If you figure out the self-love thing you'll have a better approach to lifting and you will chase benchmarks in strength (or other achievements), which makes it fun.
Otherwise it'll at least in some small part be an exercise in vanity, which will feel less good. Some people need to get the achievements before they can feel confident though, like their personal life doesn't do enough for them to appreciate themselves. No problem either way but being a confident person first and then lifting is generally a more comfortable process.
The important thing is you lift for yourself and make it fun and enjoyable.
