragonball Z or Sailor Moon). NEVER talk about anime to normies, hide your power level. If you are in a group and someone mentions anime, you can throw out a Dragonball Z or a Naruto. NEVER EVER MENTION NON-NORMIE ANIME!!! Nobody wants to hear about which Dagashi you want to Kashi or whether dark Illya or light Illya is better. Or how you think you are a patrician because you like Goblin Slayer and it has graphic rape scenes. As if you haven't actually read dozens of doujins with the rape and orc tag already
my gf and I both like one punch man
BNHA is the AoT of 2017-2018
