Completely and utterly agreed. I never do OHP and use isolation excercises that I feel do a much better job.
It just so happens that OHP is extremely trendy on Jow Forums at the minute, probably because it's an alternative to bench press, which makes them feel superior and means that they don't have to disclose their embarressing BP 1rms.

You’re partially correct. You absolutely need pressing motions but in terms of the actual OHP I’d say you can get by without it, but idk why you’d want to it’s a great lift

You only really need lateral raises to hit the middle delts, you should get plenty on your front delts from doing bench press, and plenty on your back from facepulls etc.

I do OHP and various shoulder-related dumbell presses and everything, but my shoulders always stay tiny as fuck. My chest is great, but I have these tiny fucking shoulders.

not doing Cardio when you lift is scary bad for your health. Consider what happens when you increase all your muscle mass except that of your heart. You have a 150 lb man's heart pumping blood to the muscle's of a 170 lb man. I put myself in this position for a while when I first got into powerlifting. I started neglecting cardio and gained a lot of mass really fast, and whenever I would go for a run again, I got dizzy and felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Shit was scary. I had to take a break lifting and train cardio like hell for a while just to stop feeling like I was going to die all the time. Always prioritize cardio over weights.

The number of reps per set you do doesn't matter for gains so long as you choose a weight that lets you end every set near failure.

PPL is a program for people with zero interests outside of picking up and putting down heavy things, it is dog shit. it is a waste of time. it is how you can spend 2x the time in a gym and make 5% more gains.

Try doing drop sets on lateral raises/front raises to failure. For example, do 14 reps with 20kg, 18 with 15kg, 20 with 10kg and then do the most you can with 7.5kg. After two or three sets, you won't be to raise your arms up for a few minutes.
I've been doing this recently and my shoulders have been getting bigger.

Front raises, but with the dumbbell in a "hammer curl" position to put emphasis on the front delt.

I've seen many people state that they don't BP, but do OHP instead. Other people place an emphasis on OHP over bench pressing.

always optimize your heart before building muscle mass. Health will always be more valuable than aesthetics. Cardio doesn't kill gains.

this is a good idea. I do a little bit of lateral/front raises, and they're the only thing that seems to be doing anything to my shoulders whatsoever. They never seem to make my shoulders big though, just sorta wiry looking, like I can see all the individual little muscles in my shoulders now.

I lift/train in part for the qt gym staff girls. We often have polite conversations and share laughs and know each others' names. There's one that's 22 years old and the definition of a gym pixie (not a thot) and I secretly hope to impress her and eventually take her on a date.

It does. Not necessarily because you're jacked, but because it increases testosterone, which tends to lead to greater social status.

I do my shoulder pressing with the machine. I can push much more there than I ever could while trying to balance the weight over my head and I don't need a spotter.

Of course you could. But OHP will fatigue other muscles involved in benching, which will interfere with chest progress. Shoulder isolation makes much more sense.

Not talking about the usual grunts or sounds of plates hitting the ground on diddlies or power cleans or snatch or whatever, i dont care about those. But when people are constantly dropping weights they obviously cant handle, or constantly slamming their bar back onto the rack, makes me completely understand noise complaints. If you cant handle/control the weight throughout the majority of your sets, you need to drop weight a bit.

I am not literally saying you want your heart to gain mass. I just mean that when you lift you get full-body muscle gains without heart "gains". You need to improve your heart's ability to pump blood through cardio to ensure that it can pump blood sufficiently well to all the new muscle mass you put on when you lift. That's why I'm saying that, for me, cardio comes before lifting. And I feel that lifting without cardio is kind of dangerous.

theres a fucking retard at my gym who is an absolute nuisance. he tries to talk to everyone about inane bullshit and seems completely unaware of social etiquette and personal space. hes also there for 2 plus hours, loads the cable machines up to full, does 1/10000000 ROM exercises that dont even exist (will literally just pull the rope towards him by an inch and repeat 50 times) and then SLAMS it down. then between these "sets" he will wander off and try to spark up a conversation with someone who is in the middle of an exercise
