I play with metal
Started working on a new track today. Spent most of the last three days asleep. Feel like there's something wrong with me. Also working on some other music stuff. Different than the stuff I've been doing, something more along the lines of post-punk or gothic rock
My friend makes armor and stuff out of metal, it's really cool.
I like your stuff, especially the drums in your songs.
H-How do you get so many listens on your songs? I have 23 followers but barely only ever get 5 listens.
I like the way the song "swells" for lack of a better term. However I think it should have gone somewhere. At the end of it I felt a bit like I just listened to a very long intro
the 6 million
the 6 million
the 6 million
OP here, I think you need to work on a solid song instead of just little bits and pieces. And nobodies going to listen to your music if it's titled weird sad shit.
Thank you, and yeah I agree. I was planning on making it a little bit longer but I had to go to work.
That's something I need to work on with my music, a lot of my songs just kind of fade out or are the same 3 notes over and over. Any advice?
>H-How do you get so many listens on your songs?
I just post my stuff in here. Been doing this for quite time. Don't know what keeps people interested
Not exactly concerned with marketability or anything. Atleast not at the moment. But I know what you mean
I like it, its pretty chill
Try new things I suppose? Listen to what you've got and think about where you wanna go with it. Or just fuck around on your instruments and see if it fits somehow. Sometimes you'll take the song in a completely different direction than you originally planned
I WANT TO PRODUCE GOOD MUSIC BUT I'M STILL TRYING TO LEARN ABOUT SYNTHESIZERS I'M SO FRUSTRATED I CAN PERFECTLY ENVISION AND WRITE MUSIC BUT I CAN'T EVEN MAKE MASSIVE GIVE ME THE SOUNDS I WANT AAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
I know what you mean user. The initial learning is pretty frustrating when you just wanna get to making things. What do you envision?

YEs it's horrible!! agggggggggggggggggggggghhh!!!! i want to make sweet melodic poppy electro jazz with thoughtful percussion, like tennyson. it's a really big learning curve. i need a lot more patience just to find the exact samples i'd want to use, nonetheless how to carve a waveform and give it the appropriate depth/presence it needs to blend in. luckily the korg m1 exists though, and that is a godsend for the type of leads i want to do.
what about you???
Dropping my latest edit here:

I've got 2 other vids on the side, I'll probably publish them around November or so.
Get a DAW
Make some tunes now and then, mostly crummy demos. ;)
i'm working in ableton live but i'm so fucking lazy it's unacceptable, i spent my whole life playing instruments but only producing chiptunes in trackers, and i fear i may never be as autistic as when i was using a tracker
At the moment I'm just doing whatever I feel like doing at the moment. Not really concerned with marketability or what have you. I'm
I like it. Definitely has some potential. The track you linked definitely needs some more work though. Not really much of anything right now
those are some pretty tight tunes! I can definitely see you flourishing especially in the synthwave arena. i love the vibes i'm getting from your tracks :3
Well thanks, I like me some synthwave and whatever all the subgenres are called but my real passion lies elsewhere. Atleast I think so
hmm what kind of music would you ideally be making? like give me an artist name
Thanks, I mostly just use this account as a sketchboard for ideas. Really want to learn Abelton to focus on automation and triggers. Really into Brian Eno, Harold Budd and early Aphex Twin.
More in the direction of post-punk or gothic rock/darkwave. Pretty much nothing like the stuff I'm making at the moment
For example

Gearslutz and /prod/ (sometimes) are your friend. Keep learning and be willing to fuck up a lot.
Yeah I figured Brian Eno and Aphex Twin must be part of your influence. Good choice

