How do I safely do an extended fast?
>Take snake juice, or just supplement electrolytes.

That's nothing! When I was still a fatass I ate 3 boxes of spaghetti(and tomato sauce) in one sitting, just to impress my boss. The local eatery had all you can eat spaghetti. I made it pretty deep but my boss said if I couldn't finish a 3rd box then I was a pussy and I better find a new job(he was kidding), so I did. That's 24 2 oz servings, in case you're wondering. We estimated the weight, cooked and sauced, at ~11 lbs, not including bread sticks and meatballs with the first plate.

So I’ve been trying 16/8 IF (window noon-20:00) for about a week to lower my body fat %, and I’ve noticed two things.

1. 10:00-11:00 is hell. How long does it take to reprogram the need for breakfast?
2. Then at 12:00 I find I have no appetite after starving for an hour. Wtf is this

25yrs old skinnyfat (73kg, 177cm) trying water fasting for the first time. Aiming just for 48hrs, shouldn't be that hard since I've been on a 1,000kcal diet for a week now already.

I'll start doing 24 hour fasts after I test my maxes. I can't afford a keto diet though, so is low carb good enough? Like 100-120g

Low carb is under 100. Slow carb is cheaper because legumes. Read up.

As someone who quit smoking and is fasting, I can tell doing both at the same time was too difficult for me, so I chose to quit smoking first, without dieting at all, which made me gain all the weight I lost back (over 30kg), but then I restarted fasting once I had no more cravings and have since lost it back and some.
If you want to know if something affects your fast it's really simple: do you feel hungrier? If so, your fast broke. Otherwise, it's fine. I recommend you quit nicotine first and lose weight again later, because that's what I did and it worked for me. If you think doing the opposite is easier, try it, but I couldn't see myself quitting smoking after losing weight, I was sure I'd gain it all back trying, which is why I quit smoking first. 15 pounds in two weeks doing 20 hour fasts followed by 36 hour fasts, fasted training followed by 20 hours etc.

After the "noob gains" (aka the water weight), still around 1.5kg-2.5kg a week for me. I'm doing three meals a week, each at max 1500 kcal. I spread them so there is one on Wednesdays, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, so after my Sunday meal I fast for around 70 hours until my Wednesday meal, and then again 70 hours for my saturday meal, then around 22 hours for my sunday meal, and the cycle continues.

Came off my fast today. Started at about 225 in December, now 192 this morning. Because of this, I like to test different foods to see if they're alright for breaking a fast. Cheese quesadillas in CORN tortillas are OK. Not ideal, but ok. In my experience, eggs and bacon are amazing for breaking a fast, as well as meat (beef). Stay the fuck away from pancakes though.

Start with short term fasts like 16 hours and build up your tolerance/skill level by increasing the time.

Try your luck. Start with OMAD.

Which fast is best to maintain or cut with?

I've heard internment fasting is the way to go for bulking. I've reached 210 lbs at roughly 17% body fat. I want to go down a good 8-9%.

I also am into powerlifting, a bit. Wil fasting hurt my strength gains? I've been adding 5 lbs/month to my main upper body lifts, and 10 lbs/month to my main lower ones.

Can I fast for a couple weeks at a time and keep up progress?

Don't I eventually need to eat protein to give my body something to repair the ripped tissues with?

Yes. I don't do snake juice, not out of any good reason though, I just haven't tried it yet.
The thing I should probably tell you is that when you start you will probably have a headache while water fasting. The first time I fasted I tried for a week and managed 88 hours only, breaking because I was worried about the headache. Don't be discouraged if you have to break your fast because of it, remember that the headache will only happen once or twice at the beginning and then it never comes back, unless you quit fasting for a few weeks and start fasting again after.

I recommend OMAD to maintain. To cut, depends on the rate. The less meals the better the cut. Don't feel scared about losing muscle from it, but don't hope to gain much either.

OMAD won't hurt it much, fasting more than it will definitely stall you.

You will be stalled during that week. And for the next few sessions after while your body is rebuilding.

Yes. Be mindful of what you break your fast with.

Do you have any fasting experience? If not, start small and work your way up. Try a 24hr. If you feel ok, keep going to a 48, then a 72. Re-feed and start again. Do a few rounds and listen to your body. Extend it as you can, work up to more.

Refeeding after 72hr.
100g steak, 370g romaine salad and 30g bleu cheese dressing. All known foods that do not cause me any issues. Stomach is noisy.

You can do keto cheap by sticking to oils, fats, butter and cheap veggies, eggs. Just avoid expensive things like meats, cheeses, coconut oil and avocados unless they're on sale. An egg with butter on zucchini is fairly inexpensive.
Start with 16 hour fast, 8 hour of eating window. Then 20/4, OMAD, then a full 24 hour, 48 hour etc. I max out at 4 days because after that I can't sleep and I get very irritable.
Don't really know why but I have some guesses. The world record faster did take a daily multivitamin but others did not. Some vitamins are used in digestion which is why we need them. Like vitamin B which is used to digest carbohydrates. If you're eating carbs and not getting vitamin B you get beriberi disease. You also need vitamins to build new cells like vitamin A is an essential component in cell formation. But if you're just fasting you're not really building a lot of new cells. Also your body is able to reused and break down old bad cells and use those nutrients to make any new cells it needs.

All that is your sear - you cooked it as one piece and then sliced it.

It also didn't cook it nearly hot enough, or you didn't dry it. So, you cooked it for waaay too long at waaay to low heat. If you want to get a good sear on it, you want the oil to be just about smoking, and you can cook a steak of that thickness in like 5-8 minutes easily to that same doneness. It'll taste better because of the Maillard reaction. Your shit looks like lunch meat.

Pretty much anything besides unclarified butter, sesame oil, or extra virgin olive oil.

So, canola, peanut, grapeseed, clarified butter, refined olive oil, vegetable oil, etc. are all fine.

3. Pat meat dry with paper towels or something.
4. Spice meat.
5. Add oil to pan.
6. After 1-2 minutes add meat to pan.
7. Flip as much as you want if it makes you feel better, or as little as you want. It's kinda pointless to flip more.
8. Wait until doneness (thermometers are great)
9.Remove meat
10. let meat sit at room temperature for a few minutes before slicing/eating.

I fucked up and carb loaded yesterday on refeed and didnt eat any meat or protein. Was going to start another 7 day fast but Im bothered by not having eaten meat. Would it be smarter to just eat a really healthy meal today with lots of protein or say fuck it and fast for another 7 days. Either this week or next week will be my last extended fast. I weigh 185 and I'm auschwitz mode at anything less than 170.
btw I carbloaded because it was time to break my fast, was feeling like shit, but didnt come home because of work and had to eat what was there.
