Start getting bored of normal squats

>Start getting bored of normal squats
>Start placing things under my feet, like pieces of thin wood (floor board) or a pl8
>Notice my quads are literally screaming and get the biggest pump after a set, plus my knees love it and i don't even hear any sort of cracking anymore
>I'm literally screaming in my garage squatting 170kg that's how hard it is, but it feels so good.

Who else here squats with a pl8 or something else under their feet? it's glorious.

I dont squat

Are you placing the entire foot or just part of it?

Just the heel, with squat shoes on. I get a crazy stretch, and my glutes / quads get absolutely hammered.

What you're doing is compensating for a lack of ankle mobility. You haven't actually changed the lift. If you had the mobility, you would always feel your quads blowing up like that.

Lift with your legs -- its not a "good morning" !!!

Wrong, i have never had ankle mobility problems, and still feel it without a plate. A plate and i feel it 20x more, and get a bigger pump.

he isn't wrong tho
if you had adequate ankle mobility then you wouldn't need the wood
post squat.

>he isn't wrong tho

Wrong.

>putting a block under your heels allows your knees to travel further forward as it is not limited to your ankle flexibility
>Op can't enter range of motion with just squat shoes and requires wooden block to do it.

But he is totally wrong tho?

>Start getting bored of normal squats
Do front squats

Most likely what everyone else said about you compensating for ankle mobility is most likely true

Even if it is not, what you are experiencing is simply what happens when most of the motion occurs in the knees rather than the hips

This is why low bar uses less quad than high bar which uses less quad than front squat.

everyone knows about this, good job for figuring it out

>>putting a block under your heels allows your knees to travel further forward as it is not limited to your ankle flexibility

My knees travel completely fine, when nothing is under my feet.

>Op can't enter range of motion with just squat shoes and requires wooden block to do it.

But that is incorrect, please fuck off and stop throwing around baseless assumptions you chair doctor. I find with a plate under my feet, i hit the muscles harder, i find squatting fun again, while still traveling the same distance (ATG).

Fuck I wrote most likely twice because I am a retard and my brain doesn’t work

ATG is such a meme.

Again, it’s literally just more knee motion instead of hip motion. You can get the same effect standing on your toes, although so extreme it fucks your knees

>got bored of all kinds of squat forms
>saw my daughter playing with marbles
>why not?
>replaced the rubber floor of my home gym with picture related
>mad gainz from all the stabilization efford

Then how can you feel your quads more when the only thing that has changed is your ankle mobility?

Maybe OP is shifting his center of gravity slightly forward, which ultimately puts more pressure on his quads

The only people that say ATG is a meme are people with shit mobility. Or they get mad because they can ego lift 2 plates with 6 inch range of motion, but can't even lift 1 plate with proper form. git gud fagg

ATG is meme, parallel is more than enough. get rekt izi

You can do that with adequate ankle mobility.

Then you need to work on your ankle mobility

Tard who lifts, realises with more instep he can lift more.

This is effectively why most footwear has an instep.

Training your ankle mobility is a meme

Well then I guess you'll just have to work on your ankle mobility then, ok?

I put plates under my feet but that's because my ankle mobility is trash and I almost can't without them. Otherwise ye it's nice

I LB squat 176Kg and i'm a dyel.

youre literally making it easier

explain this. do you mean that training ankle mobility doesn't work or that it's unnecessary? Because if I could squat without compensating for shit mobility by having a wide stance and foot angle that would be nice

the fuck is ankle mobility, if your thighs break parallel and the god damn bar goes back up, the squat is greenlighted in competition. If you can fucking "good morning" over 315lbs then you're stronger than nearly everyone on the planet.

He's just dumb and wrong. Keep doing it.

Why do you think competition lifting is training?

>Training your ankle mobility is a meme
You've proven yourself wrong...By placing plate under your heel you're probably going deeper and putting more stress on your quads. That's basically what oly highbar squat does. But I guess they're stupid for mobility and stretching work.

>more than enough
I can lift at least 30 lbs more doing parallel.