>goth R&B / dark trap
I'm not used to singing, still getting the hang of doing it and mixing it well. I appreciate all feedback. Short song, just 2 minutes.
Dubs of sound advice.
>tfw no art user to share studies with and critiq each others work
man there needs to be more paintfags in these threads
also no I'm not interested in having discord discussions
I don't like intereacting with robots vocally
>also no I'm not interested in having discord discussions
Then what's the point of interacting with you? If I wanted to discuss art works with somebody on Jow Forums, then I would just visit /ic/
t. paintfag
Text discussion is also implemented on discord, I never bothered using a mic since day 1.
I have almost no music background but have been fucking around in fruity loops.
Everything I makes sound like trash because I have no ear for music though.
Where are your paintings by the way?
Post it, maybe some advice can be given. And your ear will develop with practice
heyo put up a couple more covers tonight

just usual
hello frens I finished this yesterday it's a folkish traditional piece kinda short, soundcloud.com
Good stuff, but do you have some original stuff in the works too?
i do want to make some original music but i don't feel too inspired these days
Yeah I feel ya. Hope you get around to it soon
i made this
its an originoli work of course
ghostytowno
Pls let me use ur voice in one of ur songs ;-;
As in, let me pay you to record stuff for me once your mic is fixed
OP here
depends on what you're wanting, my laptop is still fried and i just upload directly from my phone
i can't take payment though
What do y'all think of my painting, it's been awhile since I've done watercolors but trying to get back into them
I like it a lot
got any more?
I would feel bad if I didn't compensate you at all!
Also thx for your comment
Oh yeah, me too. I also try to restore or make kni- Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
That was probably my best one right now, here's another one I recently did,it was more just me practicing how to paint clouds
Fuck I posted upside down lol
Thoughts on my drawing?
Been drawing horses lately.
That looks really good, keep it up m8
Best art work of the thread. Got any more drawings you mind sharing?
I love clouds, a lot of my song covers have clouds in them
I drew a really quick and dirty hentai sketch, pic related. I used an actual person as an art reference this time so i can improve my anatomy, but I rushed the whole thing so far.
Can you guess who it is?
Ok, here are the two songs uploaded to my YT channel as well:

>tfw getting over the idea that my writing style needs to be correct
>tfw since Im directing it I can just do whatever
>tfw just writing whatever the fuck I want now and loving it
Im so glad that my edgelord crime horror script is no longer constrained by the conventions of traditional writing, and I can write my self-indulgent split-screen sequences with total confidence.
Heres the first page, Im on track to get it done tonight and ill show you all the first draft once its finished
Good for you man, casting off the shackles of conventions is pretty liberating
Theres a great bit in the Daft Punk song Giorgio By Moroder where Moroder says some really awesome shit about
>Once you forget the concept of Harmony and of Music being correct, you can do whatever you want
And honestly Im super feeling that energy right now.

ITS DONE
Id appreciate some feedback, its a little rusty right now and the descriptive segments without dialogue are a little wall-of-text right now but Im happy at how its turned out so far. The real trick is gonna be actually shooting it.
Its a little flat but well-done nonetheless
Very nice. Im reminded of a scene from Old Man And The Gun, the new Robert Redford film.
Upside down-ness aside this is a very comfy image.

New synth jawn
yeah except ic is slow af and I'd prefer a comfier atmosphere
i still refuse to touch discord with a 10 foot pole
I enjoy the area of separation that Jow Forums provides
I would post some of my studies but I'm on mobile right now
Looks decent if you ask me. I had this movie idea some time ago I need to develop one of these days. Not that it'll ever get made but why not develop it anyway
The opening sounded like something youd hear in a really dramatic part of an 8-bit game, you see sprites crying and shit. The rest of it is pretty nice chill study-beats type shit but that opening is super evocative and I really dug it.
Thanks! And its fun to develop ideas, this was borne out of a desire to make something using only what I had available (this weird machete/bat hybrid that I call the bat-chete and a mask) that could be shot mostly in one night if I planned well enough. I took those, decided on a central argument, kinda let it bloom from there.
Well, I'll be looking forward to seeing it. If you decide to post it in here that is
Oh man, of course. With my previous short I kept saying I was gonna send it to festivals if it was good but it never got finished due to some bullshit so Im keeping expectations low.
Heres the last thing I made though.
youtu.be
That stock gun shot at the end sounded pretty crusty, otherwise it's about what you'd expect from an amateur short. Not to say that it's bad though
New track is done

