That’s not a nurse. That’s a CNA, which only requires one class at a community college. There are also medical assistants, which are a bit more trained, but only do basic tasks like take blood pressure, etc.

Registered nurses (what people usually mean when they say “nurse”) monitor the patients and carry out the treatment plan. It’s a team effort, and doctors have completely different responsibilities.

There’s also a lot of variety in the field, such as traveling nurses, etc. They can also try to move up to hospital administration after a few years. Healthcare’s pretty much find a position you enjoy and do it. Not everyone wants the responsibilities of a doctor anyways.

Your job is also to explain the state of patient to the doctor for better understanding. Doctors don't do shit with you, there is a head nurse that plans your activities.

Psychiatrists are especially sensitive about their status. Surgeons also have the most Republicans by a wide margin.

I spent some time in the lab during my residency. Pathologist jobs seem comfy. You have the whole lab working for you at your disposal. Its quiet and isolated, usually in the basement. People bring you slides and you look at them. Its one of the lower paying specialities but you probably get to bang cute nerdy med techs.

The only downside seems to be the salary, and lack of patient contact, if you give a shit. The lab rats talk about the pathologist like he's a god, presumably because lab workers are fairly beta and weak minded

They're not. Although many units have staff psychologists. My point is that being a psych nurse is more profitable than being a PhD psychologist who is called "Dr." Same with being a therapist of any stripe. Really the only way to make more money in the field AT ALL is to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner or a psychiatrist.
