there is no definition anywhere of what "good posture" even is. dont worry aboot it

just look at the picture man. Some people walk around looking like the right and some people walk around looking like the left.

how do I get to be one of the people looking like the left?

good posture is a constant battle. You need to pay attention to it, and correct it when necessary. A prerequirement is that you are able to get into proper posture (not being with severe mobility deficits). There are a lot of exercises + stretches to help you with mobility. There are also a lot of tips and tricks to improve your posture in different poses - standing, sitting, lying even when slouching.

Keeping the posture of the guy on the left for a prolonged period of time doesn't work. We are not meant to stay in any single position for more than an hour or so. Your posture should be dynamic. When you don't have an opportunity to rest, you should aim for mainly good posture(guy on the left), with 5-10 minutes rest of bad posture.

Bad posture itself is bad because people with bad posture only do bad posture. For example a guy working on a computer for 8hours a day. If you have a bad posture for lets say a total of an hour throughout the day you have nothing to worry about. Especially if you do posture exercises every now and then.

I repeat Bad posture is bad only when its the only posture you have. Forgot to mention a really good way to reduce the amount of bad posture even further is by getting good at squatting. The squat is a resting positioin and people used to be able to squat for 30-60 minutes. It's not always a good idea to squat, if we care about what people think.

i used to have shitty posture but when i got a stronger back / upperback / rear delts my posture got fixed by litteraly doing nothing else. rowing 65lbs on bar to rowing 155lbs was enough to fix my posture

discipline

barbell rows? like bent over rows where you pick it up from the floor to chest?

you think dumbbell rows would work too?

>shit posture
>start lifting
>shit form
>keep lifting while correcting form
>lift with good form now
>better posture

Always remember your nipple hooks.

if you train lots pecs this will worse posture for few days as long as your chest muscles are tight. very common among bench pressers

Even small things like picking up boxes and shit I realise my back is perfectly neutral. Deadlift and squat made my back straight again i think

Fuck yeah dude, you'd be surprised how much lifting actually does for you other than just make you strong. I use to not be able to walk too long without back pain but now I can walk fucking miles with no pain.

Yes. Daily pull-ups and stretching.

this, hanging makes wonders, I love my rings

Deadlift, pendlay row and pullups significantly improved my back and neck posture.

I had bad posture because I was a fatty with man-titties. Just tried to focus on keeping my shoulders back and pretending I was being lifted up by my head.

Also, standing with your heels, butt, back, and head against a doorway to correct.

This + chin-ups and fixing your posture will add a couple of inch to your height

Tried everything and achieved nothing.
My lowest abs just refuse to engage without flexing no matter how much I train them.

For upper body:
Face pulls and this shit right here: youtube.com/watch?v=dHKc1wb6ieE (feels amazing)

Lower body: planks and squats/deadlifts (glute and posterior chain strength), stretch hip flexors and hips in general

oh and this is surprisingly effective: youtube.com/watch?v=l_z6e3PzhGo

boxing and kickboxing
Just do any sports or weights that build your back and chest.

Pretty simple really. Do a lot of back, shoulder, and neck exercises.

Get those muscles nice and strong and you will notice an improvement to your posture.

POSTURE OF KINGS AND CONQUERORS

>deadlifts- this lets you have a straight back without exerting force consciously
>facepulls- this keeps your shoulders automatically wide and back as they should be
>hyperextensions (with added weight)- same as deadlift but for lower back. love the stabilizing effect
>any sort of external rotating shoulder exercise for mobility - we sit on computers all day, gotta fix the bad shoulder habits of being internally rotated
>modified lunges (google athlean x anterior pelvic tilt) - do this if your hips are weird

congrats youre gonna walk like a king now.

do you make your shoulders touch the doorway too?

Just stand up straight nigger

had no idea about the forward chin, thank you

based and kingpilled

I started to be concious of keeping my abs tight, ass pushing inward and keeping my shoulders not too rounded and pulling back to much and I've noticed a serious positive effect on my posture and interior pelvic tilt.

Strengthen your back. You'll naturally assume a good posture.

People imagining you should spend your hours constantly forcing yourself to sit up straight are stupid. Expect a depletion of your mental energy.

People who slouch especially awfully do so because they have really weak backs.

Been tying a small piece of paracord around my waist just tight enough so it doesn't fall off. It sort of mimics the effect of a compression shirt and lets me know when I'm slouching or letting my gut hang loose.

Yeah, I slouched my shoulders forward. Ended up causing pain in my shoulders and back. I went to physiotherapy and the doctor basically told me that I have muscle imbalances and my upper chest / lats were too tight and gave me a bunch of meme exercises using cables and balls. Did that for 6 months with little improvement.

Then I started just doing "dead hangs" on a pull up bar daily and immediately saw great improvement. 5 months later and the problem is completely solved. I also have larger forearms and great grip strength.

