Your body isn't /that/ different in your 30s from your 20s. Testosterone doesn't significantly decline until your 40s and even then you'll only lose about a third of it from your 40s to your 70s.

What's most likely is that a fitness oriented lifestyle is more likely to provide the testicles with the required resources to produce testosterone to their full potential as well as providing the body with the required materials to build muscle.
The decline of testosterone from middle adulthood to late adulthood is well documented and a natural part of aging as a man. At that point, it's probably a good idea to get onto hormone replacement therapy. Otherwise, you'll still have plenty of testosterone to stay a functioning man, but you'll lose some significant portion of your muscle mass along with other side effects that come with lower testosterone, like a lowered sex drive and ED.
