redpill me on ohp? been working out for 4 months and I've been told i should not do this workout cuz it's dangerous for my back and stuff
opinion?
and is it actually the best shoulders workout?

It's literally should be the top exercise, but unfortunately it was dethroned by the bench press.
It's actually the best. Don't get so heavy that your back bends backwards though.
the hang clean and press for sets of 6-8 is the biggest shoulder builder you can do. it is my all time favorite exercise. it will build your delts traps, triceps and abs. its fucking awesome
i don't get heavy but do high reps instead or what should i do user?
Train it heavy, use a belt at 135lbs+.
Flex your quads, glutes and abs as you do it, put your chest out and try not to lean back and turn it into an incline bench
to do this right without hurting your lower back you need to flex your glutes as hard as you can, push your dick forward and flex your abs . this will keep your lower back from bending.
the heavy ohp is all the abwork you will ever need. lower back too. all your stabilizers get love. this exercise is godlike
guys i have a shoulders day course which has like 6 workouts
should i just add ohp there without removing any? if no which exercises ohp can take their place?

ohp is a compound exercise. do it first.
there is no fkn reason to do 6 exercises on shoulder day. the deltoids are small muscles.
i would recommend 5 x 6 of HANG CLEAN AND PRESS, not just the OHP, then 5 more sets of light lateral raises and 3 more of light rear delt raises.
thats all you need. maybe swap it for arnold press or standing dumbbell press once every 3 weeks for variety, but this bad boy is all you need.
do the HANG CLEAN AND PRESS, not just the overhead press. the cleaning from the waist is sort of an upright row and will also work your traps.

Don't forget a proper warm up. OHP is going to be a lot easier when the body is ready.
If you have any real pain while pressing, lower weight and perfect the full range of motion.

whats the best way to progress on ohp?
1p8 seems almost an impossible goal to me as i keep getting stuck on babyweight
Consume enough calories and mix up the sets and reps, and consider adding more shoulder volume

thanks, im pretty skinny so that might be why i cant progress properly. also if i basically just wanna have big shoulders and see strength as secondary is heavy ohp still the answer or should i just hop on high rep db ohp?
im not sure if i buy into the strength=size
lift heavier. do sets of 3-5 and eat a bunch
You can't expect to have big, weak shoulders. High volume is great for size, but you need strength to maximize your potential
anons if I want to change my shoulder workouts routine to this:
ohp /lateral raises/cabal raises/front raises and rear delt raises

Did you start with the basics?
Don't expect to make good gains on a bro split. You should be OHPing 2-3 times per week if you have finished following SS GSLP SL or the Alphadestiny one

If you want to stick to your current split, then you could do:
3x5 OHP
3-4x15-20 Lateral raises
3-4x15-20 cable lateral raises
3-4x15-20 rear delt raises
3-4x15-20 face pulls
I would do OhP first, then an execise to isolate the front and lateral heads, and 2 exercises to isolate the rear delt because I bet you have weak bitch rear delts.
Once a week maybe. Cause15 sets o shoulders twice a week are way way way too much
heavy ohp and the rest are light weight if I get this right.
and yeah my rear delts are weak compared to side /front

my original split is normally 3-4×10/10/8/8 some workouts 12/10/10/8
Then I would prefer one heavier day lower volume and one light high volume