Over all I liked it, I was enjoying imagining it in my head. The split screen part is a cool idea but you would have to pull it off in such a way that the audience knows what to focus on so they don't miss anything. The characters dialogue seems a little too similar, the way they both speak sounds like they could be brothers. Or were they all triplets? But yeah in general I like it, cool idea, good set up and good pay off!
Proud Soul was very moody and cool, and I liked Balmung's Curse, it has a very IDM vibe.
Thanks for the tip on the dialogue, its never really been my strong suit, Im still working on making distinct characters sound natural. As for the split-screen, I figure I could convey important bits through strong cuts when I need the audience to look at a certain thing on a certain side.
Much appreciated!
sounds pretty good user. electronic isnt my cup of tea but it was enjoyable
Really? No electronic music at all? I was of the same opinion as a teen until I found some of the more interesting electronic music like aphex twin or boards of canada. Might wanna check those out if you haven't
i like trip hop but im not sure if that really counts as electronic. boards of canada is pretty cool. dont like aphex twin though
The line is pretty hard to draw I'd say. One could argue that trip hop is electronic music since most of it is probably done with samples, drum machines and synths.
Look up youtube tutorials until you gain a better ear to put your own unique spin on it. Tutorials are great though, its how almost all modern beat makers get their start
would anyone else be willing to check this out and give some feedback? /mu/ threads have been ignoring me completely
I "made" these shit a while back i m quite proud of it even tho it s shit but anyway not like i ll ever be a real musician lmao
I'd say it's alright. Not much of a fan of the genre though. Vocals are okay for an amateur as well. You're on the right path I'd say
I wanted to post a shitty short story I wrote but it's in Spanish
It's good to be proud of your own work. As long as it doesn't stop you from improving of course. And who cares if any of us will ever be a "real" musician or other artist?
Right on, I appreciate your time and words a ton! I'm gonna continue experimenting with being more melodic and hopefully improve.
I'd also encourage you to try different genres from time to time. You can always learn something from other genres and maybe bring that into your music to stand out a bit
Unfortunately there's only so much I can do as a single person, but I'm always looking for other musicians to collaborate with. I play guitar somewhat proficiently and have a DJ side project where I do lots of experimenting with turntables and samplers, but I can never find anyone else to work with and broaden my horizons. Thanks for the sentiment though, I take it to heart.
Yeah I know what you mean. Collaborating with other people is always pretty damn hard. Finding other musicians at all is pretty hard to begin with and usually your "creative visions" don't line up at all
exactly. I've tried everything from craigslist local posting to asking /mu/tants to asking randoms on soundcloud and tumblr. even when some people say they're down they end up getting cold feet. yet my friends have been able to join bands easily, I feel like it must have to do with my robot personality
I'd say a lot of it comes down to people not being willing to compromise. They wanna do their thing and nothing else. What do you wanna do with others anyways?
I'd be open to a lot, I have an extremely wide taste. Anything from rock music with a drummer to more artsy soundscape stuff to contributing harsh vocals for a metal project. Growing up I never necessarily wanted to be a rapper, it was basically a compromise since I'm not proficient enough to program or play live drums to put together my own rock or metal project, nor am I confident enough in my raw singing vocals without layers of effects/autotune
i'm mostly known for my analogue photots
which i use to post every now and then
Well i'm too tired to share much more. Enjoy the threads anons
I'm So as that post says the thing I'd really wanna do would be post-punk/gothic rock/dark wave kinda stuff. Don't know if I'm ready to start on that quite yet though
Here's an album of electronic/trip-hop music I made last year. Kind of in a block right now, but hey, I try to not be too depressed about it.

>mfw I don't live in the nice parts of germany
>mfw I live in the really bad parts
I'm going to post my drawingsh ere hopefully you guys like them
I made this picture after being humiliated on Jow Forums
When I was young I used to try and sketch the cartoon version of blue eyes. I can still do it semi decently with pen and paper but in paint its uhhh
