Deadlifts dont move anything through a full ROM, so its slightly inferior for mass building, but one hell of a strength builder. It also works most of the body, so its a great addition to any routine.

The deadlift isn't the full picture when it comes to size. It's to increase your top-end strength, and neurologically teach your body to handle big-ass weights. Some people can rep out deadlifts and make gains, admittedly I was never one of those guys.
Instead, having a higher deadlift means that, in all likelihood, you have a higher RDL, ham curl, glute raise, row, and so on.
Now RDLs can build crazy mass in your hams and glutes (even your back, especially if you do the "sweeping" variation with a band or use a snatch grip).

i mean the guy has a deadlift max that's really good for his weight and still looks shockingly skinny, if i noticed an epidemic of people curling serious weight while having no arm development i might draw the conclusion that curls are not effective
this only seems to happen with deadlifts, very very rarely do you see someone benching 315 without looking pretty muscular or squatting 405 without decent legs
Seriously though, I do full body 3x/week with deadlifts every other time. Have seen good gains and mires. What routine should I follow for pure size and mires if I stop deadlifting?
I think Alex mainly looks skinny due ape arms and bad response to training them. He does a lot of bodybuilding training and tries to stay lean.
