You can also do this if you feel lightheaded, weak, dizzy, nauseous, etc., on shorter water fasts. Don’t do this while intermittent fasting.

I've been "fasting" by drinking a big cup of buttered coffee every morning and nothing else but water the whole day. It has been 10 days and I feel the same I did on day 1, great. My weight is going down at a good pace and I feel no ill effects.

Can anyone think of the downsides for doing this for like a month or two for weight loss?

I feel way better than when I'm water fasting and the weight is going down about as quickly. I can also study way better than when I'm eating so I want to keep this up. I do sometimes drink an electrolyte drink I made but so far there hasn't been a moment I "had to" drink it because of any symptoms.

I even got my friend to fast when he wanted to lose 10 pounds of fat he put on in the military. He was complaining a lot about how to do it and and hard it would be to lose the weight so I just showed him some videos and told him I've done it loads and even had before/after pics. I told him to do a fast with me to see what happens and we did 2 day fasts in a row for 3 weeks (literally just my normal eating schedule :D) and ate out together for every meal and I coached him how to eat when you fast. he lost 15 pounds and looks fucking ripped, probably 10 or so of that was fat so weight-loss complete.

Educate them so that they understand what ís happening, if that doesn't work get new parents since the old ones suck.

I feel so great that I hardly care, my mental clarity is almost 10 days of fasting levels. Keto already gives a lot of the same benefits when compared to a normie diet, just without all the autophagy and this really isn't that close to regular keto since it's just one meal and a liquid one at that My one meal is pretty much done and digested in an hour or so and coffee makes that even faster.

My schedule is basically 23:1 and the largest jump in autophagy is around the 24h mark so I do get quite a lot the largest benefit of fasting.

I had to stop drinking when I went keto+fasting. I get suicidally depressed every single time and it doesn't feel like it's worth it. My clear skin from fasting+keto gets fucked with pimples, I have low energy for about 3 days and I'm physically like a disabled 90-year old. I have tried electrolyte drinks and everything in between but alcohol just fucks me in the ass every single time.

Anyone here have male pattern baldness to some degree and also doing frequent long term fasts? If so, have you noticed any improvement? Theoretically it should help by dramatically cutting inflammation. Of course I know that the stress of fasting can lead to diffuse thinning, but that's not the same as mpb style hair loss.

How long was your fast?
If it was 7 days or more, you should have a regeneration phase, so you don't hurt your tummy. Drink some organic vegetable juice, or baby food. Small portions. Increase it over the next few days. Wait with introducing animal protein a few days.

Its day 7. My feeding window though is in 10 hours. Im just going to eat a bunch today to feel better. I drank a sparkling ice because it has no carbs/calories and I figured the insulin stimulation might help some, which it did. But I don't feel good enough to not hate my life at work.

Try the veggie juices first, and see how you'll feel. Your stomach is shrunk down now, and your bowel movement has stopped. You might hurt yourself if you just go for a normal meal after 7 days of fast. Take it easy. After you drink half a litre of veggie juice, you'll certainly feel better. Then in a few hours chomp down that baby food. Don't overexert your insides.

The literature suggest long fast increase stress which increase balding. Capsfag will say fasting is not the only thing that creates stress which is another way of saying you are going to bald if you fast for a long time. That being said after a few short fast I felt like my hair thickened. But you'll have to ask me in 3 months. Only way to tell is by seeing long term. Because you aren't eating sugar, inflammation should decrease which helps with balding. Also your blood should be thinner which helps with blood flow. Theres probably a sweet spot for fasting and hair growth before cortisol kicks in but theres no research.

This is my second 7 day fast. I'll be alright. First time I just ate a big meal and feel fine. But Im going to eat 2 or 3 smaller meals today.

It isn't if you reading comprehension isn't on the level of a 1st grader.

Weight-loss in general makes you lose hair faster if you were already going bald, or were going to be by your genetics, fasting is no exception. As you said fasting can reduce chronic inflammation though so you can at the same time reverse it unlike other weight-loss methods.

If you don't have the balding genes, you won't start balding with fasting, my hair too got a bit stronger and gained a deeper color when I started my fasting schedule. That was probably because of the lowered chronic inflammation. I don't have the genes for balding so for me this was just a bonus.

Don't chug a litre to get it out of the way, your body will start to tell you you need it after a while. Not just through thirst, you'll just know you need more. I take a few big gulps every few hours and don't usually finish 2l until halfway through the second day after mixing.

Usually it's recommended for 3+ days but it's always useful.

If you're just starting out then yes, increase that to a 48, do a few 48s and work up to 72+

It might. It just speeds autophagy up to eleven and that's the mechanism which would normally "fix" it, from the perspective of your body it isn't really something to even fix, it's just some extra that might not be fully grown back the next time the cycle of cell-death and rebirth is done on all your skin cells, there isn't an extra system to deal with this type of issue in the body so it will take a while. If you have enough loose skin, fasting won't do shit and there really is not much hope other than surgery or 10+ years of regular dry fasting to see a small benefit as there is just too much of it. I don't know of any cases where someone dry fasted for tens of years so you could be the first to try I guess, there shouldn't really be anything to stop it from working but the journey would be epic.

There is also something to consider about what you are eating when you do eat. Your skin is "regrown" every few years or so (the cells are replaced), so what you eat becomes your new skin, even the extra loose part. Based on that it would probably be a good idea to eat quality unprocessed foods (lower inflammation = higher quality cells) and especially large amounts of collagen as that is what makes your skin good, supple and tighter even without the loose skin problem.

If it's a little loose or it hangs a bit it should do at least something if you dry fast. I'd go for 2 days of dry fasting a week or even 3 and regular gym if you want it to tighten over a long time, but this will take a while to see results.

how to end 21 day fasting?

OMAD is definitely fasting, even religious fasting is usually in some form of OMAD even if that meal is a light soup etc.

You get most of the benefits of longer fasting from OMAD, especially Keto-OMAD. Your autophagy is much much higher than it ever would be on a normie diet and OMAD is sustainable indefinitely, it might even be the best type of fasting for the largest amount of people since you don't have to ever stop and you can maintain weight with it. It also cures insulin resistance and best of all is the ease of access as it is doable for anyone and doesn't require that much extra willpower.

From the perspective of our modern diet it is 100% fasting and our fasting tradition is mostly just OMAD with some religious spookiness mixed in. Longer "pure" fasts are historically been mostly protests or extreme feats of messiahs and demigods.

If you really have to, go ahead. Try what it feels like with it and without it. I've heard too much conflicting information.

I used to drink stevia stuff and sometimes other fake sweet stuff on fasts but once I ditched them it made the fasts easier. I got some type of reaction from anything sweet, I just simply got hungrier, so I ditched them all even though there was zero sugar or calories. Now I only fast once a week or so but I don't ever eat anything sweet, I just lost the cravings for them, be it sugar or stevia, from my fasting.

That kinda keys in with some of my already existing habits.
For example I've given up on soda in favor of plain carbonated water(club soda) since it turns out the fizzyness was all I actually cared about.
I drink coldbrew every day with cinnamon dolce at Starbucks so I'm trying to slim down the "stim reward" that I get from my usual foods down to its bare minimum