Then strech you hip flexors and groin like no tommorow

start running, it forces you to correct your posture

sleep without a pillow

head to head rest 100% of the time in the car

constantly remind yourself when sitting to sit back+neck straight

>first date with girl
>she casually mentions how I don't stand up straight out of the blue
>ok that's news to me
>try to keep it on my mind as much as possible to stand up straight
>sit up straight as much as possible when on computer
>after a little while it became habit
Confidence also helps I was a bit of a loser then (hard to believe I know)

How long did you hang? Just as long as possible?

Jump on the gym machines.

Perfect posture without even trying.
Profit?

Ive been able to fix most of my posture issues but theres one last hurdle I cant overcome.

Because I always sleep on the same side my shoulder on that side is depressed. At first I was like "ok Im just gonna learn to sleep on my back". Tried for weeks, just couldnt fall asleep on my back, after being chronically sleep deprived I gave up. My next plan was to just alternate sides and sleep with at least decent side sleeping posture. Again tried for weeks, just cannot fall asleep on my other side, my shoulder hurts when I sleep on that side its simply not used to the pressure.

This is so fucking frustrating I dont know what to do anymore. It ruins my physique, both my right shoulder and chest 'droops' down almost as if my body had a motherfucking stroke. No matter how many stretches, strenghtening exercises or foam rolling I do, I cannot fix what I ruin while sleeping 8 hours a day.

Any advice? Because Im all out of options

I've had little success through the development of my back and shoulder muscles(or I think so) but nothing conclusive

heavy squats and deadlifts fixed my posture

Do you think taking sleeping pills while laying on your back would help? Maybe you would just wake up on your side

Bought a program by a PT to help with APT.

Yes. Fixed two bad lordoses over the course of two years. Did it by doing compounds done well. All compound exercises done with proper ROM will force you muscles to contact starting from a stretched position, thus improving your mobility over time. And by compounds I mean any non meme exercise bench, back squat, deadlift, ohp, row, pullup, dip, pushup, any ab exercise involving coordination. Fitnessfaqs on YT has good tutorials for bodyweight if you're interested.

Also swimming did wonders for me

Literally just deadlifts fixed mine

Face pulls at the end of each workout. Non-negotiable.

What is the cure to such internal rotation? Face pulls.

Also work those glutes

Dunno havent tried, really dont wanna go down that path.

Yeah, this. Just watch athlean x's shit on posture, it has helped me a lot. Some people's posture get fixed just by working out but some don't, so take a look.

Strengthen glutes, squeeze them often, do your facepulls. Keep your core tight. Be conscious of your sternum position. Don't forget the neck pill either.

We're all gonna make it bro.

Sup nigger dag. I railed ur mom fag

You have to trust me on this. Pull your ENTIRE BALL AREA UP INTO YOUR STOMACH

Deadlifts fixed it for me almost instantly.

I had anterior pelvic tilt.

This was fixed after i stopped being a NEET and got a job where I'm on my feet 8 hours a day. Standing and walking for long periods of time naturally strengthens weakened muscles so it corrects itself over time. I also switched sitting in a computer chair for lying on my bed with a laptop whenever i need to use a computer.
Sitting weakens your glutes and abs which causes anterior pelvic tilt and lumbar lordosis.

I still have rounded shoulders and forward head posture, but not to the extent I did before.
For that I'm doing a lot of pull exercises, especially facepulls.

yes
by lifting.

Just sleep on the floor

Brehs, how can I fix anterior pelvic tilt?

How do you get a straight back other than lifting shit? I'm tired of my gay back

when I was a kid I had a heavy backpack and that lead me to slouch forward so it would be easier for me to carry until one day I saw my reflection of me walking without a backpack and I was slouched forward because I conditioned myself and muscles to do it
I realized how fucking retarded I look and just made a conscious effort to stand straight
you just have to keep on doing it until it becomes habit

Did that for 3 months and nothing.

That's my current approach but I'm being lazy about it after so much failure

Check this out:

????????????
Is lifting shit too good of a solution for you?
Tf is wrong with you.

I did it with lifting, back muscles just naturally kept me straight.

>breathe in
>shoulders back

You have to become obsessed at your posture. Think about it all the time and force yourself to stand like the left guy both when you lift and when you dont lift, whatever you are doing think neutral back, no foward head and shoulder.

After months (or years) of obsessive self correction it will become your almost natural posture.

Also dont over do it, nobody is perfectly straight and symmetrical.

Face pulls, neck training, horizontal and vertical back training. Lordiotic curve do glute focused exercises (hip thrust, cable kickbacks, etc). Most importantly daily discipline to correct your posture at all times

Holy shit are you a wizard? I have never been able to engage my lower abs on anything but this black magic makes them burn from a seated position. Will be doing this in pullups and all other lifts from now on

I don't see why not.
